    Finally picked this tent up after seeing this review a while back. I'm doing my first camp with it at the weekend and looking very forward to the forgiving space 👌

    I have owned this tent for some time now and its my work horse tent for all my weekly stealth / woodland camps. It is a solid tent and my channel is a testament of this. Never ever let me down. Yes it has fibre glass poles but the way they are angled really does add to the strength. If you break a fibre glass pole, it costs pennies to replace. The tent pegs I would swap for stronger ones and that is its only fault. Enjoy fella 🫡

      @Ray-555 pennies in the sense costs very little to replace a pole. Amazon, eBay, or many other sites you can source fibre glass poles from. Easy to cut to size too. I even found tent poles and salvaged them for spares on a camp before.

      @Ray-555 Also pole splints will get you out of trouble until you replace broken section 👍👍🫡

    Cant go wrong with the price. I used this tent a couple times and it always kept me dry, my only issue was the pack size and weight. Hope you enjoy the tent and have some good times in it.

    • @thomaslock97
      @thomaslock97  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that’s probably my biggest issue in hindsight. It does noooot pack small and 3kg is a bit too much. Thank you!!

    its a great tent the Hyena. I used the phoxx 2 v2 for awhile..i know the phoxx 2 is lighter but this one suits me fine. I tend to hammock tent when hiking but the hyena is great for me and the wife and also for short journeys...the only down side is the poles arent aluminium but i dont tent on camping in high winds hahaha. great video sir. new subscriber here!

    I have the coyote 3 and the phoxx 2 v2. The phoxx 2 v2 is by far the best tent iv ever had. Iv had it out in some very extreme condition and it's never let me down. Its the only tent I trust up in the peaks

    • @thomaslock97
      @thomaslock97  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve got a mate with the Phoxx 2v2 and it was tempting, but I’m just not sure there’d be enough ground space for me and my dog and the porch area looks too small to keep my stuff dry. Still - it’s one I might get anyway just to have a better package, lighter weight tent. This one is too big really!

  • @TheFairway8
    @TheFairway8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’ve got an OEX Phox 2 which I absolutely love for wild camping it has plenty of room for my large dog and myself. Admittedly it’s only really got room sleeping plus all my gear, not really enough room to sit up in but as I wild camp I tend to set up late ish then take down early.
    My dog is called Archie too I didn’t know how he would react to being in a tent, he loves it as soon as it’s set up he’s desperate to get in.
    The reason I chose the Phoxx was a compromise mostly between price and weight.

    • @thomaslock97
      @thomaslock97  หลายเดือนก่อน

      My Archie is exactly the same!! If there’s a tent up, he’s in it or whining at its door. He loves it. I might have to reconsider the Phoxx 2 if you say it does indeed fit you + dog + gear.

  • @richardsunday1612
    @richardsunday1612 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This tent is very similar to the Eurohike DLX2 which I have (altho I’ve just fractured one of the front poles) I use it with the phoxx II bag as those straps do help with attaching to the rucksack 👍🏼 using the Phoxx on the next camp as it’s been a while

    • @thomaslock97
      @thomaslock97  หลายเดือนก่อน

      After heading out with my pal who has a Phoxx (my most recent video) and I’ve gotta say after seeing how small it packs away and easy it sets up I think I have to get one. Only downside seems to be lack of living space if it rains but a tarp can fix that!

    Nowt wrong with a 60 quid tent. A bit heavy for my liking but plenty of space for a dog.
    I would probably have set up the other way round (head at the door) in a tent like that but the light hook position is odd.
    Enjoy anyway.🙂

    Have had one for a week and used it every night on North uist/Berneray/Harris/Lewis. Had a bit of rain over the week but today after 16 hours of solid rain its started to slightly leak water despite being pitched the tightest I have had it, A little windy at times and not had the slightest flap noise from it

    • @joep5080
      @joep5080 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That said, my tents normally get a regular coat of fabsil, Just wanted to see this one held out before needing it. And having seen some very strong coastal (atlantic) winds over the week, the fibre poles havent gave me the slightest bit of concern yet.
      For the money, absolute bargain.

    £60 for a tent and the experiences it'll give you is a steal.
    For comparison I've just spent.....
    Wait for it.............
    £300 on a Vango F10 Nexus UL
    Just think about that for a minute...
    £300 you could buy 5 of your £60 tents for that.

    It is what it is a cheap noisy tent, I value my comfort through years of experience with various tents -buy the best you can afford , I have a Hilleberg tent pricey but light highly wind and waterproof and comfortable and no condensation on the inside like these cheap tents that last a few years before the stitching and bonding tape looses strength and they leak.

    Make sure you guy it out in the sense you're effectivent pulling the poles away from each other. That will stop any sagging and prevent inner touching outer. Takes a few pitches to perfect but it soon becomes obvious. See so many people guying it out incorrect 🫡
