    The whole series I am making in my mind is basically fillers, not in a bad way, but there is a genre called slice of life. I make the characters do the mundane things in life and show the world without explaining it in the first chapter. Example: A girl gets out of the house and see villagers chatting, walking, and kids playing traditional games in the distance. The way I make the characters interact is to show off their feet. Why feet? Feet to emphasize a characters personality and their overall mood, such as bouncy characters have bouncy feets while the quiet ones usually keep it grounded. It is such little moments that people will pick what personality is this character, and not just force fed it down people's throats. But seeing how this strategy is pretty complex, sometimes there will be a guide, but don't make it too obvious.

    This is very helpful. Thanks for mentioning useful or interesting filler. Most people tend to forget that not every single scene needs to move bigger plot points foward. Sometimes "filler" moments can be used to humanize a character and make them easier to connect to, you know?
    Also, this might be the weirdest and most random request you'll get on a while, but could you do a ginger rated about The breakout? It's a gacha series about a zombie apocalypse made by the channel bloomskyz. I can see a lot of stuff you could criticize about it and i think it would be interesting and useful.

    Mini movies should be about an event and how it transformed them, longer stuff should be about a journey and how it transformed them. I like thinking about it that way.

    THANK YOU! mini movies now are just the characters meeting, one gets beat up and the other defends them, and then they get together. no plot at all. pls let gcmm makers see this and realize that more effort is better content

    A series that has what I think is well placed filler is the danganronpa series and their free time events. You get to see a bit about the characters' personalities, philosophies and general wants and fears and it's a nice break from all the murder and stuff. I find that filler can be a good way to flesh out your characters and make them seem more human and, if done correctly, makes a story more interesting and enjoyable than if it was all plot based. Sometimes everyone needs a break from all the drama and action going on with the actual plot and small bits of filler are great for accomplishing that. Filler itself isn't a crime in my eyes, too much of it is.

    I agree with your point about doing research. It seems as if people who make mini movies either prioritize the romance and cheap fanservice or the outlines of the plots are really basic. I do however think there are some aspects that you can exaggerate if you wanted to make a satire. Why is nobody in the community making a satire! lol. Edit: I just wanted to note the Snowdrop behind the scenes video

    I have some video suggestions that I think would be really helpful. I don't know if you have done some of them, but I've listed them:
    -> How to write a good series (specific things about series, how to divide episodes, etc.)
    -> How to write fantasy (fantasy worlds, powers, races, governments, etc.)
    -> How to give important information to viewers without making characters just say it or showing it in writing (Like how to do the show-don't-tell stuff)

    im going to try and make a series inspired by you (if ya don’t mind😍) and I hope I don’t mess it up and hopefully I can try and make it as helpful as yours :D
    but the tips you give for writing is so good, and if people who made gacha movies applied like even HALF of an single tip that you said, the gacha writing in the community wouldn’t be so deep in this dumpster fire. In gacha stories there is like 3 main scenes and everything else is just filler or unnecessary scenes that are in every. single. movie. ever. which is really what makes it a mini movie AND the Whole movie is in the title like god 💀. There is no common sense and there are no answers to the question, the stereotypes are just who asked, and the editing can’t even redeem the plot and everyone in the comment is “omg it’s SUCH A MASTERPIECE AND UR SO GOOD AT EDITINGGGGGG 🤍🤍🤍🤍😻” (ofc everyone’s editing skills are in different places but the exaggeration is a bit much) when really hun who u lying to. The alpha feels connected to the softie, but WHY? Because he felt something? Okay… but there should be something else like their personality or something idrk ff 😦 there should be something MORE and the characters are SO shallow (well usually everything is) and they are so hard to connect to, and the main character shouldn’t always be lagging so badly someone has to put them in rice to make them stop stuttering so much. All I want is a mini movie hat has some depth, that so much to ask for?
    okay I ranted a lot there and it might not make sense and it’s been like a month later ur prob not even gonna see this comment lmfao it’s fine gotta get my rant out somewhere. I apologize if I offended someone somehow or I said something inaccurate lol.

