I totally agree with you. A totally neat craftfoom says no one uses it much. I've had as many as 5 projects on my desk all.layered on top of each other. I knew all of what was there. Looked like a mess to uncreative minds !!
My craft room is very messy also and I never have any room even if I have new storage. lol

this is, by far, the very best video ever presented in regard to junk journals. I have listened to many junk journal teachers/influencers .... more than I can count with hours and hours of time spent right here in front of my computer. Today, I have decided that I will cut that list down to just Natasha, here at Treasure Books. Her approach is common sense and being REAL. I have learned from many and am grateful for those that do post, but, I have to stop watching all of them that cross my path and spend the time being creative in my own studio. I have to agree! I have watched SO many journal-making videos over the past year and learned much from all of them, but Natasha, you are the whole package. I was “sold” a few months ago when one of your videos came via the TH-cam algorithm and-much to my amazement-you had created a “cheat sheet” summary of everything you demonstrated. So in addition to a crystal-clear, well-organized tutorial, I was able to print the cheat sheet and keep it as reference. You have thought of EVERYTHING to make learning easy for us, and your generosity with your knowledge and experience is simply beyond the pale. I just made myself a tear ruler by taking my 30 year old plastic ruler outside and rubbing it against my wooden fence! I learned so much from this video! 😊

i love your channel ever since i found it. on printables: some time back a lady in a jj group posted, that she loved all the stuff we showed there, but she said she will never be able to do jj herself because she comes from a small caribbean island and there are no craft supply shops. i told her to check your channel because you mostly craft with stuff that basically everybody already has or stuff you can easily obtain from friends, family,... she was so happy about your channel and i think she´s now into crafting jjs because she saw in your videos that you don´t need a fancy crafting store to make beautiful projects. there is a target group for your kind of crafting. not everyone can buy lots of fancy stuff or just doesn´t want to. you show them that it´s also possible with minimal to no expense and that´s why i think that your channel is one of the most important in the jj world ;)

So true I do own a printer and have download stuff……my prints Are poor quality so prefer to do what you are teaching.

Your statement, "even a grocery list." I've been thinking about junk Journaling and that statement really clicked for me. I found one of my Mother's grocery lists in a pocket of a coat and it brought back some very fond memories of the way her kitchen smelled, and so many other good feelings. After 27 years, I think her often and reflect stories, like the grocery list with my daughter. Thank you for making this video! Memories documented that may seem mundane are valuable and timeless.

Thank you for showing your less than perfect craft room 💕 I work in half of our bedroom and my boyfriend is a minimalist kind of guy. He wishes he couldn't see it... but he knows it's important to me. He will stop at yard sales and bring me home storage items like shelves, baskets and recently a nice utility cart. 😍 I have large utility shelves that basically go to the ceiling, and the fabric one has storage bins. The papercraft one has draw containers, baskets and the occasional box. Then I have 3 (now) rolling carts. I still have more on top of my 2 dressers. But my table is a small kitchen table that has metal frame and a surface that is like a plastic composite that doesn't damage its so sturdy and he actually picked it out for me.
All this is to say, when I see all those pretty ikea designed craft rooms where the only thing out is pretty craft props it really makes one feel bad... I love that you showed yours. It's real, it's a working craft space and I love it ♥️

This was absolutely fabulous! Even my husband stayed interested as we watched. Great tips here and I love how real and down to earth you are. You are very relatable and make even a beginner feel like they can get started without feeling overwhelmed.
This is a great video with well-explained answers to questions. (You even answered ones that I considered to be no one's business!) I did want to know about putting two single pages together without washi tape as I find that it's hard to sew through when I add the signature to the journal.
One easy way the make the makeup sponges a little easier to use for inking is to put the skinny end into a clothes pin far enough that the wide end is sticking out by about a centimeter. This rounds the wide end and the clothes pin is a great handle to give some control over how much ink is deposited onto the project.

This video was packed with so much useful information that I was sorry to see it end. I learned a lot, such as the differences in glue and the problems with most glue sticks and tape runners. It was interesting to see how to find the “sold” price on Etsy, even if I don’t think I will need that tip. I loved seeing your creative space because now I am more comfortable about the way my own space looks - controlled chaos, but I know where everything is.

It's so easy to get caught up in thinking that I need every gadget. I've purchased soooo many things that have been totally worthless!

It never occurred to me to glue a single sheet of paper on top of another, then fold before binding in a book. I’ve always used washi or lattice hinged the two sheets together. This was a great video.
This video contains a lot of good info! One thing I did not know was the fact that you could (if available) see what a price for an already sold item was. I had no idea 😀

Natasha this video was most informative. Thank you! For me it was a refresher since I'm still a newbie making journals. The sewing subject helped. I still don't have a machine but want one. The best thing I learned with this video is to relax. It's only paper. I have 13 grandchildren, so I try to make a journal or notebook or folio for each birthday. That keeps me busy every month. And it's TRUE, trying to think through a project takes the most time...the creative part. You videos are fun to watch and I appreciate your time and effort to help all of us! BLESSINGS from America.

