31:22 The character from this song her name starts with a K, but from the trailer there is a character's name that starts with an N so that might be why you remembered that. But you described her perfectly being a Tsundere and only by just the image of her! 46:13 This song is so iconic for the game & the PGR Community! One of my favorite songs as well!
HECK YEAH!!! It feels good to get it right. haha Now, I'll forever remember her as THE tsundere~ This game def has a lot of songs that I like. I especially love how they make use of the choir and emptiness purposefully~
I heard you're gonna be covering the story in PGR, Story CCs in PGR are really scarce, so really appreciate to stumble upon your vid today. Welcome to PGR and hope you have a fun ride reading through PGR story. Looking forward to seeing your story analysis in the future.
I sure am! Looking forward to analyzing the characters' development and the themes of the story -- and then relating them to our own lives! I'm personally not super focused on lore bits and story summaries (or things like that) for video essays, but it'll be fun to experience the story firsthand in the livestreams instead~
You weren't too far off with some of them, while for others you got it backwards. So overall I'd say it was a success yippeee I've been watching some of your videos recently, like the Arknights and Nikke ones, and you have always provided me with more food for thought, due to your first time reactions also being analyses on the themes and possible interpretations of the story (either through reading it or by listening to the character/boss theme). Once you read a story that answers pretty much everything, you're usually left with a single interpretation that you take for granted, but I think that there's beauty in hearing other opinions/theories on the same subject by someone who doesn't have the full context yet, sometimes they can blow you away with some crazy theories that make you re-evaluate everything you knew. So yeah, all of this to say that I liked the video a lot lol
YAYYYY!!! Still, I'm glad that I got a few wrong since it'll be fun to realize what it is that I got wrong exactly. It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed my analysis and interpretations of the story for Arknights and Nikke! I love diving deep into story themes and character development whenever I experience a story, and especially relate it to real life (or have it contribute to our own growth as a person), so it's wonderful to have others experience that with me!
PGR's combat is very mobile game centric as the orb ping system basically replaces the typical 3 skills mechanics a typical action rpg has (examples are WuWa and Honkai Impact 3rd). That's why most of the time during fights you're more focused on managing your orb alignment as oppose to whether to parry a attack or not. Thus the difficulty depends on which character you're using, some characters has simpler orb set-ups while others has a specific procedure to bring their full power. So the learning curve for the game really comes from the orb ping system first, enemies second.
Maybe it would be better to just use the iPad controls as they are, instead of using a controller, if it is mobile centric! I don't suppose some good meta characters have the simpler orb setup? Or is it just the older characters?
Good job picking up on Karenina's character. She's not the type to hide her feelings, in fact she shows it on her sleeves, but you did get it correctly that she's a MASSIVE Tsundere.
The pgr story is genuinly increadible and i get super exited everytime i see more people start to experience it, the only real dowmside, even though i dont really care, is that the story is SUUUUUPER reading heavy, leter chapters can have up to an hour of uninterupted reading without any gameplay, but as they go on they get better at balancing the gameplay and story while still having the story be super detailed.
I don't find that to be too much of a downside, considering that I like Arknights. XD So I guess I should be fine! Glad to hear that they balance the gameplay and story very well later down the road though! It's always rough trying to find that perfect balance~
Ay! Count me in! Piece of advice though, the default keyboard binding sucks unless you can handle playing an action game like playing piano. lol. I opted to use mouse pointer for the orb pings (the red, yellow, blue circle skils) or a controller. I highly suggest tweaking the UI to make it look cleaner like removing the joystick. Since you play Arknights and HI3, I think we don't need to remind you of the confusing UI for new players and the plethora of currencies and things to do. lol. If you love dark, mature post-apocalyptic scifi stories and characters, you're gonna love this. It is slow but it gets a lot better, even the side stories. Some of the set design looks straight outof PS2 era though but it gets better lol. They never fail on the character and boss animations though. Welcome to PGR!
I guess I'll either opt for the iPad normal controls or the controller then. haha Might just do the former though since it sounds like the controller sometimes has issues. I suspect that it'll take me a good couple of months before I get used to the UI but even then, I still haven't gotten 100% used to Arknights' UI, so maybe it'll actually reach a year! XD I'm counting down the days of when I'll play it for the first time! Soon! Also, thank you for the welcome~
don't worry too much about the orb system, its one of those things that you read the tutorial and your brain burns out on, but the first few chapters are relatively easy so you can get used to the system naturally
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Not really, just try to ping trios of orbs of the same color to make the most damage and when you dodge correctly you enter a state of "slow motion", when you are in that state the first orb you use counts as if you were pinging a trio. You'll see that is not that dificult once you try it.
