My Cz 457 had a very good stock trigger at 1lb 2oz, after the yodave trigger spring it breaks at 8oz. I really like the trigger profile of the Timney maybe someday I will order one
I have a CZ-457 Varmit MTR. Wonderfully accurate with the right ammo. With the stock trigger, 2 lbs 14 oz was the best I could achieve. With an Amazon compression spring assortment kit for about $10, I was able to find one that fit. Mine now consistently breaks at 14 ounces. All I replaced was the trigger spring. Nothing else. Considering all the springs that I received from Amazon in that kit, my CZ-457 received an upgrade for about 20 cents. You think Yodave wants you to know about this?
I have a few buddies that have done the same in terms of finding the optimal spring rate. You can absolutely get these for pennies on the dollar compared to the yodave etc…
I saw a video "cz trigger for $1" or something. Took the spring out of a click type pen, cut it down to 1/8 longer than stock spring. Doode was right, mine's consistent 8 ounces, just like the guy said. Took to the range today, maybe 250 rounds, and, just Wow! Keeping the factory spring in the case. That video saved me $175! But I'm sure the Timney is sweet, too!
That’s really resourceful and glad to hear it’s working well! I’m curious to see how it holds up over time. I was surprised to see how much engineering actually goes into springs and would be curious how the rates etc match up
I had the chance to shoot a timney trigger vs. The stock cz trigger and although the cz trigger set to 2lbs with very well adjusted creep and overtravel is nice I cab appreciate the timney triggers refinement. It's certainly a worthwhile upgrade
I put a Timney in my 457 because I typically shoot custom tricked out centerfires. It’s set at 1 lb and at this point couldn’t imagine shooting without it. I’ll say that the factory trigger was great, BUT i had to consciously concentrate on pulling straight back to the rear .
Thanks for the video. Interesting and informative. I tried to adjust the factory trigger and didn’t have a good result. Considering the Timney trigger. Blessings
Gunsmithing for over 40 years taught me some interesting things, two CZ 457's does not mean same trigger adjustability, my own LRP came at 3 pounds from the factory, my MTR came in at 2.5 it is impossible to adjust the LRP below 2 pounds yet the MTR goes as low as 1.8 pounds. The Yodave I could not get below 1.4 pound on either, the Timmney is a great trigger in some configurations but does have a slight creep or pre-travel, all 3 can be a pain in the rear to get them to what I call a good trigger, I am very fussy though. The best I think on the market is still the Timmney but could be improved on significantly, just my experience after custom building over 80 rimfire precision rifles all on CZ 452, 453, 455 and recently the 457. Most standard 457 factory triggers will not adjust below 2 pounds.
Great points and experience level here. Couldn’t agree more. No rifle seems to be the exact same. I touched base on timing and sear engagement about 4:50. Have had friends rifles show different results and pull weights with the spring kit. I’d agree the Timney is still probably the better trigger on the market but have heard TriggerTech has one in the works. Can’t wait to give it a try. Thanks for watching!
Just swapped form the Yodave to the Timney this week and I absolutely love it its great! I can't tell much difference between the Timney and a mouse click the way I have it set.
Thanks so much, Joe. Means a lot as I really enjoy the videos you do and keep up with every one on my personal channel. Picked up two Tract Toric 4.5-30’s from your review.
I’m running a NV bridge for a PVS-30 in the front of the stock. If the optic was lower, it wouldn’t be in the correct position behind my clip on. It’s also very easy to account for slightly higher rings and the offset
I have a cz 457 and my SAK sound moderator is very unconvincing in your video, yours seems to attenuate the sound a lot can you tell me what the model is? thank you
Of course. I mainly use the Dead Air Mask and the Rugged Oculus for my 22 cans. This was specifically the mask but I am also using standard velocity ammunition which is below the sound barrier and much quieter than supersonic ammunition with a suppressor
It’s a badger EFR (embedded front rail) for night vision. You have to mill out a pocket in your stock and bed it in with marine Tex or devcon. It has a channel for your barrel to go through. I can do a vid on it if you’d like
I have installed the Yodave on both my 457s( a Trainer and a Varmint MTR) and they both break around 8 ounces and I have no reason to complain. I would like the flatter face to the trigger itself, think you are really right on there. Was wondering what your cheekrest is and where you got it?
One of my shooting buddies has his breaking about 8oz as well. For some reason mine would get striker or firing pin follow when the bolt was closed if I went too light. Appreciate the comment and support! The cheek riser is by Triad Tactical. It was on their webpage
I was thinking on doing a video of it specifically. There’s also a rifle overview on the channel where I touch on it briefly if interested. I’ve tried a handful of different types of match Ammo but limited lot #’s. When it gets ammo it likes, it clover leafs @ 50yds. Generally speaking, it’s accurate but not bench rest accurate. I bought it to have a “do all” 22lr with a chamber that would accept all Bullet profiles that was also light. My factory CZ barrel was not shooting great so I swapped it. Next 22 I put together will be a match 22 with a match chamber and shimable barrel for rim thickness
I love the timney trigger but you can't get a call to them I don't know how to run a computer I can't even set an alarm clock these people are arragant and won't answer their phone I have tried to call them twenty or thirty times no luck I don't think they like my business if you want a trigger from them good luck. Beagleman
😂Classic YT comment. He called it! AAANNNDDD…nobody cares. Thanks for the review, HK. That is a sweet setup. What’s nice about Timney is that I have several of them on both centerfires and rimfires. And I can dial them so they feel the same. And that feel is something I can try to describe but I can’t quite capture in words. Having a “light” pull is one thing, but the way it breaks gives you a noticeably solid, confident, crisp feel-BY COMPARISON to the very good CZ trigger. And all the subjective elements are positive on the range and in the field. My CZ 457 ProVarmint shoots like butter and performs like a monster with a Timney. And I call NICE VIDEO on this!!! 😂 🇺🇸
Haha it happens 😂 and thanks for the kind words! I agree the consistency across the board (especially with training rifles) is so nice. I feel the same with the break. It’s like the difference between qualitative and quantitative. We can quantify a light trigger pull but if the quality of the trigger pull isn’t there also, it doesn’t work well. That CZ Pro Varmint is a sweet little rifle! Have been looking at one for a backup but haven’t found one in stock. Thanks for watching! 🇺🇸🦅

