Dunno man, post punk revival seems insanely redundant in 2022. It was borderline 10 years ago when Savages debut dropped
Thank you homie. I have kept listening to artists from my past, or digging up ones I missed in the 80s. But I just now listened to most of Cave World and I found the vocals really entertaining and intriguing. Definitely got a Devo type content. Thanks for the recommendations
As someone who also takes viagra on a daily basis, although I have not been effected by the hair loss side effect, I also thought this album was a 9.
Was the voice at 3:30 CDawgVA??
PUNK IS BACK BABY
Also this is like the first album where I listened to it before you and when I saw that yellow flannel I was pleasantly surprised. So tired of Pitchfork giving bands like Narrow Head and Ovlov 6s.
Strong 9? Fuck me that's high
I only remember Plastic Beach and Bottomless Pit getting that high of a rating
STRONG 9? gonna listen to this one tomorrow 🤞🏼
Ain’t No Thief is my favorite song on the record for sure
I found out about this band thanks to the interview you did. This is excellent!
My fav band for a few years now. I'm quite interested to hear what you think of the extra songs from the deluxe edition of the album.
Neoprimitivist post punk. That’s a combo I never could have anticipated.
Really enjoying this album. I can hear a lot of Butthole Surfers, The Stooges, and even early Ween influences throughout even if not directly influenced by them, and they manage to take those influences and create something so original sounding. This album is pretty close to perfect in my opinion and im excited to hear what else they have in store.
Morphine... The Godfathers? Those Poor Bastards?
It would be nice to have a review on a french hip hop record. France have a really strong rap scene that is very unique now. I recommend you to listen to laylow and his last two albums, his universe is very experimental and rich
5:56 OMG I was like holding my breath till you mentioned Sleaford Mods. U a real one.
I’ve been listening to it for the last couple of days. Absolutely love it, it’s been looping on the headphones :3
Pleasantly surprised by this review
It’s so weird to hear theneedledrop just say “strong 9” instead of “decent to strong 9”. Pretty sure this is the first time he’s only said a strong 9 without saying decent beforehand
Thank you Anthony for introducing me to this wonderful album.
anthony, it's been two years. admit this album is a 10.
The album cover looks like Pond's Man It Feels Like Space Again LP, but with the same minimal wear as the Ridge Wallet.
Ain't no Thief is probably one of the most fun tracks to listen to and visualize the interactions he's singing about. Just all around a great track.
Definitely my favorite album out of there discography so far. Street Worms is a close 2nd tho!
they named a song "return to monke". I'm sold
Such a great album. Great review. Anthony ,you have good taste!! ❤️
Holy shit a 9??? Really liked your talk with Seb, and im so glad you liked the new album
New fan here! I think you should look at As Tall As Lions (Self Titled). Super ahead of it’s time and a very chill listen. Also gotta love the “hidden” track they throw in at the end.
Incredible album, my fav LP for such a long time
So close to a 10 . So close
My boyfriend got to see this SOLD OUT show last night at First Ave. and I’m super jealous 😭
baby criminal's lyrics are very funny, but also deal with the subject of add and kids being punished for being different. I love the lines about the kid micro-waving batteries and killing a squirrel for a hat. It's not really hurting anyone (except the squirrel) but the parents are freaking out
A ‘STRONG 9’ has got to be the most unfair rating you’ve ever gave man, that’s basically a 9.9/10 man ur evil 💀
Hold up, their label is YEAR0001? Isn’t that Yung Lean’s imprint????
Viagra does indeed speak to the “dysfunction of the human condition” 😏.
Thank you for reviewing this album! I was hoping you would. It’s truly amazing. My favorite album of the year. Close second is Stromae - Multitude.
Sometimes I shut the blindfolds in my room and put on a fantano review, just to listen to Anthonys spit sizzle in his mouth
Awesome review.
Now I'm listening to this album the correct way, which is while walking my dog. He's a mutt just like the little fella on the cover btw.
I'm surprised I honestly thought you would review the Brent album first but yeah man this album kicks ass and takes names
