Absolutely stunning drone footage! I agree with your estimate of the first large shark being 16 ft+. I say this because of the visible thickness of the base of the tail. Very interesting and no surprise that he (or she) would show up there because their sense of smell is so fine-tuned, and whale meat has a very strong odor. It's also one of their most nutritious and easy meals. The image you captured of the white shark literally disappearing in the depths like Houdini is one of the best I've seen. Incredible! The 18’ Great White was impressive. Looked like it was missing a huge portion of it’s dorsal fin. I wonder if that, besides the whale’s carcass delayed it’s migration south?
There’s a ghost forest off the coast of the PNW where a part of the land shelf fell off during an earthquake 300 years ago, occasionally visible at low tide. Speaking of forests.
Te once great kelp beds are gone for now. It'll take another twenty years to reestablish the help like it was before the collapse. I hate purple sea urchins now that I know how much damage they can do. I personally miss the beds so thick it was a feat fishing from the rocks. The fish disappeared along with kelp. The dieoff was so intense that the barnacles started dying off, their shells dissolved it seemed. A dark future is like that. I'm afraid to go back. Stillwater park is what I'm most familiar. Been going there since I was a small child back in the fifties.

As someone who grew up surfing the cali coast, I can tell you that there are sharks and rays just out of reach most of the time. I got into the habit of opening my eyes underwater and after I did I was never able to think about these creatures in the same way. We are guests in THEIR home. Not the other way around. Thank you for eye (and mind) opening footage. They are not the monsters that Hollywood would have us think they are. More like brothers and sisters just trying to live.
sitting in the water, 2 sharks circling around and than leaving, i will never forget this moment my whole life , and this channel gave me hope than one day i will do it again
The 16' - 18' GWS at the beginning of the vid has lost the tip of its dorsal fin. Aside from the damage to the dorsal fin, the shark looks unmarred (from an overhead perspective) and does not appear to be tagged. However, the size of that shark along with the missing portion of the dorsal fin may constitute a distinctive profile for identification. Perhaps shark researchers would be interested in your vid and the location as a means to track this particular shark. Great find, Carlos!
Big shoutout to the TH-cam algorithm for showing me this video. You easily have some of the best footage I've seen. I love the top down view, and how you catch the light through the water. I appreciate all the effort that takes and the quality reflects that. Amazing views :)
If you ever get a chance on the SoCal coast, try to get stuck swimming with a large school of leopard sharks in waist deep water. They stay far enough away that, submerged, you might not even know they're there if not for the constant kicking up of sand in a wall several meters away. I was amongst them for several minutes before I figured it out. I moved in a little more to stand up and see if the sand puffs (not timed right to be from wave action) were from rays or something like that. Looked down and around. Nope. Leopard sharks as far as I could see at LaJolla!
a large school of leopard sharks swim around Catalina island daily, often in 1 to 2 feet of water without care of people or dogs, a very cool experience to have them swim around your feet.

