    Great build!! I’m so inspired to try and do the same thing…only a few problems. I don’t have a distribution center at my beckoned call, I don’t have a lift, I don’t have $14,000 cash to spend on top of a $13,000 car.
    So I’ll just live vicariously through you.

    A good check of Rennlist and Renntech forums would give you all you need to know and check on an older Cayenne and the best fixes. I know you're trying to use all FCP parts but replacing the compressor is the last thing you want to do, first is to just replacing the compressor piston rings from Ebay user Bagpipingandy, he's in the UK and ships fast and for $30 you can have your compressor running again instead of spending over $500. I did my compressor 8yrs ago and it's still running like new.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rennlist is still a great resource we tap into often Mark! Certainly viable to refresh a compressor instead of replacing, that said since we end up replacing this one with a new one off our shelves, when we later hydrolocked that brand new compressor - it was covered and replaced under our Lifetime Replacement Gurantee :-) little extra insurance there haha

    Just purchased a 2008 Black Turbo as well with 82k on the clock....been getting boxes delivered for the past month from you guys! Just completed trans fluid service, F/R diff fluid service, transfer case service, spark plugs/ignition coil, AOS replacement, valve body replacement, driveshaft flex disc kit and a bowdon cable for the driver's door. Tackling the coolent pipes, cap/reservior and the water pump/thermostat kit. Going between 3"-5" lift kit w/air & 33"/35" tires on an 18" wheel, yada, yada, yada... Will def be following the build!

    Thanks, guys. My 957 is a 09 Cayenne S with 117K miles and of course, the driveshaft center bearing recently failed, but a fairly easy DIY using the aftermarket two-piece bearing kit. I hope to keep it for a long time. The original build quality of the interior and exterior was excellent and it's still tight and free of rust only because it lives in Florida. Great idea in the future to turn it into an off-road tow and camping rig.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M. Cooper , luckily like you said the driveshaft center bearing is an nice straight forward DIY, we had to upgrade our to the JXB Performance version (should be on our site soon)! These rigs honestly have so much potential to become anything you want it to be, keep us posted how your 957 journey goes!

    Check the PCV diaphragm and the check valve diaphragms. When mine was smoking, I replaced all of these (all torn at 130k miles) and the smoking and oil consumption went to zero. Also, the check valves prevent turbos boost from blowing back into the crankcase - contributing to oil leaks. Cjheap. Takes two seconds to change them. Do it now.

    Wow - lots of issues compared to my 09 Cayenne GTS. I just replaced the plugs and coils (had a coil fail, and knew that when one goes, the rest should also be replaced) - every coil had a crack. Might need a new battery - very hard start at -15 F after sitting a couple days. Another reason you might get the "Chassis Failure" is a broken height sensor for the air suspension (I have this issue - just need to get around to replacing them). Broken/cracked vacuum lines seem to be a common issue - I've had a few issues with lines for the emissions control. All Porsche owners should be familiar with the issues with drain plugs getting blocked, and then water accumulating.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problems certainly kept stacking up for us Johnathon. We have broken a few level sensors off-roading and 100% can cause the chassis system failure, nicest part about that one is how cheap and easy the fix is! Hope you're enjoying your GTS!

    I bought a VW Touareg for all the same reasons you bought the Porsche a couple of months before the COVID-19 lock down. I only put 500 miles on the car that year, because after spending thousands on it, it would randomly quit running. Once towed back home it would run fine! LOL!
