Thank you so much man I was half way done with the same brake job replacing calipers too I had no idea what the hell I needed, Firestone told me they wouldn’t use my parts and that I’d have to buy them from them so I ended up doing it in their parking lot
Hey this was a great video. I followed it to the letter and it worked awesome. Quick question though on the Mercedes Benz nameplate that covers the calipers….what are those called? Mine are faded and dusty and I want to get new ones….
Hello, What part of the car did you use to lift the front of the car. The hood of the car blocks the view. Where do I buy the Mercedes jack pads? I'll look for them but if you remember where you got them it would help.
On my Mercedes, there is a rubber jack point towards the front of the car, in the middle. It allows you to lift both front wheels off the ground at the same time.
When I turn my wheel to the side like you did to access it easier my steering automatically recenters. Any idea what would cause this? Does it in either direction.
While your car is on the jack stand with tires removed, carefully turn your car on and turn the wheel using the steering wheel. After it’s turned to your desired direction turn off your vehicle and get to work.
You need to clean with brake clean the hub before you put the rotors on. Brake clean and a light piece of sand paper, steel wool or even a metal brush. Then put the rotors back on. Now spray the rotors really good to remove any and all sealant or protection. Never leave this protective material on the rotors for the brake pad to clean off. That’s simply crazy. Other than those two things Oh wait..... You need to check the direction of each rotor to make sure that it’s not on the wrong side of the vehicle. Most new rotors have a small sticky paper saying “right” & “left” on them!! But not every kit has this. You will lose about 50% of your braking power if you get them on the wrong side of the car!!!! These things I’ve written here are all things that “must” be done...... Not just one of them. But all of them!!!!
Great tips! On this car, the rotors are not directional. Regarding the coating, I've seen people go both ways on this. I've never had an issue not removing the coating before installing though. Cheers.
Car Fanatic your rotors were drilled but not slotted? I drive a CLK500. When I upgraded I went to drilled an slotted. They were directional. I talked with a friend of mine that has a pretty large shop. He said the drilled holes should alway start at the top then as the turn in a forward rotation the wall down. I’m not sure about the cleaning part. He says it is better safe then Sorry. Clean, clean, clean. When you are finished Cleaning. Clean them again!!!

How are the break pads holding up, any squeals? Are they ceramic?

How are you liking the rotors?
No complaints!
construct issue sandels
Lube the pins and antiseize goes on the hub.
I leave the rotor screw out after removed.
Project next paint calipers
You installed the wrong brake pad on the outside. This is the piston side for the other side of the car. Otherwise good Job.
Don't mess with Mercedes Benz. Experience.