Years ago I learned how to make junk journals and Never used a sewing machine. At the time I wanted one, It can be done. Now I’m feeling like making them again. I give all my supplies to my friends daughter but I know how and how to Collect again without spending to much money ❤️ thank you for your help.

Oh my gosh... loved seeing your craft room. When we only see a small work area I envision an elaborate organized space. I have a place for everything but cannot seem to create without my room looking like a hurricane, tornado and earthquake happened when I am done. Funny thing is, in my past corporate job, I used to teach organizational skills and was known for my skill. I know how, but can't seem to apply tidiness when I create. I whip up a hurricane when In creative mode, too! It seems like when I have to stop and put things away and organize as I'm going, It disrupts the process and I get out of the 'flow' of what I'm trying to create. It's rather a manic process for me. 😄 I do reorganize and put things away when I'm finished. The only problem is that my 'craft room' is a spot I've set aside in the living room of my tiny apartment so I try and keep it tidy But sometimes it looks like a tornado blew through my living room. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that does this 😄

That wax stick you used in waxing the thread can be used to rub onto mod podge pages after they are completely dry to keep them from sticking together. If you still have some of those older projects with the mod podge pages you can give it a try, see how that works.

I don't use Mod Podge for that reason!
Yes I have done that actually to stop the pages sticking (I even spoke about it in the video but then edited it out) I also used talcum powder and that seems to work as well.
Great live! IF anyone is still wondering…sewing machines often work best if you put the lighter weight or speciality thread in the bobbin. There isn’t a problem with using a lightweight bobbin thread and it is often done with machine embroidery. Cleaning the ‘crud’ out of the bobbin area is the most important thing you can do for your machine. Nearly all machines come with a little brush for cleaning that area out. Also, if you have the owner’s manual, it will tell you where you should oil your machine. I have been sewing for over 50 years and put nearly everything through my machine. Great, honest answers. Covering your machine while not being used is also a good idea.
Lots of useful information. Not everyone can have a perfectly neat craft room. As long as you know where everything is, that's all that you need. Thank you so much.

I've said it before and I'll say it a thousand times. I love that you are so real. I know very organized people are real, but keeping everything super organized just wastes my fun time. I am SO on the same page with you in your philosophys of journal making! Writing space, embellishing, etc. Also, thank you for sharing the different "types" of journals. I was trying to fit my "style" into one category. But, I love so many different aspects of different journals; but, feel strongly about being able to write in a "journal." Having a "glue book," or "art journal," or other makes so much sense. Having a "pretty" journal that inspires me to write "thoughts, "experiences," or "work through something" fits my way of thinking. Thank YOU Natasha! YOU are a treasure!!!

This is one of the best videos I've watched lately. You're such a natural & wonderful teacher. Your charisma & extensive knowledge (even though your very modest about it, too much, in my opinion 😎💖) your instructions are super clear & coherent, and the fact that you present them visually in such a well organized manner just contributes to the learning process. Not to mention that you demonstrate everything, explane in the most simplest & transparent way you can (to a certain degree, of course... 😊) It truly feels that you love what you do & you believe in it. You sincerely want to help us sell our products, create journals whatever, and not promoting some new products 🤑... You don't keep any professional "secrets" to yourself (at least, not the basic ones... 😁 P.S.- It's always good to keep some secrets up your sleeve, right? Lol...

Great video! Love the fact that you make many of your own tools and use what you have on hand! I especially loved the tearing ruler idea. I actually stopped the video, grabbed an old plastic ruler I had on hand from many years ago which I don't even use anymore. Scrounged around and found a couple of metal tools with texture on the handles and made my ruler! It works great! I love it! Thanks for all the tips!

The way you distressed the page with the ink blending tool is something I haven’t done. I usually only go over the very edges.

I love the fact that you started by creating ideas to use created tools.it shows that you don't have to buy top of the line expensive stuff. I dont have a lot of money but love doing these journals. I wanted everything you had. I have "made do" many times and am so glad to see you also did. Also my craft area is overflowing as well. I keep working at getting it all organized. I know where to look but others would not. ☺️

Thank you for sharing all this information. I know I will return to this video more times to reinforce what I want to do. I was glad to see again the overlapping of pages as a way to include them in a journal.
I didn’t know anyone would be so very honest about making beautiful journals for less and using what you have ( or can afford). Every answer I learned about what it takes to make a journal. Also learned ( by watching the video) that it’s ok to have a craft room that is useful- not all put-away. Salute to you! And thanks!

You are so creative! It was great advice for those starting! Like you said it’s really all preference! I used a glue stick for about a year but then tried a tacky glue and I like that much better! I learned I needed to dust my machine so as soon as I got to that part I paused your video and TH-camd how to take apart my sewing machine to clean it 😂 I’m like you in the sense that I also got a decent,y priced sewing machine and the first time I ever stitched was on paper just learning as I go. Thank you for your video! I also learned how to bind single pages together 🙂

I learned a lot more about thread and glues than I ever knew before, I also learned a lot of book binding terminology and I had no idea that the sewing machine needle needs to be changed so often.
