The city of Tijuana saw over 2,500 homicides in 2018, marking it as one of the most violent years in the city's history. Growing up in Southern Calif., driving to Tijuana (everybody called it TJ), on a Saturday just for fun, was the thing to do now and then. When I was in college, some friends from college would drive down to TJ on a Friday night for fun, you could enter a TJ bar at 18. We'd park on the US side of the border and walk across the bridge to TJ. Later in life I was a consultant to the furniture industry and would arrange for items to be purchased from a TJ furniture manufacturer I met a furniture trade show in the US. I would make bi-monthly trips to TJ to meet with them. This was in the late 70's. I didn't know it's gotten this bad in TJ, watching this video is an eye-opener. Needless to say, there's no way I'd venture across the southern border, ever again.
I'm 63, living in Los Angeles all of my life and born here. I knew from my teenage years in the 70s to STAY OUT OF TJ period. I've only been there twice with some Christian friends to go visit an Orphanage to give them clothes and visit. I ate a lot of tacos then left before sundown. That was around 2011-2013. But I never went back There's no need to go there, Olvera st or many other places here in Los Angeles or East L.A. I can get what they sell in TJ.

I agree with the first part of what you wrote. Now, let me share my thoughts on the concept of God. Why are there so many gods? If God is so powerful, why can’t everyone in the world believe in a single deity? And why does God allow innocent people to suffer? I was born into a Christian family and went to church almost every Sunday as a child because that was the environment I grew up in and how I was taught. If I had been born in another part of the world, like India or Iran, I would likely believe in Buddha, Allah, or another god, depending on where I was born. The reason you believe in God is because it helps you find inner peace and answers to your questions. It’s like meditation. That’s completely fine, as many people need that. However, a long time ago, smart individuals realized this and used it to their advantage. They started inventing gods and religions to control the masses, expand territories, and accumulate wealth. In my view, gods and religion are the biggest scams humanity has ever created.

I have suffered from the effects here in 🇺🇸, I spent 7.5 years of my twenties in prison for multiple cocaine distribution charges, guns, etc all over making $3,500 a week by selling $9,000 a week. I’ve seen both men and women die, some by intentional violence some by drug use. I’ve seen and had families destroyed from it all. When will the hard hard drugs disappear ? How much death and suffering before all people say “no more”? I have an enormous amount of empathy, good will, and compassion for the unbelievable amount of loss and suffering endured by the people of both 🇺🇸 and 🇲🇽. I am truly sorry for once being such a part of it.

Downtown is another story where I never go!!
You’re lucky I live in Tijuana and personally have seen 3 people get shot. In the last 2 years, once right in front of the Starbucks at the entrance of playas. I’ve also been carjacked. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Be safe, my friend.
So sad, pray for Mexico, a country poor in economy but rich in culture 🙏🏻
Half the video blurred out . Wouldn't watch if you reading the comments
thanks you just saved me a bunch of time
@@yesfinallygot1its not for me
So if someone you know was in a video dead , literally full of holes or butchered you wouldn't want them blurred out?
Y'all are no brain a$$holes
@@friscog545 Wouldn't consent to them being showed.
Saludos desde Tijuana ♥️ BC 🇲🇽 mexico
All I know is the beef tacos next to the Hong Kong establishment are delicious.
I guess that's all 26 people and counting know.
How "delicious" are the sexy ladies who work in the Hong Kong establishment?

Nice collection tho....!
How old is this documentary and why is it just now being released?
2018 I believe. I knew it was old when they never mentioned fentanyl. That’s the primary product they traffic now
Doesn't matter the drugs. It's the same back then and the same now. All that will never change...
@@motoxridahNot quite that old. Theres more recent footage. 8:05 for example.
If you look at the end they dated the drugs burning Sep 26 2019 he included fentanyl
Awesome post
Love me some Tijuana. Been there a thousand times
EVERYONE STOP FIGHTING PLEASE
Very annoying they keep blurring out certain scenes. Censorship is never a good thing.
Sounds like you're not taking accountability for you own actions and decisions.
Lived in Zona Norte for 4 years ( white blue eyes ). It was NUTS !!!! 664❤
Wow À GREAT VIDÉO !!!!
Tijuana was the place to go in the 60s and 70s, we'd go to make purchases to resale at swapmeets in Los Angeles. There's no way I'd go over there nowadays, too much drug trafficking and murders occurring over there 😢😢😢
I have just watched this documentary and really appreciate the content, raw upfront, but really disappointed that you obscured the fatalities, unfortunately that really took the whole purpose of this documentary, I fully understand that TH-cam have their laws but in future making these documentary s You got see no holes barred to experience the full reality of it, thank you again