That large shark appeared to be missing the top of his dorsal fin. Maybe that can help you identify him/her through your shark scientist contacts or from future flights? My friend was using a drone to film his buddies surfing in the Santa Cruz (CA) area, he picked up a few sharks, the surfers had no idea they were so close.
It's weird how much slower, and less violent marine life is compared to land life. Like you could never get close to a wild lion, but you could totally get close to a shark.
The reason for that is not because sharks are less dangerous. They're simply fearless plus dont have limbs and cant express themselves through noise (which gives them a calm presence) opposed to nearly all species of cats are cautious and will fake you out by growling hissing or charging when scared. With a shark theres none of those warnings it's 0-100 in less than a second. One moment you're like "awww nice sharky" Next moment "oh im gonna die"
Sharks are extremely violent and fast often reaching huge speeds quickly with the flick of a tail, from lower invisible depths, to ambush seals and other prey at the surface.
That first shark has been filmed and mentioned on one of the Great White Serial killer episodes. It's dorsal fin is damaged and goes straight across at the top. It's very recognisable.
I was just looking to see if anyone else saw that. It almost looked like a person, right? I slowed it down and zoomed in and still can’t tell, but I would imagine it’s a fish of some sort.
I was wondering if anyone posted anything about that .... it honestly looked like someone on a SeaDoo. If it was then I bet that person was in for a major shock!
The dolphins *are* likely attracted to the whale carcass. I would assume some in the pod are aware they can feed on the smallers scavengers that will inevitably be drawn to such a massive free meal.
They don’t do that. I spent years living in Port Hueneme and Ventura, boating on the Channel and spending time around the Islands. I was a carpenter working on a hotel on the beach in Oxnard when a dead grey whale washed ashore. They leave them there until the sea reclaims them, and I can tell you, when you are downwind of a rotting whale… it’s gaggingly nasty!
Human ignorance causes the extinction of so many species. When someone stupidly get attacked by a shark they reinforce negative stereotypes about sharks.
Amazingly cool top-down footage, I'd love if there was a video game like this where you explore the ocean as a shark from this point of view. Inspiring :)
@@spencertalan2563 Hm not quite what I am imagining, I’m thinking more like a peaceful game where you complete simple quests and explore the ocean and other creatures/befriend them kind of thing
There's real synergy about the content you create. Like sharks, drones are also unfairly vilified by the media based on one or two incidents carried out by bad actors. The rules that the FAA are trying to impose on drones are frankly ridiculous and actually put drone pilots in danger. Hopefully content like this goes a long way to showing people drones are not something to be concerned about.

Your skills are impressive. I have been surfing for over sixty years and have had my encounters. We always look, give pause and go do our thing. I won’t bother you with my many encounters with the men in gray suits. One little story should suffice. It was quiet and a bird dove into the water near me. Then anther, then ten and then hundreds of them, the ocean boiled and roiled with a feeding frenzy. At some point my legs were hit so hard it felt like being hit my a car. After the shock I picked them up to see if they were still there. They were but i couldn’t feel them…It was a long paddle back not knowing if it was over. Yes, i was alone.
It appears as if the big shark has a chunk of dorsal fin missing. I watched a documentary a few years ago about a shark named “Stumpy” that was missing its dorsal fin like that.
Amazing content as usual, if this can be considered a profession it would be amazing and motivate others to do it as well. But even if not, you're inspiring a lot of people.
one hundred percent keep filming leopard sharks, in fact dolphins, sea otters, seals, sea lions, whales and whatever else you can find are welcome too. those of us who watch your video continuously like sea creatures in general.
I can't get enough of your film work! Truly beautiful and inspiring. Never had a reason or concern to make it to California, now I'm determined to see the west coast in my lifetime. I sure hope to.
I used to have a salt water aquarium with 2 Leopard sharks. I would hand feed them squid. The second the food touched the water they would frenzy for the food. When the food was gone they would just go back to casually cruising around the tank. When they started to get a little too big I found a better larger home for them. Such beautiful footage of them.

Incredible! The 18’ Great White was impressive. Looked like it was missing a huge portion of it’s dorsal fin. I wonder if that, besides the whale’s carcass delayed it’s migration south?
My ex was the same, when she smelled a check book.

its incredible to see just how tall and massive the kelp forests are even above water. imagine them in place of redwoods.

Wow Interesting Vid Bro!!! Keep up the good drone work...🎥🎬🎥
Breathtaking, and I'd like to reiterate what others have said, thank you so much for your awareness raising of these incredibly misunderstood creatures. Bless you.
I try to help ease people's minds about snakes and spiders because I don't have any sharks in the middle of Texas. I love and appreciate your work. It's inspiring, relaxing, and important! ❤️ Thank you!
I've watched a few of your videos but I think this one is the most educational one I've seen so far. Well done! The whale / shark / dolphin relationships are very interesting but I was also intrigued by the clear views of the kelp growth, aquatic forests for sure.
Wow. Those leopard sharks are stunning. Thanks for sharing.
This is going to be EPIC, can’t wait!
More like brothers and sisters just trying to live.
sitting in the water,
2 sharks circling around and than leaving,
i will never forget this moment my whole life
, and this channel gave me hope than one day i will do it again
The 16' - 18' GWS at the beginning of the vid has lost the tip of its dorsal fin. Aside from the damage to the dorsal fin, the shark looks unmarred (from an overhead perspective) and does not appear to be tagged. However, the size of that shark along with the missing portion of the dorsal fin may constitute a distinctive profile for identification.
Perhaps shark researchers would be interested in your vid and the location as a means to track this particular shark. Great find, Carlos!
I spotted the lost tip as well.