Without a doubt! I feel like I’m so used to the Timney now, it would be hard to revert back as well for similar reasons

Much appreciated. Hope you got your trigger where you want it. Thanks!
Stock trigger is fantastic! 457 precision chassis great on crows and red squirrels
Agreed! One of the better factory triggers for sure

Great video man , new subscriber

Just ordered it today. I shoot set triggers on some of my rifles and hope this will be close.
It would make more difference on that rifle to put the scope about 5/8 inch closer to the barrel.

Belay my last,
Just found your previous video on the 457 where you called out the cheek piece. I have the walnut stock on my Varmint MTR.
Just seeing as well. Glad you found it. Thank you!
I've gotten cz triggers to feel as if they were a jewel trigger..and safe...not difficult nor expensive 😉
Come do mine 😭
You can get 10 of the same spring Yodave uses for the same price - McMaster-Carr. Mine is at 6 oz with the McMaster spring.
Great callout here. Definite cost advantage
What’s the McMaster part number
I have a cz 457 and my SAK sound moderator is very unconvincing

What is the name of that rail you have on the front of your stock. Look pretty cool. Also how does it mount on it. Is it on your stock or barrel.

Great video. What is that top pic railed called? Would like to get one like it, please.
Thanks! This is a Badger EFR

@@hkrifleworks Got my flat Timney trigger installed and "OH Yea!" it's better.
What kind of Nightforce Scope do you have on that CZ?
I’m running the NX8 2.5-20 on this rifle
Cool I have a Timney on order.
How accurate is that proof barrel? Why did you choose that over the Lilja ?

@@hkrifleworks the Lilja barrel is looking great in my eyes. Lots of videos showing how accurate it is, hell it matches my vudoo sometimes!
Hey what rear bag is that? squishy Armageddon?
I think this one is a cole-tac
Gotta love “cz”

@@hkrifleworks cool thanks, looking forward to some accuracy results videos from you on paper with this barrel!!😉👉
Regret selling mine I’m buy it again but this time I’m slapping this trigger on it
Aren’t they great? I really want to try the pro varmint at some point also

Have you tried reaching out to a stocking retailer?
Placing a comment here is alot harder than emailing them or ordering online so i call BS!
lapel mic
Will check it out
I call BULLSHIT on the feel of the trigger
Would you care to elaborate further, Patrick?