In a good plan journalists that gets in to Mexico should learn spanish for the interviews they do, I could say too.

If there are not subtitles, well they need to learn the language.
I live here in Tijuana, 6 years now....Its still going on, bodies are being placed in cars and parked around the city.
I took a bus tour there in the early 2000's. It was getting almost dark and the last bus of the day heading back to San Diego were looking for us. He said we were worry tourists don't want to be there at night some don't make it back
I grew up in L..A. and I love Tijuana the people are great and has great food
No need to sensationalize our every day struggles. It's pretty simple really. Mind your own business and you'll be fine. If you work, live, and let live there should be no issues for you here in TJ. The reporter Margarito was unfortunately assassinated a couple years back in la Sanchez. This is why I say if you stay in your lane you should be fine. Whenever you meander into that territory then you already know what you are getting yourself into. The best bet is just to avoid trouble all together. RIP to that man.
Whats the use of a video if you have most of it blurred out?
Home of the ceasar salad caught me off guard 😂
Growling up in San Diego we used to go to TJ often and it was nothing like it is now.
The 24 hour Walmart there is second to none
it literally has less theft than a walmart in a um "inner city" and that FAcTs
What does second to none mean??
no way 24hrs
how can i watch this video no censorship pls
I live in the East side of Tijuana the worst side of town as long as you keep to yourself you should be good and also don't make a lot of friends here
Why don't make alot of friends? I be in Zcentro
Stop doing drugs and just be happy.
Think any time you do where it really comes from and who you hurting and or potentially helping
No one seems to have any respect for life, we are only on this earth for a short while. We were longer dead than alive😮😢

This is a very blurry video
If your gonna show a documentary, why blurr out half of it...if a viewer can't handle this gore then just don't watch it. TH-cam stuff I'm sure...

Just got back from TJ. It was a great time. I think it’s all about where you go and who you hang around. Ya places can be dangerous but I think it’s mostly about who and where you go around. My trip wasn’t bad at all. Just be careful no matter where you are.
Cowards. Full of cowards and psychopaths
Balls to this People for speaking on cartels.
I have only been to TJ 3 times, 2000 as curious tourist, 2018, 2019 for dentist X-ray, 3D scan ....each visit were less than 2 hours. I cross back to the bridge ASAP

I liked TJ whenever I've visited mi amigos and amigas there.

Margarito, the photographer interviewed here was killed by Cartel in 2022 he was at his home when he was shot. Also sad to see how out of touch is the police, saying that the city is not violent.
I miss Tijuana used to go there every weekend up until 2002 with the family I loved it the food the people the culture the party life no place on earth compares those days are gone sad to say I wish things can change for the better I want to visit but will not under any circumstance just sad...
It's amazing what the El Salvador government has accomplished! There is team work between the government, police and military. The Mexican government, police and military are too corrupt to solve the problem.
Mexican cartels are in El Salvador and they dont say nothing to the cartels either
Lol mexican cartels rule Ecuador Gangs. The Ecuador gov is a joke jist like the mexican one.

Simple solution. Stop the FAILED war on drugs
It would so much better if we were not providing them with military level weapon , technology, And strategy. Plus facilitating them free entrance to The US. But ofcourse we know the rel big bosses are all here. 🤫🤔
"They don't even rest on Xmas anymore..." 😂. That was cute,...like "they only come out at night, mostly" from Aliens movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Very surprising that the journalist and cops show their faces.
