Edward Carlisle is an amazing Pianist. The way he plays Tears of Thornbridge Manor on the piano at the end, after you killed Alexa and start heading down as the piano echos this song throughout the place, it just gives me intense chills. It's so perfect
Exfiltration sounds incredibly creepy, combined with Diana's transmission being cut off. Really makes you feel lonely and knowing that something went *terribly* wrong.
Agreed. The first time I played it, I was weirded out by the absence of the usual triumphant exfiltration theme, and played the rest of the level feeling on edge the entire time.
The part where your walking up the stairs slowly with the butler and he's telling you everything he knows explaining to you theres a murder mystery while this plays is SO GOOD. 29:19
I truly love how gloomy Dartmoor as a whole is. The forlorn music, gray skies, and themes of death in the level really make the level feel depressing. And the sad mood is fitting; even if you _are_ about to kill the most powerful--and perhaps the most wicked--woman on Earth, it doesn't feel like a major victory. After all, Alexa _knows_ that she is the last Partner alive and has only returned to her home to cement the Carlisle family's legacy. She knows that death awaits her, so instead of feeling very triumphant when you kill her, it only really feels like you've done what's expected. It feels like you've completed a plan, nothing more. As mentioned, the level just feels like a tragedy. Even though I detest the Carlisles, I did find it kind of sad that Zachary was really only murdered by Emma to strike back at Alexa for killing her father, Montgomery, which she did to solidify herself as the head of the Carlisles. But it gets even _sadder_ when you discover that Montgomery was going to transfer his power to Alexa anyway because he didn't want to lead the Carlisles. Again, I hate the Carlisles and Alexa with a burning passion, but seeing how genuinely distraught and heartbroken Alexa was after learning that she murdered her brother for nothing made me a little sad, too. But her heartbreak and subsequent suicide seems kind of like poetic justice. At least the silver lining to learning the deepest, darkest secrets of the Carlisle family is learning that that asshat of a child, Patrick, is inbred. Hehe. Each room having its own theme is a nice touch. I think that the graveyard theme is underrated, though. Whenever I choose the private investigator infiltration, and the level begins on the Zachary's corpse with the graveyard lament playing, it never fails to give me the chills.
Is every Carlisle family member bad?It seems only Montgomery,Alexa and Zachary are part of Providence.The rest of the family may not even be part of or aware of Providence.I did feel bad for Edward considering how his mother treated and from we what we know of him,he doesn't seem to be that much of a bad person apart from being very clingy with his ex-wife Cassie after making several phone calls of her.Rebecca also involved with Providence judging by the conversation between Mr Fernsby and Alexa Carlisle when they meet up before Alexa enters Zachary's room and is also concerned for Edward's wellbeing.
I LOVE this map's atmosphere. It reminds me a ton of the mansion near the end of James Bond Skyfall. And the cloudy depressing atmosphere combined with the ominous and depressing strings for the music, it's just such a beautifully bleak map, and the story with the family and the funeral and even Alexa Carlisle herself, it just all comes together so well and fits this map like a glove. In my opinion, this map has the best atmosphere out of any other map in the trilogy.
This level, the atmosphere, the music, everything about it just speaks one word and that word is depression. Especially the graveyard. I love that kind of sad and haunting ambience.
I barely notice the music of many games but then I started hearing some versions of dies irae, just inside the mansion when walking around, the classic funeral song on this map and started paying attention to it.
I just listened to this track while walking, on a cloudy end of afternoon, it was quite fitting, and a really pleasing experience. Thank you for this awesome mix !
The little scale flourishes (idk if that's the right word) remind me of the intro to the Midsomer Murders theme, which I have to assume is intentional given the murder mystery and that John Hopkins was one of the main characters.
I did all mission stories on my first playthrough which i dont usually do but because i knew the murder mystery was the main canon mission story i did the others and saved the best for last and man was it worth it despite that first playthrough lasting a couple hours
