Therm-a-Rest Xtherm Sleeping Pad Stats :
Price : When I originally purchased the Xthrem 10 years ago, it cost me $150 for the regular size. Now, the Xtherm runs around $250 - give or take depending on where you order it from.
Colors : There are 2, both are shades of gray - one is bluish gray and the other is gray gray like you see here.
Versions : There are two versions, a mummy cut and a rectangle version. There is also a version that is even more lightweight - I prucahsed the heavier model as it is more durable and it is warmer.
Materials : 70D nylon on the bottom withstands the wear and tear of extended expedition use, while 30D ripstop nylon on top keeps it light and packable.
Weight : 15.5oz
Sizes : Regular, Regular Wide, and Large
Dimensions Stored : 9” x 4.5”
Dimensions Inflated : 20” Wide, 72” Long, 3” Thick
R-Value : An incredible 7.3 - that is very high for an air mattress.
How? : Therm-a-Rest was able to accomplish this high R-value due to two thermal technologies that they implement into this pad - one is called the Triangular core Matrix and the other is ThermaCapture - both of these you can look up on the Therm-a-rest web site.
Included : Pump Sack, Stuff Sack and Repair Kit
Made : One of the very few outdoor products that remains to be made in the USA.

I really appreciate how you are one of the very few people who will review budget brands like onetigris and boundless voyage.
Believe they just recently got it tested and the R value was 6.2
Website says ags tested. Not atsm.......
Luke, I just happened to look at your subscriber numbers and I have to say that it's really cool how far you've come. I started watching you around 2013/2014, around the time I started getting into backpacking. Now you're over 600k, and you still haven't taken sponsorships. I can't say that's rare because "rare" implies that it happens occassionally...and you're the only product reviewer of any kind that I've Ever seen that doesn't take anything from companies. Congrats on the well-deserved success and thanks for being entirely consistent for over a decade.
Hear Hear
Take a bow, my friend. You definitely deserve first place in the TH-cam camping gear reviewers Hall of Fame. You are the best, PERIOD. Dave & The Girls.
Hey Luke! Quick tip for using inflation bags. Instead of rolling all the way, just roll a couple of times to stop air from escaping, then wrap one arm around the bottom neck of the inflation bag like a head lock, and lift it off the ground slightly (so you aren't pushing directly into the ground). Then use the other hand to push the air down into the pad from the top!
This will push through a large amount of air with minimal effort. Once you've pushed most of the air, unroll, reinflate and repeat. I've inflated pads very fast with this method, super convenient!
I bought this pad a few months ago and have used it 3 times in low temps ranging from 28* to 41* F in Washington State. I used it with a Zinbivy sheet and quilt, and I slept comfortably and warm all 3 nights inside the OneTigris Stella tent.
I was a bit skeptical when it first arrived, because the pad seemed loud compared to others I’ve used, but this hasn’t been an issue for me. I think the Zinbivy sheet helps reduce the noise a lot.
When I hold the pad up to light, I can see several shiny marks where it looks like the aluminum layers inside are showing through the nylon fabric. It’s hard to describe, but it looks like pieces of the aluminum have “rubbed off” onto the nylon from inside. These might be points where the aluminum is glued to the nylon to keep the internal layers in place, and I’m hoping it doesn’t indicate any potential problems.
So far it’s been a great pad, and for $79 I think it’s a fantastic deal. All pads eventually fail, but I’m hoping to get many trips out of this.
Also, I don’t like using the inflation bag at all. I plan on buying a small pump like the Flextail. Can you do a review on a few pumps, Luke?
The Sleeping bag material is 20D on both sides whereas the ground side of my XTherm is 70D. 70D vs 20D ground side is a deal breaker for me if I didn't already have the XTherm. The much lower price will attract a lot of buyers.
Only time will tell if the OneTigris Sleeping bag is sufficiently resistant to leaks/punctures.
Thanks Luke, as always, the effort you put into testing adn researching is outstanding.
Stay safe and God bless.
I love my OneTigris gear. Looks like I'll add this sleeping pad to my inventory. Thanks for the review, Luke.
Finally! I've been waiting for this.
Luke, it was a few years ago that you did the review on One Tigris camping chairs. I bought 3 of them they are awesome! One Tigris is a legit brand and I wouldn’t have any problem buying any thing from them! Keep up the great work! Strength and Honor!
Aftewr you posted the video i put the onetigres sleeping pad on my amazon wish list. This morning when i got paid, i went to buy it......THEY SOLD OUT!!! lol I can only imagine it is because of the honest review you gave! thank you for all that you do and for being unbiased and honest with your reviews!!
