    Just installed one of those Timney's with the flat-face shoe on my 457, and it's top shelf! The break is so clean and crisp. Got it set to 8oz.

    kinda surprised you didn't choose something other than another cz. pretty sure by the time you do all of your add ons it'll be equivalent to your other cz, I'd be somewhat shocked if it isn't. Not sure why you bailed on the voodoo, seemed a lil quick. what I'd really liked to have seen is you do like an Anschutz MPR 64. I'll still watch...send it Josh

      He did a poll and the cz was what people wanted to see. I think people like the idea of getting in at a relatively reasonable price and building up over time, instead of dropping 2k on a rimfire up front

    I know you're not going to keep the original stock. So, it would be wasted effort. But as an experiment, it would be interesting so see what difference pillar bedding the original stock would make. As others commented, I was thinking it might be the screw torque. I really look forward to your videos.

    You can see that the recoil direction was different in the scope. Eliminate that and the groups will be considerably better. Hold consistency is going to be what makes the difference when shooting a good gun with ammo it likes.

    • @Jeff-mv4yy
      @Jeff-mv4yy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Josh, put your bipod on there and shoot it. You are your best off a Bipod imo.
      Also, do you think the stock or short barrel is causing the instability on the action shooting? We know that barrel can shoot. I hope that's the last thing you change.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. The short stock and light weight rifle make shooting off of that bag a chore. Wind was also pretty poor for shooting.

    • @Strutingeagle
      @Strutingeagle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PursuitofAccuracy A couple of things that may work for you is putting some weight at the end of the barrel such as a tuner. Another would be where you place the rifle on the bag. If the bag is right on center of gravity the muzzle will move around easier on the shot. Shooter related stuff would be the trigger finger and hand consistency and no side loading with the hold. The camera setup you have would be useful in comparing different techniques too. Might make a cool video once you give this stuff a whirl and iron it out for yourself.

    Could it be action screw torque changed when you pulled the action out?
    On my 455 Tacticool (similar to the 457 PV), pillar bedding the action, tuning torque, and insuring barrel float made a big difference. I know you’re planning to change the stock out, but that may be the reason for the bigger groups. Maybe?

You actually played a huge part in my current selection for nrl22 which is the CZ 457 Varmint MTR with an Arken SH4 scope. This combo just squeaks under the $1200 limit that my club has for scope and rifle in base class. Now I also have an Arken EP5 and a Vortex Strike Eagle but the take me out of base class. While the eye box is tighter on the SH4 and the glass is not as good as the Vortex or especially the EP5, which has the best glass of the three. Would you recommend buying the Tract Toric for the added features even though I would then have to compete in open class?

    Before you replace the stock with a chassis it would be interesting to see if you could increase the accuracy if you installed aluminum pillars in that Tacticool stock and did a little bedding around the action screws. If you see an improvement after that, how does that compare to a chassis when you get to that point? Would you see a significant difference to justify the price of a chassis?

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly i have looked at all of it before.
      If your starting with a good stock with no flaws you rarely gain accuracy.
      Going to pillars or a chassis does usually get you some more consistency across poa / poi when weather is changing drastically.
      The chassis is more for being modular and allowing the end user to set up the rifle to them and their purpose vs gaining accuracy. Which to me is as or more important than accuracy

    Lots of movement in the rifle during the firing sequence and during recoil on the bags. The scope cam shows the movement after firing. I don't see this as exaggerated when you shoot using a bipod and rear bag with your heavier rig. I have a stock shorty Savage that behaves like this. Hard to shoot super precisely.
