Thanks! And thanks for grabbing the sub. They've been sitting on the shelf for a while and I think a few are starting to turn. Might have to start offering a BOGO deal.....🤔
I used a braided throttle cable, measured how far it would pull in at wot, trimmed it, and crimped a ferrule on the end. Then I cut off a section of my solid choke cable and stuck that in the other side of the ferrule and crimped it down. The solid cable then gets clamped in the carb and so no worries with cutting through the braided cable. a.co/d/dv3XzX6

Hello. Cool video. Just my opinion but I don't like the adjustable main jet on a bendix. It would run good one day, be to rich or lean the next. I went to a 100 fixed jet, the bike had a 110 factory and ran good and clean. Kick started easy also. A correctly set up bendix works well with a magneto.
Thanks for the tip! I found myself getting frustrated with problem after problem so I stepped away from it but when I feel like I don't want to throw the bike off a cliff and get back at it I'll keep your suggestion in mind.
The ‘64 would have either had a Linkert or Tillotson. The Bendix is a better carb but as the package said ‘71-up. If the main goal is getting it running this is the one to use. (Also those early carb’s didn’t have a return spring for the throttle. Your bike would have had handlebars where the left twist grip moved the magneto and the right grip the throttle).
The magneto adjusting grip (ignition advance/retard I'm guessing?) Would have been awesome to have and figure out. Sadly, I'm stuck with a boring stationary grip.
It looks like the original handlebars have been replaced so you can’t run the old style piano wire control from the grip to the magneto. I might have a set of early buckhorns (bare) I might get rid of if you wanted to put in the effort to go back to stock.
No John Kelly. 64 was the last year of the magneto locked down in the advanced position from the factory. The spark timing became adjustable from the left twistgrip in 1965. I have run both set-ups and didn't have any trouble starting the bike with the locked-down-in-full-advanced position.
Great video. Thanks for the free subscription 😃

I had to chase the threads on the air screw with an 10-32 die because of the chrome on it. Afterwards it worked fine.

@@johnranallo424 Got it! Thanks.
Great video 😊 how did the accelerator pump work out for you?
Pretty good, actually.
It might be the best working part on the bike.
I was born in 64 and want a 64!
Have a perfect stroker ironhead....perfect!!!!!! Lets talk
Kim dip is good it's it's.. if you can't afford a Sonic cleaner that's a good cleaner
I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. The carb came out clean as a whistle.
Thanks for watching!
ummmmm... I passed on my itchy finger, but good stuff for a tired old carb