I just recently found OneTigris and I am excited to see more about this sleeping pad!
Sweet looking forward to future reviews.
Holy hell. This look super promising. Looking forward to the full review.
Hi Luke! This new pad IS quite exciting if it turns out to work well! Looking forward to see how it works out!
I have been waiting for you to grab one of these for review
Another great review Luke.👍
So far looks great, rock on one tirgres.
I have a few One Tigris items, including a couple of tents. I'm a huge fan of their stuff and haven't yet purchased something I don't like. Bought my first One Tigris product, the Rock Fortress Hot Tent because of this channel actually, so thank you for that.
Definitely on the radar. Waiting for updates
Reviewing stuff that people can actually afford is the best.
Been waiting for you to cover this lol. The moment I saw this on Amazon I had to pick it up
awesome. i can't wait to see testing time for that pad. 👍👍
I saw this the other day and thought you would review it. Seems like a good option so far. I use a tiny air pump with a light built in and love it.
FLEXTAILGEAR Tiny PUMP2 X
Looking forward to see it is as warm and how it performs. It’s definitely a great bang for your buck if it is.
I'm Really Excited about this Pad!!!
Smaller storage size, thickness, quietness and warmth.
I more likely will purchase this Pad
Thank you One Tigris.!!
I look forward to further review
I currently have a klynex. Which is great. I need more thickness and warmth.
I’m interested. Looking forward to your review!
Nice review as usual.
man this company is killing it
You should take a look at the onetigris gastropod tent! It’s one of their new products and it looks super interesting. Would love to see a video on it!
Looking forward to next adventure. Greetings from Brooklyn NY 😎
Loved this video so awesome. :)
I'm also very excited for the full review of this sleeping pad. I have one and have used it in moderately cold weather conditions (30's) and it has been great for me. That pump sack is very heavy (Luke pointed out, its basically a dry bag) but I use an electric air pump/light combo so it's not an issue. There is nothing out there at this price point that compares with this pad and I can't wait for TOGR to give it a no nonsense full review!!
Don’t own the pad myself, but it seems like a nice pad, as long as durability is not an issue. And as you said it seems like the warmth holds up to the R-value.
Props for calling out how hard it is to get some of these sleeping pads into the bag. I have an ancient self-inflating Thermarest pad that was incredibly hard to bag for the first 10 years.
I got mine today!
I’m a Nemo guy but for the price and needing two For the kids, I figured it was worth a try. So far I like it a lot! Will do a New England backyard test this weekend
I think you are one of if not the most honest reviewer on TH-cam. I trust everything you say. Thank you!
More and more One Tigris is producing quality budget camping gear.
Honestly loving onetigris. Super budget friendly while actually giving a good product. Bungalow 2.0 is a solid favorite
I love one Tigris. LOVE them
I actually have this sleeping pad will be using it this weekend on a camp as its still very cold in Scotland
When is it never cold up here? 😂
Please, Please let us know the results of your real life outdoor usage. I'm wondering if it will stay inflated all night. The 20D ground side fabric seems like it will be prone to punctures. The XTherm ground side material is 70D.
Warm Regards from far away Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
Drink whisky and you wont care as much!
I have a Nemo and an Exped in the same denier 20D. I have only used them a few times, but as long as you take a bit of extra care with the pad, (no throwing it on sharp roots, rocks, and making sure you have taken off your pocketknife and put away your spork and not leave it in your pockets), I think it would be reasonably durable IN a tent. Also the face fabric here is nylon, so it is a bit tougher than a 20D polyester.
@@Xeno-M.Duly noted. Thank you for taking your time to share your personal experiences & thoughts.
I've stayed comfortable on my big agnes rapide tarp camping at 18F (8 windchill). Love that pad!
Me too. So nice. Only wish I'd bought the wide instead of standard.
Liking the snazzy jacket there Luke.Very cool.
Onetigris really has excellent quality especially at there price point!!✊️🔥✌️💚
Side sleeping test, noise test and thermal image comparison of different sleeping pads would be great!
Luke, when anyone asks my opinion on gear I tell them if I've used it. If I havent, and there are many, I always refer one of your videos and let them know that you're what I think of as the straightest shooter out there. Thank you.
OMG, I can not wait for the full review.
When the newest ThermaRest Xterm goes on sale, price is just about 3x over onetigris.
At least for me, sleeping pads aren't going to be replaced every so often so... buying something that provide certain level of always performing warmth could be more important than saving some money 1 time vs pad that hopefully you'll be using over and over years to come.
