1. Yes. You should gravel up all the way to the house. Else you will have a mud-road instead. :) 2. You should build a roof over the firewood instead. An open design with a roof covering the firewood, but with an open front will allow air to circulate and keep the wood dry. Also make sure that there is a good 30cm or so from the back of the firewood to the house wall. The roof and side wall should of course go to the house wall to make sure snow does not get inside there, but you never want to stack anything up against the house wall. It can create unwanted fungus growths. Having a tarp covering from gound and around will make the air inside fluctuate between hot and cold and create moist inside. Moist that can create a good condition for fungus to grow. Som fungus can grow alot and travel through ground and even through stone walls. I have worked on insurence jobs where I have seen what fungus are capable of. Love to see your videos and welcome to my home country :) I have driven past the spot before not to long ago. I recognized the roads in the first video. Live down in southern Värmland. I work not far from the cafe you stopped at in the first video :P
Thanks for writing point two! Is it the way to go for fresh firewood as well? I took down a few smaller trees in the summer and chopped them up for firewood. But I realize I have no idea how to store them to ensure that they dry out. Cheers from southestern Värmland :)
@@the-nomad-showgood cover over the top of your woodpile will protect it, and be sure the cover is slanted to shed moisture away from the pile's base. Hi. Please remove the tarp from the fire wood. Just put some other kind of top, like tin roofing (metal roof) on top. Kind regards a neighbour 70 km south of you1
It is very interesting and fun to follow you with your work on the house. However, I would like to point out that you should not have a tarpaulin over the entire wood, but use pallets or the like underneath and only have something above that covers the wood, such as sheet metal or the like. This is for the wood to dry optimally. Keep up the good work!
New upload so soon, I love it! As a new house owner it also seems like a smart move to show stuff you're doing and get feedback to help avoid future problems.
When you sweep the deck (or wood floors anywhere) it's easier and more efficient to sweep along the boards. You'll remove all the dust and stuff that falls in the grooves that way too. Over time this will saver your wood decking from rot.
I love the editing style and the music choice, it's so humble yet somewhat depressing but in an old school way. And being on the country side it all comes together so well 🙌
That looks nice, having the attitude to just sit down and relax. Fika time is important, also when you are alone. And you have gotten a lot done, so relaxing is well earned!
Are you really sure that you should seal with joint foam between the roof and the wall? The space between the roof and the insulation is usually ventilated.
Why did you leave Germany? I was quite happy living in Poland, but two years ago I moved to Finland, I went from living in a city of about 500,000 people to village of 2,000, but I now live in a 180sqm wooden log house... having more land and being able to be self-sustainable was one of my goals, but I don't feel any affinity with the culture here, it's so different to Poland. Unhappy and unfriendly people, even kids. At least land is quite cheap up at these latitudes.

The birdbox will hopefully bring some cute little friends to your yard. Happy to have you back!

Agree with person above, with a roof u let the Wood get more air. With a tarp u also close in moisture
Just here to third this
You should be so proud of your achievements!🌷 I's a joy to watch your progress. Greetings from another German in Värmland!

Sitting on the deck with a coffee must feel so good. The house is looking comfortable. Thanks for the update!

This is interesting having an adventure to a new place. Good luck and mostly enjoy your journey in Sweden

Future balcony in the back there, nice sun spot by the looks of it!
I love the music you use for your videos’

Good comments: No tarp over the firewood. Keep it away (under roof) from rain and snow but let it breathe. Keep up the good work 🚘
Nog altijd tevreden in Zweden hoop ik. Hou je goed
absolutely my new favorite youtube channel🙃 want to go to sweden so bad!
Nice video and nice work on the property.
Hey man, just watched your first video an couple of days ago, great job! Keep up the good work! (and keep posting :P)
Yes Gravel all the way.

Best Video about elks i've ever seen! Keep Posting!
I love the temporary fix! Thanks for the update!
Nice video :)
Nice to see your upload again!
Absolutely awesome. I am in love with this adventure.
your new roof looks good.
Treating the house spiders some whipped cream before the winters is a nice touch!
(In all seriousness, loved the video!)
It's a little late in the year but you should probably stock up on more firewood.
Better to have too much than too little, just saying.
Are you really sure that you should seal with joint foam between the roof and the wall?
The space between the roof and the insulation is usually ventilated.
I don't know if you played the videogame Braids but that's the feeling I get from this video
I like the wall hung wood rack. Where did you get it please?
If possible, try to build a roof over the firewood. The tarp traps the moisture and will keep the logs wet instead of letting them dry out
which part of sweden is that?
Fantastic mountains and forest - is it Dalarna you located at ?