You can switch characters. You have a roster of 3 characters that you can switch around but you'll probably see a showcase of it since im just a few minutes in the video lul
Ohhh, so it is like HI3 then! That's cool~ Then I assume that they have special effects too when switching for some characters? I actually didn't see it in the rest of the video, so this is good to know. haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna I honestly don't remember lul it's been a while since I stopped playing but I do remember the leader of the three has a certain effect on the whole team so each character has their own specific team leader buff or something along those lines
Rest assured, for story you can relax and pretty much done it without trouble, most of it very forgiving. It categorise hard for some particular contents (Mid-game - Endgame) such as Babel, Norman & ex norman, Stronghold chapter 8 above, also high intensify competition like Warzone Hero & Legend and PPC Ultimate.
Holy... That sounds like another world that I probably won't dive into! XD But it's cool that they have a little bit of everything for different types of players.
@@Trailblazer_Ririnaindeed, however you can be casual and enjoy the game like my guildmates did. He was never so competitive yet he saved so many BC (premium currency for Gacha) compared to me even with monthly. The orbs system skill makes it very unique, so every character have their own orb skill combo. Hence why you saw sometimes the orbs very random, sometimes it was only 2 colours or even 1 color, sometimes there's no orb like Bianca Alter. Have fun, hopefully you enjoy the game x3
Welcome to the wonderful world of PGR! The story is absolutely amazing too, but it's EXTREMELY dark and tragic honestly.... It's beautiful though. Just please be prepared since the combat is probably a couple dozen times more difficult than their other game - Wuthering Waves at times. So it has a steep learning curve.
Thank you for the welcome! Tragic = best! At least, when it comes to getting attached, tragedy is always the fastest way to make that happen if done right~ I'll... do my best with the combat. Not sure if I'll do somewhat okay, but will try! XD
so basically imagine Nikke cyborg people fighting against a robot horde and corruption but the characters brain is instead inside of the space station instead of their cyborg bodies and now mix in some grimdark and even more suffering, thats PGR in a nutshell😅
Welcome to the PGR community and my first advice is to change your combat controls to your comfort (that just goes for any game really) and second, play around with the custom UI layout
Thank you for the welcome~ Is the UI layout that's set as default that bad? I feel like I've heard multiple people telling me to play around with the custom UI layout so far.
PGR has the greatest combat systems of all time within the mobile game industry. Hope you have fun with it! Back when I played the story wasnt voiced so get ready to read but maybe they changed it? Though I personally didnt like their minigames and roguelike modes that I felt bloated the game with unnecessary stuff. PGR is at its best when it lets you pick your team and jump straight into combat.
Haha sounds like I'll be voice acting everything myself then when reading the story for the livestream! Should be fine since I read Blue Archive and Arknights at one point. Thankfully, I'll probably avoid the minigames and other stuff, unless they're required for dailies/weeklies, so it'll be less painful (regarding the experience with the unnecessary)!
Nice! Here are some things about the game: - the world is dark! No such thing as a victory without sacrifice. Also they literally killed a kid to help one of the main characters grow, and they wrote like half a page of the suffering and pain the kid experienced before he died! So prepare yourself! - you don t really have to be afraid of the difficuly. For example, you can t die in boss fights at the end of a story chapter! - first 8 chapters of the game are fillers! Know the world and characters! After that the story gets better and better!
Holy smokes, they wrote that much for one incident?!? It's gonna be a bumpy ride then! Wait, you can't die in boss fights??? I'm somehow very relieved to hear that. haha
The character showcase video is pretty old now, now there are a lot of crazy characters. Also the last 3 characters from that video were collab with nier automata which isa great game too.
i hope you'll enjoy playing PGR. the first few chapters was interesting, but after that it'll be long before you reach another climax. so be patient and enjoy your time. then you'll see how good the story will become
If you do video essays for this, I'll be looking forward to your view on several chapters especially towards the middle of the story. Hope you get through the weak beginning chapters and enjoy the stronger parts of the story
Haha I hope I can reach the middle of the story at a good pace! What chapter is considered middle -- just to understand? I heard that the first 8 chapters are focused on world building, so probably no video essays during that, but should be fun to experience, learning more about this world to become more attached (and feel that it's alive)!