I bought a OneTigris tent based on your recommendation and I enjoy it. But I had a high end air mattress fail on me on a long trip so no matter the weight and bulk I'll always lug a dense foam mattress with me. The exception would be an Exped which has foam in it and having owned one I trust it. It's still a lot more bulky and heavier than an air mattress.
When blowing up a sleeping pad I prefer to use the Coleman 12v Quick pump. 30sec and done, obviously only good if you’ve got your vehicle with you, but a great little unit that saves a lot of huffing and puffing. I use the “Exped MegaMat 10 LXW” for camping in my swag and the Coleman pump is awesome! 🎉
I hope this sleeping pad turns out to be good. I have the X-therm, but I would like to get a wider pad for hot tent camping. Thanks for the heads up👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks , I like my Sea to Summit 6.2 r factor. That is a good price for the One Tigris
Luke, I believe the way to use the inflation bad is to roll the opening a few times and then buckle that end together with the supplied buckles. This is just like how a dry bag is closed.
Then the bag can be placed on the ground and you can kneel or sit on it to force air from the bag and into the pad. This method is less efficient than just rolling it up all the way because there will still be more air left in the bag after pressing the air out of the bag, but it simply uses your body weight to do all of the work.
video is only an hour old.... I bought this on Amazon while watching the video! Thanks for this one! I have been wanting the x-therm for a long time. However, I just could not pull the trigger due to cost. I do hope this holds up.
I hope it does for you as well !!
Loving the pad!! But I think I'll use my plug-in inflator 😂😂😂 Thanks Luke!!
❤😂🎉🎉🎉 That looks wonderful, yes please, do let us know how it goes!!!😊
Like the pad its Cool 😎 hope you doing well my friend like see you do review on cambat stuff in woods or faileds
...cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Looks great but a little heavy. Thanks, Luke!
Thanks for your great videos again, Luke. I wonder if you ever tried the Exped Dura 8R sleeping mat (or the old versions called Downmats). These mats are filled with down and they are really great. I bought my first one more than 10 years ago (ultra light version, still ok) and bought the new Dura 8R last year. I love them both. Regarding the inflation bag, it looks like OneTigris is kind of copying the Exped inflation bag, which looks quite similar, but is lighter and more flexible, which makes it easier to fill it with air and press it into the sleeping mat. As far as I can see (and hear) the Exped Dura 8R also doesn't make that much noise. Maybe you'd like to test it one day. Highly recommended.
Looks like this would be an excellent option.
I’ve always just put a fleece or jacket in my bag and laid on a regular foam pad. And had some pretty uncomfortable nights.. I need to get a cheap insulated pd and do some tests. I definitely am affected most by cold drafts up my back.. so these seem worthwhile. Same reason I spend a lot on the slim baselayers.. I need something skin tight or I’ll be cold no matter what’s over it.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your adventures and equipment testing and sharing the facts and truth
No big deal my friend and that's why you bring with you my friend
I just got the Gear Doctors Apollo Air Ultralight. Some great reviews of it saying it is warm as the high R value claimed, and it is only 17 oz. Might need to review it yourself? Thanks for sharing these with we the multitudes...
Patch Kit? Of course for 80 bucks get another one. Good carry size for motorcycle. I would like a wider one. Good intro.
One Tigris is only Chinese company I trust. Solid high quality products (mostly) and good price. Perfect timing with this pad. I just need new one for my next season ❤
They are still using forced child labor and are commie scum.
A great Idea on paper, but I got tired just watching you!!! I have a small battery charged inflate unit that would have that done PDQ! Great video as always!
Very interesting! Curious about the actual cold handling abilities and durability of the pad.
with the lack of labelling from OneTigris, I much prefer it, I know what stuff sacks have what in them in my gear and it keeps it nice and clean
Hey Luke have you used this mat yet? Can you give an interim update while we wait for your full review? Im in need of a new mat soon and this one might be the one but its hard to find good reviews on it. Thank you for all the work that you do!
I use an Exped Schnozzel pump bag in my kit. It's a pack liner / dry bag that doubles as a pump sack. It looks very similar to what is included with the OneTigris set up. I wonder if that's the intention? I store my quilt, pad, clothing, etc in the bag and roll it down tight. I use this as my pack liner instead of something like a trash compactor or nylofume bag. That would save a tiny bit of weight by eliminating the storage sack and the elastic straps and it would be dual purpose.
I have an xtherm and it is my favorite sleeping pad so far, when it is cold it does a great job of insulating me from the ground. If it ever gives up the ghost I will take a look at this OneTigris, I think the xtherm price is a bit high, although it is a great pad.
