    Fantastic tutorial. I completed my first ever brake discs and pads change yesterday following this. You also showed me how to do an oil and filter change previously. Thanks so much. Perhaps you should put a link for people to buy you a coffee (or a pint) somewhere in the description? 👍

    I have never changed Discs or Pads on any vehicle I've owned but after watching this video I may attempt. A super video and audio description . Well done.

    Great deeply detailed video. I’ve noticed there are 2 different caliper designs with these model years and it definitely makes a difference.

    • @murraygreen8706
      @murraygreen8706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! If you have one that isn't shown in any video I have found there are some surprises. Just record your removal and replace the same. There is a spring holding the outer pad which may give you some grief. Can't find any torque numbers. In the dealer manual no doubt Use locktite

    • @iTsTHumpa
      @iTsTHumpa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@murraygreen8706 luckily mine didn’t have a spring. Unless you’re talking about the piston? Just push it in with a c clamp 🗜 and good to go

      Glad you didn't have to deal with the spring. I have only seen one image on the internet that looks like my car but no info.

    Hey great video... was wondering if that black plate on your caliper that usually says mercedes benz is removeable for the w204? Also copper, aluminum, silicone, purple ceramic... which is best for brake jobs the amount of different materials for the same job makes this confusing. I bought some purple ceramic which they said is supposed to be the cream of the crop and I think it actually is causing my brakes to stick and freeze by turning into a gum sort of mess combined with the brake dust.

    Bonjour, merci pour la vidéo, ma question est-ce que il y a un seul sens de montage du disque en fonction du sens de rotation de la roue

  • @Mark-cm9ls
    @Mark-cm9ls 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've watch Yr vid and though am going give it a go..you made it look so easy..when I put the discs and pads on though I turned them by hand and could here a on off scraping sound and the discs were marked where the pads where rubbing..thought they just need bedding in so put wheels back on for test drive only to smell burning and see smoke..is this normal for new pads and discs

    • @timb7775
      @timb7775 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you compressed the caliper piston all the way back you should not get the pads scraping the rotors. Did you use OEM or aftermarket parts?

      Are there arrows on the back of the pads? If so, these should point in the direction that the disc goes when travelling forwards.

      Rotor screw 10nm. Caliper bolts 34nm. Brake carrier bolts 110nm. Front. Rear should be similar.

    Is there no need to bleed the brakes? Will it be okay if I just change the pads or do you need to bleed the brakes then?

    Couple of points. It would have been best to use thread lock on the carrier bolts. Mercedes do that. Also, no need to clean the metal clips as new ones come with the new pads.

    Wish I’d watched this video first!
    None of the other guides I watched had a plate on the calliper. I tried to remove mine so that I could use the piston return tool and it snapped off.
    It doesn’t seem like the most critical component so I’m hoping that it won’t cause issues. I don’t suppose you can shed some light on it?

    • @SelectVehicleSpares
      @SelectVehicleSpares  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the plates on each end of the caliper where the brake pads slide in to? If so, yes these are required, nothing should be missing from the brake setup, they are there from the factory for a reason.

    • @dj_notnice
      @dj_notnice ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just a plate used for decals such as AMG

  • @mikemaster9545
    @mikemaster9545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is a wrong way to push the caliper from one side because it would damage a piston and sometimes it goes in just from the top the way you push it in.
