Bretons as you have said make the best Battlemages. Although they only have 50 magic resistance this stacks to 100 if you have the Mundane Ring. A Breton with the Mundane Ring is completely immune to magic as in no magic will ever harm you no matter what it is. Bretons work as Battlemages because they are tanky magic characters which are what Battlemages basically are. Bretons work best however with either the Mage or better yet the Atronach. The Atronach is so op because not only do you absorb 50% of the spells when you are hit they only do 50% damage. As for the build I would suggest around three magic skills if you are using the Atronach sign and four if you’re using the mage sign. The reason for this is that if your magicka doesn’t regenerate you won’t be using as many spells just because won’t level them as fast. Then go either Armorer, Block, Alchemy, Heavy Armor, Light Armor, Blade, or Blunt. Of those I’d say go Heavy over light since you’re meant to be a tank and Blade over Blunt because blade weapons have more powerful unique weapons found throughout the world. Alchemy is important if you are using the Atronach sign to get Magicka back. The others are important for combat. As for which magic skills I’d say go with Destruction Conjuration and Alteration and maybe Mysticism if you want four skills. However since it’s magic any of them will really work except for Illusion which is difficult to incorporate into a Battlemage playstyle. If it seems like I’m writing a lot it’s because Bretons are my favorite race and I’ve played them the most.

I haven't really played Bretons, but I know they are OP. However, to make something effective for noobs is tricky, since they won't understand the magic system. I've always thought, for the life of me, that Bretons had a 75% magic resistance. Maybe that's because Wood Elves have 75% against disease and poison.

    Watching this in 2024.
    Watched another video last week.
Put 40 hours into my new mage. Messed up 2 major skills and I'm cool with starting over.

The Lady is a Good choich for a magic build. Personally however, I would go for the Mage, which gives you +50 raw Magicka.
The endurance you miss, can be mitigated by choosing Endurance as one of your favored attribute.
    For example:
    ---
    Race: Breton
    Birthsign: The Mage (+50 Magicka)
    Custom Class:
    [Specialization]
    -Strength
    [Favored Attributes]
    -Endurance
    -Luck
    [Major Skills]
    -Conjuration
    -Destruction
    -Light Armor
    -Marksman
    -Restoration
    -Sneak
    -Speechcraft
    ---
The Reason for this is that specializing in Strength gives a boost to your physical skill growths (Athletics, Armorer, Blade, Block, Blunt and Heavy Armor) which govern the attributes Strength & Endurance.
The Major Skills, boosts that what your Specialization doesn't govern: (Intelligence, Willpower, Agility, Speed & Personality).
The reason Luck is chosen as a Favored Attribute, is because there is no skill which governs Luck, thus it's growing at a very slow pace. Thus the initial +5 in the attribute is very welcome.

The reason I always pick either the Lady or the Warrior for a build that maxes stuff out is because the 10 more endurance points adds up at the end of the game, giving something like 20-30 points of extra health depending on how things level.
For a Breton in a normal playthrough where you just play the game and don't min max like a nerd, I do like the mage or the atronach. Luck sucks to level as usual lol.

    Bretons have 50% magic resistance.
I would switch Restoration fir Conjuration.
And i always put Luck and Endurance as my 2 attributes no matter the build (excluding role playing)
    But good build after all

I too like conjuration, I think for a noob it's too complex of a skill to make much use out of. Once they understand magic use, it's better.

@@PacifictheCasualGamer I agree... but if we add the ability to fortify skills/atts then Restoration is the most complex skill, no noob is going to bother with it however.
Grinding to 100 at level 1 or 2 is always overpowered and game breaking... which you can't do if you have it as a major skill.

Fortify is complex, I did it more for the heals. I guess it depends on who the person is? Yeah, making a 100 at level 1 and 2 is op af.

Restoration rules ! With a renown of 10 you can get the Jone stone that allows Fortify Skill in the spell making altar. For a Breton, grinding up Restoration is easy since it's boosted to start with and spamming the starting heal-self spell will raise it whether your injured or not. I agree with Nikolas.

Speed is my favorite with alchemy. Born under the sighn of the Steed my argonian has the range with a 2 handed sword. No one can close in on me im just to fast. Unless im in tight corners.

In oblivion or Skyrim every race is flawed the Bretons flaw is they have slightly less health than imperials and less carry weight as well because their plus is more towards a mage build so they have higher magic and magic resistance their is no perfect race you just pick one based on which you think is the biggest threat being melee magic or diesease and poison

So... What's not a noob build. Normally i go with a basic assassin with marksman sneak with a little bit of alchemy

    • @PacifictheCasualGamer
      @PacifictheCasualGamer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Normally, the more things you have to do make builds harder. Also, if they have things that don't fit together.

Don’t listen to this guy keeps saying “now I believe..” and then states incorrect information. Check Reddit guides if you want actual info on the game.