Nice haircut Luke.
I'd love to see this compared to the Lightour
Im a big fan of OneTigris products. Everything I've used so far has been very good.
Luke, excellent review as always. I'm curious about the often stated effects of moisture and potential mold from folks blowing into their sleeping pads, has anyone actually researched or measured the effects? Thanks
This looks very similar to a NatureHike pad I've got. Which itself seems to be identical to a LightTour pad.
Luke, I bought a Naturehike Mongar 2 (in purple!) based on your review, and I really like it. I also have a Tentsile Una tree tent, because camping on Finnish islands it's often difficult to find a flat pitch but it's never difficult to find trees. Have you had any experience with Tentsile?
Thanks for the review! Why does it require so much effort to operate the bag? Any ideas? I've got an Exped 2p sleeping pad with a "Schnozzle bag" and it's really easy to inflate it with the bag.
🎉you were going to review the Skemac during cold weather😢
Nemo Tensor Extreme with an R value of 8.5 would be a fun review.
I have seen reviews of the Nemo pad you mentioned. It really would not compare to this pad for a couple of reasons. First , an 8.5 vs 5.4 R value is a HUGE difference between them, giving an unfair advantage to the Nemo Extreme. Second, the Nemo is WAYYyy lighter than the One Tigris, albeit Nemo achieves this low weight by making the pad Small. (19ish in wide vs 24 in for the One Tigris.) But on stats alone the Nemo wins hands down. Price difference is a Huge win for One Tigris though. So it really depends on use case, budget, and what you are, or are Not willing to carry.
@@Xeno-M.Just wouldn't mind him separately reviewing the Nemo Tensor Extreme.
I'm a big fan of the Nemo Tensor line. I would trust my life that over OneTigris.
@@Xeno-M.they do make a 25 inch wide version for all their pads which is definitely the way to go. But yeah i recently got the new nemo and it wouldn’t be a fair comparison at all lol its one of the best sleeping pads on the market as fair as warmth to weight along with the xtherm but your gonna pay for it!
Luckily the replaced my old pad with this new one for free! Shoutout to nemo lifetime warranty.
Luke if you get chance watch the GearSkeptics Sleeping pad tests regarding inflating with a pump or your own breath, very interesting.
Just watched that video the other day! very good information!
Very nice.
Luke, can you fold the pad to make it into a chair?
Good work as usual!
If you can get it on sale, the REI Helix is also a really good budget winter pad (4.9 R-value). I actually got mine at 75% off a couple years ago. It often goes on sale for 50% off.
OneTigris is on fire! :)
Well It's there own fault!
Intriguing
For about the same price you can buy the Naturehike R5.8 matress, which in its largest size weighs only 630g.. I really like mine.
Looks very similar to the Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Xtreme pad
You could use that inflation bag as a pillow with those buckles possibly.
Like everything backpacking, it's a tradeoff between cost and weight. Would be interested in you comparing it to the Klymit Insulated pad... very similar price, R value, and weight to the OneTigris. This one looks much more comfortable though.
Luke you should try the flextail zero pump its great.
Follow up as soon as you can, I'm interested.
And after I just got a new Nemo Tensor trail all season, but I get a huge discount with Nemo at least because I’m part of the Pro Program it has a 5.2 R value as well and I paid I think around 100 for it, that looks solid though interested to see how it turns out in the future.
with the buckles on the pump sack it should be able to hold air pretty well, might make an okay pillow?
I have a different brand that has the clips on the inflation bag and it doubles as a dry bag so id say it's the same with this one.
How does nylon vs polyester compare with respect to sliding around? either with sleeping bag to pad or pad to ground/inside of tent? Thanks for the great content Luke.
Sold out. What brand is the ground cloth?
You should test the Naturehike R5.8 winter pad. Very warm down to 0°F as a standalone or add a closed-cell foam pad below 0°F for a total of R7.8. But you will only need that setup in Alaska, Antarctica or climbing above 6,000m. For only $85, it's the "Xtherm killer".
Light Tour production
I have an EXPED winter sleeping mat, which is comparable with the Thermarest. Pricy too, but definitely worth the money. Curious about the OneTigris performing under winter conditions.
Thanks for the info! Do you know if most/any USB pumps will work with this pad? I'm not known for my forearm strength. Think t-rex.
👍👍👍 Thanks ! 😮
Easily see myself buying this pad. Waiting for further testing.
OTigris could really print the name of the product on the packaging 🤣
