I would guess that the shock load on the system from hitting something would be worse over time than the blade cost. Better to deflect the blade than try to stop that motor suddenly and abuse the relief, if it even has one. Probably should have one of those dual acting relief valves on it anyways for system longevity. @@charlietaylor5931
You need to patent that! I just purchased an AGT H15 and asked the dealer for something like this and was told they don't exist for the smaller machines. Awesome job!
I love the build and see one issue. How are you handling the return flow? If you look at most hydraulic mowers they have a low restriction or direct return. Most motors don't like abrupt stops on either side of the shaft. Don't be upset with me if I copy some of your homework.😊
Great job PJ! I know you can get blades for sickle bar at Rural King if you have they in your area, I had to get some to fix a chinese sickle bar mower I got for my skid steer. I am sure you know about surplus center for hyd parts, I got a Hyd Motor Relief Bypass Valve for when I converted my brush hog to hyd for my skid steer to protect it when you turn of the aux hyd and the blade wants to keep spinning.
If the hydraulic system on this proves to be too weak, would a gas push mower motor mounted to that deck work? Wouldn't be as convenient for starting and stopping, but would have more hp available than through that aux line I'd guess...
We have only really seen it under no load though. Going through tall weeds and such might prove different. I hadn't thought about the angle of the dangle on the mower affecting things like the oil. @@kevincrawford2027

Bush hog blade that can deflect and not get destroyed might be better, then you could get some light brush. Great idea though, love your craftiness

There seems to be no shortage of power. A 2 cycle engine might work. A four cycle wouldn't like to be out of level for several reasons.