@Trailblazer_Ririna Chapters 14-17 are what I would consider the midpoint for global servers which contain a very powerful story arc that I'm particularly interested in.
Circling PGR? I assume that's another content creator? I'll probably enjoy experiencing the story firsthand myself without seeing too many spoilers or context beforehand. Makes it a lot more fun for myself!
Blanc is one the best PGR players, his playlist slays. While I don't play, the story doesn't pull any punches with dark themes and how the dystopic world shaped the characters and backgrounds. The devs took a lot of inspiration from Nier Autonoma, so expect a lot of existencial crisis and depression. Curious to hear your thoughts!
Oooo, that sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun~ Slightly reminds me of Nikke too with the whole robot thing, which makes me pretty happy. haha I guess I like the whole premise of a dystopian world much more than I thought! Especially considering that I like Limbus Company and Nikke -- and now, potentially this!
Definitely prioritize the weeklies, but the dailies are really easy to finish anyway. No reason not to do them when they can be fijished in 5 or so minutes
I'm actually quite surprised to hear this! A lot of people I've talked to have said that the story was really good, so I expected more people to be interested in it (and the lore), but then again, it's also known for its gameplay too, so I guess it makes sense why people prefer focusing on that, rather than story. I don't play games for the gameplay at all, so story is all I focus on. haha
I should really check out more music from this game, but also, tempted to wait until I start playing the game officially too. haha Let me know if you enjoy the game!
@Trailblazer_Ririna Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the gameplay and its story as well! P.S. I hope you give the Mandarin VA a chance. The voice acting is amazing! But you can do what you like. I'll tune into the stream for sure! 👍
@@veritas8083 Ooo, Mandarin VA! I heard that it wasn't available for Global, but if it is, I would love to listen to it in Mandarin one day in the future~
@@Trailblazer_Ririna She's part of the main story and let's just say she's got a really colorful personality. You're spot on on how she's got a lot of trauma and managed to overcome it.
@@14112ido Ooo, perfect, I look forward to experiencing that story of hers myself! I love it when main stories focus on specific characters. hehe Makes me more attached!
I assume that the roster is way bigger now? Had a difficult time finding a more recent ult compilation video, but I suppose I could just look forward to seeing it in the actual game later. haha
13:51 I am and significant part of the community are so F DONE with 'Bury the Light', that used in her almost every fight video. Like that one stupid, annoying kid who learned new slang word and started using it for everything without rhyme or reason. Ffs, PGR and Vanguard has SO MUCH amazing music, but these "special ones" keept using this one f song, this ONE f song. Again and again, again and again running it into the f ground... At some point I started disliking it, if not outright hating it.
Oooo, didn't realize that that music was used in a lot of the fight videos. Was too focused on the flashiness! haha But I can see why you would get tired of hearing that if they used it too much.

@Doctor_Yiggles i think Hikari more Iconic than Narwhal
So overall I'd say it was a success yippeee
I've been watching some of your videos recently, like the Arknights and Nikke ones, and you have always provided me with more food for thought, due to your first time reactions also being analyses on the themes and possible interpretations of the story (either through reading it or by listening to the character/boss theme).
She does seem like that type from what I remember from the PVs! I think I'll end up liking her quite a lot when I see her in the story.
the story is lovely one of the best visual novels I've read actually
Seems like it's going to be a fun journey then~
will there be VoDs of your playthrough of this game? I typically prefer to watch streams as VoDs due to my bad internet causing lag and stuff.
YES! There will be VODs. They'll be re-uploaded as regular videos right after the stream ends on my channel~
Does the orb system tutorial have a ton of text or something?!? Well, I guess I won't worry too much about it until later, maybe!
@@vergilschair4040 Your explanation was very easy to understand! Now, I'm def way less worried about it!
Oh god I love this game. I really can't wait to see you get into it
HECK YEAH! Going to be soon~ Counting down the days now!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna
Yep
You can switch characters. You have a roster of 3 characters that you can switch around but you'll probably see a showcase of it since im just a few minutes in the video lul
Ohhh, so it is like HI3 then! That's cool~ Then I assume that they have special effects too when switching for some characters? I actually didn't see it in the rest of the video, so this is good to know. haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna I honestly don't remember lul it's been a while since I stopped playing but I do remember the leader of the three has a certain effect on the whole team so each character has their own specific team leader buff or something along those lines
@@Trailblazer_Ririna they did have some effect if you switch at certain moment (i forgot what to trigger the effect)
Narval is a PGR anthem and I'm here to pay my respect.
