You mentioning that parts of it reminded you of Death Stranding seems fitting. I'm fairly certain Kurogames' other game, Wuthering Waves, was noted to take inspiration from Death Stranding.

EDIT: The most prominent type of music that's being shown is called Trance. If done right, it's extremely good at merging well with other genres
Find it funny when he mentions some things that actually do relate to the game, like in his last wuwa reaction he mentioned death stranding and that game was in fact inspired by death stranding. While im not sure if PGR is fully inspired by matrix there is an ingame mechanic where if you perfect dodge, you enter matrix for a few seconds where the enemies are time stopped.

Btw, PGR is a Gacha game, the game Kuro games made before Wuthering Waves and where alot of its combat elements come from.

As an avid PGR player since near launch, I'm glad to see you taking a peek at some of the best of gaming's OST.
Vanguard is an absolute mastermind and seriously rivals other big players such as Falcom JDK & FF's OSTs, imo of course.
Everyone's mentioning Hikari, and I couldn't recommend that enough either. That's up there with Narwhal as one of the most iconic pieces for the game. But my personal favs I'd recommend checking out, other than Hikari are the following (in no particular order):
Polaris Bond, In My Memory, To The Limit, Evan's Gambit, Endless Path, and Adversity. There's just so many, it's tough to choose a favourite, tbqh.
Polaris Bond and Hikari go so well together, love how they maintain themes and remix them into newer versions

Yeah hat's off.. Like there's Dancing Tonight, Into My Soul (underrated), Resounding Storm, Dust... Too many gems right there.
Oh PGR's OST is fantastic, and Narwhal is absolutely its crowning jewel. I'm also pretty partial to "Moon" (particularly the Voice Actress version) and "LAMIA", as well as the character themes "Who I Used to Be" and "Resounding Storm". And yeah, dark and hopeless is a pretty good summation of PGR lol
Would also love to see you react to more music and animation from Arknights too! Particularly the event teaser shorts and the recent 2024 Special Commemorative Animation PV, which is set to a fantastic song by Mili!

Finally! I can't explain how much I love the OST of this game. You should react to some of these songs: Sie liebten sich beide, Hikari, Last Resort, Lamia, Under Dimension. The soundtrack and gameplay of this game (From the same company as Wuthering Waves) is really next level

Additional context : this is the first Boss Fight theme on the beginning patch when the Game released. Rosetta (Centaur-like on the right). Afterwards she became playable Character which was also lore dropped and back story, and then when you hear it again it felt different. But when I saw your teary eyes, I'm just thinking that you already felt how deep down Rosetta been through.
I recently tried PGR because I really like wuthering waves and within the first 5 minutes they hit me with “Meltdown” soundtrack while doing visual novel storytelling. They did NOT have to thrust a banger at me that quickly lol.

I'm rlly glad to see you finally entering into the world of PGR. I've been playing the game for almost 2.5 years now and it has so many banger Osts, Vanguard Sound Studio da goat! ❤ These are few of my personal favorites: Lamia, Hikari, Dust, Infinite Gallery, Endless Path, To the Limit, In My Memory, Interstice Oath.
I would also recommend PGR's newest Character song "Burning Vow" 😊

Just in case you forgot, theres a Re:Zero OST that went unused for S2 called "Mobius" by Konomi Suzuki, the singer of OPs 1&3. If you search the name and artist, the song will be a thumbnail of Beatrice and mostly japanese text for the title.

Narwhal was the start of it all, and then Hikari came in, and then Lamia with it's theme being udnerwater, then Under Dimension with it's Electronic-kind if music, there's In My Memory(Theme Switch was godly), Endless Path with the use of Synthwave and Echoing Vocals, Lamia Another Mode(literally the theme of a Boss Character that's turned into a Playable Character) Another version of Hikari(there's 3 Hikaris in different style), and then Luna Oblivion's Theme emitting some aura.

So a bit of primer on PGR. It is a mobile game (there is a PC client too) made by Kuro Games, the same guys who made Wuthering Waves. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a virus called punishing got loose in a futuristic sci-fi world and turned every machine against humans. In the game you play "the commander" and control so called constructs (humans turned into machines through a special process that allows them to keep their personality in a mechanical body).
For the song, Narwhal is related to Rosetta (the purple centaur girl on the right), she started out as a boss in one of the chapters but later on got added as a playable character.
I do recommend trying out PGR. While it is a gatcha game it is often said to be one of if not the most free-to-play friendly gatcha games out there, with certain character just straight up given to players through a single 10-pull or for free by completing event objectives. The game also have an unreasonably good OST, mostly featuring electronic songs, but there are a few other genres in there like, pop, rock, hell even a 3 part opera condensed into 7 or so minutes called Sie Liebten Sich Beide (worth a listen).

I think Narwhal is a recurrent theme song that plays when the "main character" (or main ally) fights with the main antagonist ... Lucia vs Alpha ... I don't know the details, in pgr the story is presented like visual novels without dub, so it is a little bit hard to wants to follow the story, mainly because as always the start is bad and later on it hype it up ... the two girls are like androids (called constructs) and they are like based in the same person, so they are like two sides of the same coin, someone that fights the threat (the punishing virus) and one that joins the Ascendents and think that adapt to the punishing virus is some type of evolution
While Narwhal does play a few times, it is almost always tightly connected to Rosetta, not Lucia or Alpha. In fact, for all intents and purposes, this is Rosetta's theme.
Also, Alpha is nowhere near the main antagonist. Even before we had knowledge of the larger picture, Luna was more of the main antagonist than Alpha since it's her group that's causing trouble. Alpha is just Lucia's rival.
@@zffrailgun1630 thanks, I knew that Luna was high rank in the ascendants but I did not play her story yet, and sadly I skiped all the story after the mission to destroy the ascendant airship (? satellite? I don't remember), so you are probably right