Big shoutout to the TH-cam algorithm for showing me this video.
You easily have some of the best footage I've seen. I love the top down view, and how you catch the light through the water. I appreciate all the effort that takes and the quality reflects that.
Amazing views :)
Great footage as always. And so informative! All the leopard sharks were just incredible to see.
So captivating! Thank you for your work.
Nope. Leopard sharks as far as I could see at LaJolla!
omg!
Leopard sharks are little babies. People with very big aquariums keep leopard sharks. Also people swim with them in the wild as wel

What incredible footage!! Those great whites were definitely a lot larger than what you normally film in that area, so glad you were able to film them as well as the leopard sharks. Can't wait to see what you upload next !!

Excellent job,I look forward to seeing more!
The narrator voice was so soothing and the filming 🎥 is quality 🖤👌🏿✌🏿

At about 5:10 or so in video I saw something in the bottom left frame moving quickly through image. What was that object? Really enjoy your videos and wisdom.
I seen it also and kept rewarding it. I believe it a buoy cause u can see the rope attached to it. Looked like someone on a board swimming toward it 😂
It's a buoy. You can see the anchor line in the water below it.

In Oct 2012, I had a surfing holiday along the Big Sur and believe I surfed off that beach (or at least very near) not long after an unfortunate shark attack a few months previously. It is an absolute beautiful place and I will return one day soon.
These are the kind of shark videos I want to see! Not that reality tv shark week trash. Thank you for these wonderful videos, you are a great narrator!
That large shark appeared to be missing the top of his dorsal fin. Maybe that can help you identify him/her through your shark scientist contacts or from future flights? I assume that scientists use distinctive marks like that in a similar way to photographing flukes of whales for identification catalogs. I'm sure someone would love to know he was near the coast on that day and time.

Ahhh, the circle of life. It's kinda funny how death is seen as so antithetical to life, when death is simply the cessation of one piece of life. It feeds back into the cycle, natural, and in a way beautiful.
Seeing the leopard sharks made me so happy! I love the markings so much, and it's so cool to see them so clearly from high above. Thanks for sharing this footage and your knowledge.

My friend was using a drone to film his buddies surfing in the Santa Cruz (CA) area, he picked up a few sharks, the surfers had no idea they were so close.
Those Leopard Sharks look absolutely beautiful. Amazing Footage!
You are a great narrator!!! Besides videographer !! Thank you! Sir for your channel!

The dolphins *are* likely attracted to the whale carcass. I would assume some in the pod are aware they can feed on the smallers scavengers that will inevitably be drawn to such a massive free meal.

Finally a video on TH-cam actually worth watching, thank you
This sighting totally confirms why my feet do not enter the water at all. Total fear here.

I have always loved sharks, thanks for the video!
Are they going to tow the whale out to sea? That would be EPIC with all the large sharks attracted to it, especially GWS's
Great content once again.
Ever seen a whale blow up?
Great video, I do a lot of drone flights but never over anything so cool!
Human ignorance causes the extinction of so many species. When someone stupidly get attacked by a shark they reinforce negative stereotypes about sharks.
I have to say, your observations are more detailed and accurate then most marine biologist, excellent video..

Came across this channel last night. This is my kind of content
Amazing content as usual, if this can be considered a profession it would be amazing and motivate others to do it as well. But even if not, you're inspiring a lot of people.

How has the FAA not spazzed at this guy yet the way they do with everyone else who posts popular drone footage?
He's not in controlled airspace.
It's just sad that we kill millions of sharks just for their fins. We need to protect our oceans
