Thanks. While a few other of my kits in recent years have been nostalgic rebuilds of kits I built as I kid, none were as sentimental as this kit. Almost every part of the kit was exactly as I remembered it. I was so glad I could do it all over again.
Thanks Tom. This was a kit I really hoped I could find someday so I was thrilled to see it in one of our local shops over a year ago. You've never seen anyone snatch a kit off a shelf faster than I did that day.
Great results - I especially like the attention you paid to that ridge brow on his forehead. That bothered me on the original as a kid, and again on the one that's currently in my stash, waiting for me. Gave me food for thought on how to approach it.
When I search online these days I see that most model builders fix the forehead issue. Most while try to remove it entirely as I did, but some just make it much smaller. I hope you have as much fun building yours as I did mine. I just picked up a Mummy kit on Monday to add to my stash. Definitely more monsters to come on my channel. Thanks for watching.
Well I've now provided the solution to 'reptilian' seamwork so you have no excuses. 😄 Lucky for you to even have 2 kits. I hope you do build one or both before long.
I have a few (The Phantom of the Opera, King Kong and Dracula) in my stash that I will be getting to over the next year or so. Since they are so hard to find I don't want to build them all right away. I hope to find more and always keep my eyes peeled for the others I'm missing.
Looks awesome Dario, too bad there are so many seams to fix. You really did your research, lots of intereresting info on the movie. The additional details on the base look great. I'd be tempted to brush some Future over his eyes, mouth, hands and feet to make them look a little more shiny and wet. The snake looks amazing. Nicely done buddy.
Thanks. I did put Future on both the Creature and the lizard's eyes. I do not mind seams as long as they are 'fixable'. (PS: I did manage to make a quick stop at that Kinston model Flea Market yesterday on the way back from Toronto. Picked up two kits and had a nice chat with "The Lazy Eyed Modeler". We'll discuss more at our next meetup)
That came out really nice. I built one maybe 20 years ago. I went with a gloss green with a lightly brushed gold over that. That's the good thing about black and white movies - you can do any color you want to LOL. There have been other Creature model kits but this old Monogram model can still hold it's own - especially with the updated fixes you have done to the parts 👍
Thanks. While I love this Creature kit above the others, now that I've built him again I'm hoping I can some of the other newer/different kits just so I can have him in different poses.
@@dariosmodelbuilds That's a good point 🙂 One of the creatures for the movie (the one that did many of the diving scenes) , Ricou Browning, lived here in Florida before he passed away.
@@brucek3217 Yes Ricou passed away only about a year ago (one of the last surviving actors from the film) and from what I understand he was still appearing at conventions until close to the end of his life. I mention him in my video an include one of his 'long' dive scenes.
Thanks. Unlike some of the other monster kits, there is not too much you can add or modify with the kit. Those who have tend to just add trees and shrubs. The good news is that this kit looks great on it's own so you can't go wrong. The hardest part is figuring out which shade of green you want the Creature to be, and how much shading and color accents. But its a really fun and trouble free build.
Nice to see a considered build for this kit - although, considering your sponsor, I'm wondering why you didn't pick a re-pop of one of Aurora's monster flyer kits?! 😊 I also built this as a kid but I still have my "adult build" copy sat in the stash - probably scared off by those seams! I'm wondering if you couldn't, after sanding, soften them with Tamiya thin and then drop in some micro balls from a water filter. Some Mr Surfacer over the top and, hopefully, Bob's your uncle?! Just one last note - the company X-Plus have already released a cracking "Revenge of the Creature" kit and will be releasing a swimming version (similar to the old Aurora Monsters of the Movies line) next year 😊
Thanks for watching. I don't know why you think I have a sponsor. I don't but wish I did. 💰 The 'host' I mentioned is just another TH-cam channel that challenges others to build something to a theme. They are called "Group Builds". Click on the link in my notes to see that particular GB that was for. I just build whatever kits I can get my hands on and do the best I can with them. I know about the Revenge kit (looks great) but did not know they will be releasing another. Those tend to be out of my price range but I do keep an eye out for the occasional bargain on those. As for the other techniques to get specific textures, there are many and I try different ones depending on what I think may work. I have used glue to soften a surface and apply suitable texture on other models.
Awesome !! I remember building him growing up. Great memories. Nice job.👍

Great rendition! Would love to see you tackle some more Auroras.
Definitely more Aurora (or repop) monsters in my future as I already mentioned in the video.
Really nice work on the Creature Dario, turned out really nice, it's a classic kit, glad Atlantis has brought it back, 😎👍

Awesome, we wonna buy one model like this (better finished and painted )
Looks awesome Dario! Turned out super! That movie was filmed just a few hours drive from me at Wakulla Springs!
Thanks. Cool that you are so close to the filming site. Keep those doors locked (for creatures and hurricanes!)
Great looking creature figure Dario, I have 2 to build but fear the seamwork required after gluing the halves together.😮

Awesome build of an awesome kit I really love all the classic Universal Monsters awesome job 🤙🛞💨🏁🤘🤘

Good to know, thanks for the update, looking forward to our next meeting.

Great build!
Excellent job, Sir and I like the epoxy idea for the scales
Thanks. My little contribution to the hobby. 😁
Well done. I've got this kit in the stash. Can't quite figure out what I want to do with it.

@@dariosmodelbuilds Sorry, I meant group build 😳!
