I agree that adding tape to the crayon boxes or putting them in a plastic bag is a good ideal. They get tossed around so much. Filler for 2-4 age was also a need as well as boy filler. I'm sure it depends upon the region; from what I have been told by missionaries serving in Africa (for example)-the children share with one another. Communities pull resources together as well. While OCC shoeboxes are not humanitarian aid, giving children school supplies is easy and economical to pack and can make a difference. I love your question because it really made me think. I know there are organizations that help to meet this need. I will look into that more, as it is something that has been in my heart! I have a question, i know school supplies are important. But what happens when the child uses up the school supplies that are sent in the box?

I imagine multiple pencils will last a long time. A notebook however could get used up faster.
