The devs once gave an interview about their ideas when designing all the soundtracks in PGR to have some unifying themes to them. The electronic music to inspire the player in a fast-paced, precise action rpg that is PGR. But to accommodate the narrative, they also create a more world-ending, melancholic impression to let the player feel the atmosphere of the ruined earth that you're fighting for. And then female vocals and more pleasant melodies are used to offer players a sense of hope even in the post-apocalyptic landscape. Cool to see Alex recognize each shift and their intention.

You're pretty much spot-on when you say that the boss fight is very emotional. On the one hand, there's Alpha, the girl in the red jacket, who at the time was one of the "villains" in the game. On the other, there's Rosetta, the girl with four legs, who is trying to stop Alpha from capturing, heh, one of the Narwhals. The twist is that the players fight as Alpha against Rosetta, so the song perfectly matches the heartbreak they might feel during the battle because they know they are doing something bad, but they have no choice in the matter. They have to defeat Rosetta because the game made Alpha the protagonist.
Yet, Rosetta at this point fully intended to abandon hundreds of people to death before attacking and trying to kill them and protagonists while all but confirming the townsfolk suspicions. Alpha on the other hand, even though she hates humanity, agreed to defend them and Narwhal while being perfectly reasonable and not at all bloodthirsty. Protagonists were just bystanders and are literally soldiers for a quite questionable and shady spacestation. There are no good nor bad guys in PGR :)

The buildup into the pause before the drop gives me the feeling of rocketing skyward through the clouds, getting higher and higher and higher, and then breaking through the clouds the acceleration stops, there's this moment where you just _hang_ in the air, breathless as you catch a glimpse of the sky and everything around you. And THEN gravity kicks in and you start plummeting back to the earth at terminal velocity. That's how exciting that drop feels.

You're the first creator I've ever seen to make that Narwhal song joke. Not even a minute in and you got another subscriber. That shit was hilarious and caught me off guard. It all really showcases your knowledge about the subject as a composer and your attention to detail. Fantastic job. Far and above most react channels I've come across.
Very happy to see you react to a track made by VGSS for PGR. The game and music go so well hand in hand in every scenario, both Ghost Final who also produces music for the game as well as VGSS never fail to create bangers for this game. Whether it be any tracks to set a melancholic tone, hopeful or even hype like Narwhal, they do magic for this game. I would love to see you react, as i'm sure others have also requested, to tracks like Hikari, Last Resort, Revelation as a few (I quite frankly would recommend all the main tracks for each of the games events but, that'd be too long).

Thank you :)
Alex bringing us the FASHION always. That coat is *chefs kiss*
First Was Bury the Light, I love that ost but you suddenly Reviewing a PGR ost, let alone my most favorite track in game makes me wanna sub twice
Finally PGR, thank's alex for reaction to this Ost as we request
It’s been so long since a video came out from you. Always a pleasure to watch you break stuff down
This song is BY FAR MY FAVORITE of VSS I legit always use it at the gym, the hype it gives is incredible
I was just wondering when you'll react to PGR music and here we are I'm so excited
I'm extremely happy to see PGR being given more recognition!!
1 thing i'd like to add is that the echoey vocals and the reverb in some of the parts in the song rly paint well the place of the battle which is in mountain like Arctic glaciers. Amazing review though, absolutely love it
PGR ost has a special place in my heart. Especially Hikari and Last Resort. The vocals always push me to fully commit to an action whether it be sustaining dps, pulling a pallet or just walking. It has that sort of push whether it be aggressive or subtle.
You know, the first time i hear this, again, kinda reminds me of music by the group Compllege. You shoud check their music. They're my first exposure to trance music
it might be a coincidence but i recognize you from Elegant Sister (ES)'s doujin music festival streams before lmao
@@miso_sewp hello. I am a regular of their stream
Love this style of reaction, so inspectful ! If you can I would also recommend you to check out similar track from them like "Lamia" or "Revelation", those track needed the same amount of loves just like this track.
Love how PGR is getting more and more recognized.
This song literally plays on one of the most epic bossfights of the game, it's just perfect
Can you react to other PGR OST's as well?
- Last Resort
- Revelation
- Lamia
- HIKARI
And many more to, their all as good as Narwhal or even better
A late 1990's - 2000 boomer. Trance music is my life's jam. This song makes me drift into the deepest planes of the universe and forget about reality.
PGR has some very futuristic melancholic tracks out there. I love it! 🙏
You're the first creator I've ever seen to make that Narwhal song joke. Not even a minute in and you got another subscriber. That shit was hilarious and caught me off guard.
More about the video itself. I appreciate the time you take to give your thoughts on the music but also offering examples of how the piece was likely created. It all really showcases your knowledge about the subject as a composer and your attention to detail.
Fantastic job. Far and above most react channels I've come across.
Your in depth explanation gave me so much insights to understanding musics, and i'm glad that you liked Narwhal. It's the pride of us PGR players
He exactly describes the boss fight just from listening thru the music wow
Me: Surely this song cannot get any better.
Alex at the seven point and twenty seven-second mark: But what if I funk it up a lil bit?
Every OST he touches turns it funky and this is one of them that I will put on repeat.
This commandant approves and will groove with this for hours.
This is still my favorite track in the game
Very happy to see you react to a track made by VGSS for PGR. The game and music go so well hand in hand in every scenario, both Ghost Final who also produces music for the game as well as VGSS never fail to create bangers for this game. Whether it be any tracks to set a melancholic tone, hopeful or even hype like Narwhal, they do magic for this game.
I would love to see you react, as i'm sure others have also requested, to tracks like Hikari, Last Resort, Revelation as a few (I quite frankly would recommend all the main tracks for each of the games events but, that'd be too long).
Please, I hope you post a version with your bass on it. I can never listen to the original too much, but would love to listen to a complete version of yours too!
Man, man, can we get a full version of your mix? That was sick!
Yes yes ye ye syevs more reactors reacting to the GOATED music of PGR. God bless and thank you.
Keep spreading the good music man!
I really dig the new format you used for this review with the fade ins and outs of the track
OMG ALEX YOU ANSWERED A QUESTION IVE BEEN ASKING FOR YEARS! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Proud trance fan here as well!
I had no idea Alex was composing for another game. I need to check it out now
Glad to see you back, Alex. Hope your game scoring work is going well. Been missing your vids, but you definitely deserve more opportunities like this.
I was introduced to this track not too long ago. ...I swear I almost hear "The Man with the Machine Gun" after the drop.
The chores is always give me some goosebumps
Thank you! Narwhal is one of my favourite song list.😄
Haven't played PGR, but I have heard Haloweak's creations. This is the kind of music he/she makes. This is one of the better ones.
There are also a ton of other songs (which i think are equally great) made by Vanguard studio as well! I would love to see your breakdown of those as well
Please please please release the full version of the funky remix of this song!!!
YES I used to love Trance music a few years back (I still listen to it from time to time) and it was such a wonderful blast from my musical past to hear this for the first time
I guess we're not Afraid of 138 (plz tell me someone else is getting the reference)
Heck yeah! Vanguard Sound Studio and PGR getting some recognition. So proud being a fan of both PGR and VSS!
Finally! I've been hoping for you to cover Narwhal from PGR! They also have a lot of other bangers. You should check out Exorcism and Last Resort from them as well!
