My first video on this channel. Cool to see Sta- I mean Joe talking about a franchise he'd normally wouldn't on his main channel. Also Ooblets on the next podcast and it has a guest? I have a guess on who's it gonna be and I think their name would start with a K... Just guessing
A recommendation for a podcast episode is a game call Test drive: eve of destruction. It’s a demolition derby game from 2004 for the original Xbox. I play it on my Xbox 360, and it’s still a great game even though it’s almost 18 years old
I don’t know if you guys are into 3rd person shooters but if you are I recommend checking out returnal. it’s a 3rd person shooter Rouge like. it has very slight horror elements, the atmosphere and environments are very well done. If you are going to try it out just warning you returnal is very difficult. Anyway love this podcast, can’t wait for new episodes.
This was a good game pick. The original Doom is one of those Duke Nukem 3D games. It has the quintessential 90's shooter game aura type thing going for it.
Can’t wait to listen to this one! Still waiting to finish playing Disco Elysium so I can listen to that one :) might have to play the original DOOM now too before I watch this properly :)
Here's the full reason for not being able to look up and everything attached to that. There are 2 main parts of what you end up seeing on the screen. The backend, which tracks the location of the player, enemies, items, and just about everything, and the renderer, which actually renders what is happening on the backend. The backend is tracking the entire game as a flat 2d map, and only tracks the location of everything on this 2d plane. It has no idea about the height of anything. The renderer knows the height of every floor and ceiling and just places any object (players, enemies or other) on top of the floor in the 2d location of it. when you shoot your gun the backend only checks to see if the 2d direction lines up and if it does, tells the renderer that your shot has landed. If you have any questions about specifics leave a reply to this comment and I will get back to you in 3-5 business days.
If you're looking for unique stand alone games I would recommend Puppeteer for the Ps3. I would argue to be one of my favourite platformers of all time. Filled with really great set pieces and some real care and passion. Real fun nostalgia trip with a lot of dumb fun. Thanks for all the laughs 👍
Only ever seen videos of it but it looks like a really good suggestion! , all the care with the stylised hand drawn aesthetic in a 2D platformer comes very few and far between. +1 Gamer Cred
Aside from the style as well I would just say as a last note , don't be put off by the over the top theatrics as it plays into it heavily as part of its character of childhood pantomime nostalgia. Thanks for the suggestion, will definitely check it out. 👍
I'm not sure the games this channel is aiming to review, but I'd say Undertale could be a fun game to talk about. I'm sure you've both heard of it before, and it's not too old, but I think with how well done the narrative is in the game and its way of turning the concept of RPGs on its head like pokemon and such with the fighting or sparing mechanic, it'd be a good game to chat about. And a new game by the same creator called Deltarune, recently came out with 2 chapters so far, so you could talk a bit about that game as well. I'm really enjoying the podcast, good job! :)
Absolutely love these podcasts it's always fun to listen or watch and I can't wait for the next one I've got an idea who's the special guest as I can only think of one, who absolutely loves ooblets.

Great chat 👍 I'm a similar age to you both and have never given DOOM a fair play chance. Might have to pick it up. Did you guys play the original half-life? It had a massive impact on how I looked at games back in the day, and I've seen there's a new remake called Black Mesa that has stellar reviews. I'd love to see/hear what you both thought about it! I look forward to your next podcast. Thanks
Hey mate a lot of people are recommending Half Life! We’ve both played it and I reckon we will do it for the pod, just need a break from FPS games to keep the videos fresh. Thanks for watching, and 100% give DOOM a shot.
@The Bonus Points I look forward to seeing it! Definately do Black Mesa instead though as it is the same story just implemented in a modern way. Just realised its 50% off on steam too so gonna pick that one up! Also, games like c&c from the dial up era 👌
I'm playing through it for the first time on my school calculator. It holds up really well!
Underrated comment

I would never have thought a game would be this cool and advanced in 1993!
Where would you put it on the list?
@@thebonuspoints think I would have to put it top 😎

Thanks for engaging
This game is so iconic that even I, a now 20-year-old, have played through DOOM 1 and 2 completely, many on Ultra-Violence.

The quick-saving feature was actually in the original, and was encouraged in the manual.
Love this podcast so much dude! Also I just recovered from covid as well, about 2-3 weeks ago

Great show guys! It's cool to just have some chilled-out commentary that I can glance at every now and again. Hope you keep rocking!
Hi Stampy and Oli!
Always looking forward for the podcast. Let's go!

I think you’ll find Duke Nukem 3D is a DOOM type game! Doom is the daddy
@@thebonuspoints I see!
This is my 2nd favourite podcast the Magic Animal Club Podcast holds strong in 1st funny how stampy is in both 😅

It’s a short game! Def give it a go before listening, but you probably don’t need to finish it this time. It doesn’t have a story.
Okay great! I’ll try and play a bit of it so I understand it a bit then listen :)) keep up the great work
oh the nostalgia. This was one of the first games I played on the computer

The only doom game I've played was eternal on the switch. And it just wasn't for me but it sounds like "back in the day" they were better
Good stuff guys, can I suggest a game for the future? If i can: Lego Starwars The Complete Saga.