Thank you for checking out my video~
Ayooo! Didn't expect that at all😮
P. S. With a gamepad it is not that difficult to get used to orb clicking.
Hehe I hope you enjoyed watching the video~
@Trailblazer_Ririna I sure did. Thanks!
Woah, that cleared things up quick! It is similar to Nikke but also very different. Makes me like it even more now!
@@Trailblazer_Ririnathere are guys so that's one difference
Nice! Here are some things about the game:
- the world is dark!
So awesome that there are a lot more crazy cool characters in the game! Much more than what I saw in the showcase video~ How exciting!
Quick note all the eps are mixed
Meaning they each comprise of
Menu music
Battle Music
Boss music phase 1 and 2 or more \(◎o◎)/
So they're not used as they are? They each contain a portion that is used in various areas of the game? Or am I just confusing myself somehow? haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna mhmm each portion has its own portion in the game and sometimes in the story it's a bit changed too
@@muhammadsulaiman5471 Wow, that's really creative and resource efficient of them to use them like that!
Cant wait for u to dive in, looking forward to how the game is for you
Hehe me too! I'm a little scared of the gameplay, but at least, it's not open world, so it'll be easier for me to focus on learning!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Atleast the combat/handholding in story mode is newbie friendly, so I say don't be too worried on that
@@Pibear89 YES! That's good news for me~
i hope you'll enjoy playing PGR. the first few chapters was interesting, but after that it'll be long before you reach another climax. so be patient and enjoy your time. then you'll see how good the story will become
I will definitely be patient and enjoy the game~
now we're talking peak gameplay
It is quite peak from what I've seen so far!
Thers more interesting characters and much more amazing OSTs that PGR is specifically known for!
HECK YES! That's what I love to hear~
@@Trailblazer_Ririna And yes, Narwhal is PGR anthem for a good reason.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna the story arc that starts with chapter 14 is what I consider the midpoint for global.
You should see circling pgr it's give you more about what kind of story you gonna see 😅
Circling PGR?
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Nikke took heavy inspiration from PGR in the story department^^
Lesgoooo more pgr content (I've been starving)
HECK YEAH! More content to come, albeit they won't be reaction content~ But rather, livestreams and theme/character analysis video essays for sure!
Definitely prioritize the weeklies, but the dailies are really easy to finish anyway. No reason not to do them when they can be fijished in 5 or so minutes
Weeklies > Dailies! Got it! Thank you for clarifying~
I'll be glad to help you I'm on asia server tho
Hehe any tips will still be helpful to me!
yep. leggo pgr lore. very few talking about pgr lore. even the people who invited me to play the game, said i'm more story invested than them lol
I'm actually quite surprised to hear this! A lot of people I've talked to have said that the story was really good, so I expected more people to be interested in it (and the lore), but then again, it's also known for its gameplay too, so I guess it makes sense why people prefer focusing on that, rather than story. I don't play games for the gameplay at all, so story is all I focus on. haha
I've heard a couple songs from this game. But I'm also checking this game out for the first time too.
I should really check out more music from this game, but also, tempted to wait until I start playing the game officially too. haha Let me know if you enjoy the game!
I SEE PGR I COME!!
YAYYYYY!!

Woah, seems like I have a lot to look forward to~ I assume her story isn't part of the main story? Or is it just a bond story type of thing?
@@Trailblazer_Ririna She's part of the main story and let's just say she's got a really colorful personality. You're spot on on how she's got a lot of trauma and managed to overcome it.
@@14112ido Ooo, perfect, I look forward to experiencing that story of hers myself! I love it when main stories focus on specific characters. hehe Makes me more attached!
That ultimate video is quite outdated when looking at the roster right now
I assume that the roster is way bigger now? Had a difficult time finding a more recent ult compilation video, but I suppose I could just look forward to seeing it in the actual game later. haha
The ultimate one is kinda too old bc there's more than that
For sure. I thought that was the case! Couldn't find many other ult compilation videos though.
The funny thing is... there is a chance that the song might be added canonically to the game now, so in retrospect this is actually pretty funny.
Oooo, didn't realize that that music was used in a lot of the fight videos. Was too focused on the flashiness! haha But I can see why you would get tired of hearing that if they used it too much.
I never played PGR, My first game i played from Kuro is Wuthering Waves but will still watch this :o
Yay! I hope you enjoy watching it~ ❤️
thats not a reaction, you're just talking about irrelevant things
