Notable exceptions are being a buck, omega, Osprey or his primary source for shit he shouldn't know (Jericho) . Bonus points for having your match in Tokyo. Jericho gets a minimum of 3. If he weren't old and did flips, he'd be held at the same level of inflated esteem as the others

Why is Dave even mentioning the crowd in Ospreay vs Danielson? Didn't he give Hogan vs Rock like 3 stars? Biggest crowd reaction of all time. Dude just changes the rules so he can give certain guys/promotions better ratings. Oh, and Cody vs Roman II had multiple generational pops but still not 5 stars....
@jackaulay4145 I think it's because he is so revered in the community, that it's hard to go around the iwc without someone citing him, quoting him. It is his opinion, yes, but when you have wrestling news quoting him every day, I think he has a duty to actually be objective.
@@jer2dabear nope, 4.75. I was privileged enough to be at the Linc live for that match. It was honestly an indescribable experience. The MJF- Danielson Iron Man Match was 5.75, and even that was too much. 5 star matches should just be seen as the very top tier of wrestling, not breaking the system to show how this "perfect" match is better than this "perfect" match
It's literally just an arbitrary number. Also, his "scale" was broken a long time ago. If you think about it, giving anything over 5 stars (or under 0) on a scale of 0-5 is dumb anyway.

Yeah Dave has his opinion which I don’t get mad as other people about but I don’t really understand the over 5 star thing o feel like you should only give 5+ on your favorite match of all time

@riotd.r.8363 eh, not really, I thought it was a decent little match in a vacuum, but everything surrounding it (i.e the "please retire" and "go home Jericho" chants) made it quite uncomfortable and awkward.
Jeez ......Dave has gotten very loosey goosey with his stars these last several years . Back in the day it was very tough to get 4 stars and a 5 star match was pretty rare . Now almost every show gets several 4 or above star ratings .
At the end of the day, it's one guy's opinion and I really don't get why people get so worked up over it. Who cares if he's inconsistent? Who cares if he favours a certain style of wrestling? Who cares if he gave one match more than another? It's HIS opinion. Not to mention that it's literally just an arbitrary number on whether or not he liked a wrestling match.
Yes we do know how it works, If Dave is reviewing a WWE show Then every match is absolute crap except for one that was really good and if it's in AW show them everything is 5 to 9 stars.

How about a compromise for Dave's ratings, anything over 5 stars goes on a separate best of all time list that's just ranked greatest to least greatest
Stong vs O'Reilly wasn't close enough to Japan to get a higher rating for Meltzer. With Jericho he needs to give one of his main AEW source a decent rating

I would of vastly preferred if in the danielson osprey match they held some back so the show was for ALL for swerve's win then build a ppv solely around danielson osprey 2.