    Minimovies should be 15-25 minutes so it's not overwhelming like a 1hr one but still bingeable like 10 minutes. The reason why some people watch compilations is bc there so much different content to watch. Also, there's a reason why we watch gacha videos 2x speed. (This might be just me unless if its SUPER GOOD or voiced acted)

    I wanted to add on that when making episodes for a series you should at least accomplish one thing every episode! The first episode can SOMETIMES be an exception but generally if nothing gets done then it’s just a waste of time for the audience like unneeded scenes in glmm

    Hii! Lovely series your making, it’s helping me a lot! I have a question though, how do you usually come up with good & unique ideas for a mini movie? I usually try to remember my dream or maybe zone out enough to daydream, but it hasn’t been working much. Do you have any suggestions or ways you think could help me?❤

    • @gingerbreadd_
      @gingerbreadd_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you 💗💗
      actually, creating a good idea or concept for a story isn't as complicated as you would think. any premise you can come up with will have potential, and as long as you avoid what you already know to be too overused and generic, you mostly just need commitment and creativity to your idea.
      i would recommend finding a premise that piques your interest, like something you enjoy reading or viewing yourself so you'd have a lot of material and inspiration to go off of right away, may that be webnovels or shows you watch, in genres like romance, comedy, action, or adventure. taking inspiration and concepts from these things isn't plagiarism, you can recreate and idea but the selling point should be of your own writing and execution, that's what makes it different.
      one or two ideas on their own aren't enough though, you'd still need to consider how you'll be composing the story and executing it. so what i can suggest is finding this topic or concept you're passionate or fascinated by, create a premise (something like youd see in the back of book covers or descriptions of shows) and then buildoff from there.
      if you want something unique, then go with a concept you're familiar with but add circumstances around the setting or characters that is unique to your story. something like "___, but [insert unique circumstance]" then brainstorm from there.
      you can also start off with a character concept that interests you. go through the whole process of figuring out who they are and what is important to them, then put them in a situation that will make the audience interested to see what choices they'll make and see which direction theyll choose to go in. forcing change from a character and presenting us with their reaction to the change is one of the most common methods of adding compelling conflict to an episode.
      if this mini movie is something you don't plan on developing so much outside of just one video or so, then don't worry too much about worldbuilding or anything and just focus on building scenes that hook the audience in.
      and most importantly, just have fun~ make it because it's fun to write, fun to do so, and don't stress out if you can't get it right the first time.
      good luck 💞💞

    Hi- umm can I ask something -
    I want to start my own series but my first season ( if I get to that point ofc ) wouldn't have much of a plot but more character ( basically establishing who they are and to make their friendship develop bcz at the beginning most of them aren't that close ) is that ok or does it need to be plot heave from EP 1?

    • @gingerbreadd_
      @gingerbreadd_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it doesn't need to be heavy heavy but it'd be nice to have something going on that engages viewers, you can make the friendship development the plot, like maybe one episode person A tries to get close to B but really awkwardly, maybe in another person A has B do something important for them, things like that~
      you don't need plot or crazy stuff happening around them, all you need is good characters that have depth and goals, and just have them interact like thattt

    I’ve usually add filler when I write the script.
    I agree every filler should be for a reason even if it’s not necessary to the audience. And at the point it’s hard to not add these small plots.
    Unnecessary filler can be added though! An easy example is to start with the first filler action then move to another scene to introduce a new character instead of boring the viewers.
    For example! The cliche mom yelling at kid, except switch to the moms perspective. Adding other filler such as cooking, cleaning, or putting on shoes to the parent will be the same time-taking and setting up plot; but it grabs the readers attention more than a hurrying kid.

    • @gingerbreadd_
      @gingerbreadd_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's def an option, but personally it's best to avoid adding filler if there is room for development
      you can subvert the tropes and how filler is usually done, as well as do whatever you think is best with it, just make sure it has a nameable purpose, may that be for comedy, character building, political statements, so on. Because a scene with nothing in it is a questionable decision
      it all depends on the writer though, do what you think is best for your own story ❣️
