I've been crocheting since I was 6.. I'm 59 now. I can make everything crochet. When people see me with my garments on, they say, 'you should make those for sale". I think the same as you, that's my hobby and entertainment, not my job. I tried selling baby sets many years ago. I only sold 4 sets, that made me stop crocheting for 2 years. I've given crochet items as gifts, and the people have not worn the items once. One of my family members even sold an afghan, I gave her at a garage sale.
Oh that is so heartbreaking! So many people don't realize how much time and work goes into making a piece. It can be really disheartening when you give a handmade gift like that and it just gets thrown in a closet. 🫂 We just gotta make beautiful things for us. :]
Finally! Someone with a stashdown/organization issue like mine. I am SO looking forward to catching up on these videos and joining in. I just got all of my stuff out of storage and I'm looking at a living room full of boxes - most of which is yarn.
It's so overwhelming! I spend a lot of time just staring at it, thinking of what I'd make, then I get too inspired and have to walk away. 😅 You're definitely not alone!
@shire_shenanigans @shire_shenanigans I'm starting now ish with 2 exceptions for buying because there are 2 items I'd like to make that would need a booster skein. Other than that, there is no buying. And I have NO idea what all I have. Maybe I'll log it as I unpack it?
I'm totally in! (though I will have to have "outs", because I will be purchasing yarn at my local textile center garage sales) but I do need to use up a good 5K grams of yarn this next year. I love the idea of just weighing out the finished projects without knowing how much yarn I have on hand. You can totally knit a sweater this year. I highly recommend using your advent yarn to knit a sweater!
I need to do this I taught myself to knit about 15 years ago I love making wearables for myself and family I've taken to Molly Weasley idea of knit gifts for the family lol this year I learned how to crochet and idk why I learn something and the first thing I try making is a blanket smh anyway since knitting takes a bit longer I usually kept my stash to ehh maybe 4 boxes that fit under a table enough for 10 or so projects at a time then I saw people crochet scrap blankets and thought ohh I can do that with the really small scraps that I've already used for at least 2 things all well and good then I spotted a rainbow pack of 12 and went bingo mom's holiday present did that and made a couple stuffed animals realized how quickly crochet works up I had scraps from the rainbow blanket needed a few more colors to change things up there were good sales .... umm I don't remember what color my carpet is my yarn stash has exploded it's everywhere now
It's insane so quickly it just explodes! You plan all these projects, but get distracted planning more projects instead of DOING THEM, and then suddenly you have no room to move.
I want to squish that yarn 🧶 I should do something like this for cloth. I’ll have to think about how I could do it in a sustainable manner. Also, I know you’re not looking to get rid of yarn but wanted to mention just in case…if you do decide that scrappy projects are too much, I have found that giving away odds and ends of yarn to beginner knitters on Buy Nothing makes you Super Popular with local tween girls who want to learn how to do yarn-y things. 😆

Working in loopholes is how you make something like this work!
And thank you! I have a few sweater patterns in mind for my first. :]
I don't have any yarn. But I'm excited to see what you make with everything! The lapras sounds fun!
Thank you! Just thinking of it gives me a little of the inspiration back. :] Hopefully it doesn't cut into my Diamond Painting time too much. Hahaha
@shire_shenanigans even of it does, you'll be making progress either way! You've got this!

I've been putting some yarn scraps I won't use into my Little Free Library's craft supply box! :D
