Solar did choose the " unibrow" in honor of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Nice catch:)

if she knows anything about Frida that's actually really cool given she suffered so much for Diego. It's really fitting to the theme of the song.

I'm so surprised you've not checked this one out before.
I too loved the fact that no high notes or belts were needed to make the song good. Like you said, we know Mamamoo has great vocals and they can easily hit the high notes. Here they let the acting, the facial expressions, and the visuals make the song so so so so good. I just love their more mature vibe and the confidence they put out.

Personally, I am really surprised that 'AYA' did not overtake 'HIP' as Mamamoo's most-viewed song on their channel. Maybe it's just too much for Koreans to take but I LOVE 'AYA' way more than 'HIP' (and I LOVE 'HIP')! Meh. Maybe it can over-take it in the future.
So, Hwasa gave a spoiler for 'AYA' in her Dom costume at the very end of the MV for 'Dingga'. Somebody handed her the pick-axe while part of the tune from 'AYA' played in the background... :)

oriental vibe for this song it's almost the same vibe than Egotistic to me even if Egotistic was more Latino . in général i love Mamamoo for they're vocal songs ( Decalcomanie , piano man , Wooho , and all they're great vocal songs ) but when they came with more fierce concept Hip , Egotistic or Aya we can see they're silly and crazy side .

Very good interpretation for the first view, esp considering the constant visual distractions. I had to watch Aya dozens of times and do some research to answer all the questions it brings up. Along the way I heard that MMM was being accused of cultural appropriation because of the Arabian Nights concept, which happened to be one of the main things I was contemplating (the concept, not the CA, which is BS): Why did they chose an Arabian Nights concept for a breakup song and then why did they introduce outlandish characters who have nothing to do with the Arabian Nights?
One of the clues is that they're not appropriating actual Arabian culture - the main set and costume design were inspired by exotic depictions of the Middle East including 19th C orientalist European art, Scheherazade and other productions by the Ballets Russes in the early 20th C, and Disney movies like Aladdin. The point is that the love story has been an exotic fantasyland, a self-composed romance novel as seductive as the snake charmer flute and just as delusional and fictional as the orientalist art. When they wake to that realization the happy ending drops to the ground.
Love is risky business in most MMM songs and passion and desire are often expressed in visceral terms. Escaping this love story and extricating themselves is going to be difficult and painful and that's where the outlandish characters come in. The obvious ones are
Hwasa as a dominatrix dentist extracting her feelings by whacking away at them with a pickaxe and Moonbyul looking like she wandered in from a Robin Hood movie, killing her feelings with an arrow and a gun. Wheein is the only pacifist of the bunch and, as you noticed, she goes from the oppressive, stifling repressed harem of the relationship symbolized by the dark makeup, veils and hats to the liberated self represented by the scene where she magically makes all the lights in the room come on. Solar's character is the most difficult to interpret imo. She said that the unibrow was indeed inspired by Frida Kahlo but didn't explain what Frida had to do with the song or why she was dressed like an Asian ghost with the extremely long hair and white dress. Frida lived most of her life in pain after her pelvis was impaled during a bus accident when she was a teenager. Young female asian ghosts are thought to be haunted by lost love. Put them together in the context of Solar's situation in the song and you get the final scene where Solar impales the bowl of her tears with a dagger to exorcize her lingering feelings.
In the Arabian Nights Scheherazade tells the 1001 tales every night to her new husband and always concludes with a cliffhanger to make him want to hear the rest of the story the following night rather than kill her in the morning as he had done with all his previous wives. The stakes aren't quite as high in Aya but the urgency and desperation to survive are almost as intense. I think of the bizarre characters they play as tales from stories Scheherazade never got around to telling. 😂
