It's not that they aren't diving deeper, it's that they don't know to do that because their reality is being pushed onto them by mainstream. Mainstream wants to give you the impression that only mainstream exists. Music, celebrity, movies, products, and recently, the algorithms on the internet made it so you can only find mainstream sources, paid advertisers and stuff. You can no longer find independent hobbyist blogs or people simply giving education and information nearly as easily as you used to be able to.
The beauty is that the average person is extremely accepting of conceptual bravery, it’s the streaming services, radio stations and syncers that sit around, drinking overpriced coffee in cardigans that think they’re the self appointed prime minister of culture and trends, spitefully flexing power over all of their ~musical~ ‘friends’ who were too talented to pursue brain rotting corporate curation like themselves
I mean… there's Perth warm and then there's Broome warm. Personally, I wouldn't walk around like that in the equivalent of May for my European ass having been raised in a climate similar to Perth's (which, here, is November and honestly, you won't see me without a jacket at that point).

Sometimes it's better this way, they have a genuine incredible talent, and they would only be turned into manufactured pop. They have there fans and hopefully we are enough. There aren't many people that sound even better live.
