I rarely root against The Captain but this performance has spared the ladder from a wave of mass reaper cheese.
I dont even play starcraft and I think mass reapers is extremely infuriating thing to deal.
Mass reaper as a opening was fine and I really think you didn't have to stick with it in order to finish your opponent. When banshee tanks come out you are just fighting uphills. Despite huge worker kills in the beginning. The rest is just painful. It could have been beautiful...now it becomes a grind.

I miss the time when the reaper had a grenade attack for attacking buildings which made them better.
They removed that because it was imba, in fact reapers have received many, many nerfs since they started because of how Imba they used to be.
@@sevenpolar3483 As far i remember in WoL reapers was not used at all. They costed 50/50 but required tech lab to build. In HotS they where redesigned - the granade attack for building was changed in to ability, they got a pasive heal ability, and not longer required tech lab to build.
@@Fragath1 it depended when you played WoL, reapers got a lot of nerfs during WoL before the redesign, the redesign was clearly a response to how difficult the unit was to balance
@@sevenpolar3483 Yeah but a lot of the imbalance was because back then a lot of main bases only had a single cliff to jump so the Reapers could come in from anywhere.

Just remember that Harstem is a protoss player, and he waited for a pause even after that starting messages.
Don't build reactors with mass reapers. You have excess minerals so just build barracks
The harstem curse, any time you say "i see no world where im not completely dominating this game" and then proceeds to watch 3 tanks and 20 marines show up on his doorstep while he has 7 reapers... or just loses outright

a nydus network provides travel faster than light. logic doesn't matter.
Massive units being immune to knockbacks and lifts are one of those times 'logic' actually makes good gameplay through counters.

After the first 5 minutes I kept just repeating "Vikings. Vikings. _Vikings._ Like, two friggin' Vikings!" to myself and hoping you'd counter the banshees.
And then it was BCs trying to catch Banshees. My little Mantra didn't come to fruition.
I would love to see a BGMWSS with a high tech zerg rush, getting to ultra's or broods as quickly as possible.
Reminded of my experience in bronze facing mass reapers. Very frustrating... Till I started rushing defensive cannons, then it's just very funny watching them leap into surprise cannon fire :D

I just make oracles, I'm a rat so after dealing with the reapers I see it as an opportunity to go carriers

you should be able to do reaper + thor instead of reaper + b.c. -- thors are just big reapers, so tall they can hit air units. like how colossus are long zealots.

also good in this situation in TvT, when you have more bases than him, but he has thors, go basetrade the orbitals with the battlecruisers and go ghosts and mines or even banshees. Nukes could have changed this game a lot
No massive unit can be bounced by the grenade, ultras even more so because they are frenzied and immune to any displacement or slowing. They're not slowed by marauder grenades, can't be abducted, can't be neuraled, can't be lifted (although that also applies to massive units).
Also i'm fairly sure thors don't really counter BCs well, do they? If you teleport on top and just yamato them down, they should beat thors, no?

Your grasp of basic mechanics is hilarious to me. I'd just like to clarify you are better at sc2 than me.
reapers hit twice for 3 damage, so +1 is amazing for them but thors have so much armor reapers do almost nothing to them, despite the fact that a swarm of light units also takes little damage from a thor, reapers don't counter thors. I learned this playing the zerg hex custom game vs Scarlett.
also grenades don't bounce any massive units. That is a core part of the massive tag.
Harstem has a lot of feedback on the reaper for the next balance summit at least

TBF I think Vikings would probably be a decent addition for mass Reaper just to cover AA needs and as high-ground vision.

New idea for BGWSS: Gas-Sabotage. Focus All effort on destroying your opponents Gas mining facilities (Extractors/Assimilators/Refineries) and prioritise killing their workers that are mining gas before other workers. I'm thinking a lot of good micro drops might be able to get this done, and then pick up and go to a new base and do the same thing.
He did this at least once. Disastrous when it forced Terran to just build stim marines and thrash him! 😅

OK so I know it dishonourable but when you are base trading with an opponent you have air they have ground you need to fly your cc to a corner and then wipe out there base before they realise they can't get to all your buildings.
in the first game you could have waited way longer with the engagement, lift the third, scv up and reaper up, make even a viking and set up a 360 surround thanks to the reapers and when he seeges your natural, THEN attack. Your lack patience is your barrier man. And your fear to lose also, just play the game and switch tech

you could have ended the game earlier if you weren't so afraid of entering his base. you basically didn't use the best feature of the reaper, the cliff jump.
grenade should bounce a thor? that wouldnt make sense. but then again it doesnt make sense that a grenade can bounce a cyclone. how silly would it be if you could grenade a command center and have it temporarily lift of the ground or even knock back away from a mineral line xP
Used too many scans on those banshees early on instead of mules, I feel ravens would have worked way better than the BC's. They could have disabled the tanks and thor's and you could have gotten more minerals for more reapers!
Man, I don't even play this game, but I am screaming that he's not going after the full base trade and keeps engaging with the Thors in game 1.

Game one would have been an easy win if he would have actually put reactors on any of his barracks haha. Building just reapers one at a time from only 5 or 6 racks. 17 minutes in he started reactors. If he would have treated them like Zerglings he would have won like 8 minutes in. Only ever had like 20 at a time though.
I'd prefer it if you hadnt blocked that protoss player, I kinda wanna see what he said. I bet there was some absolutely delicious salt at the end of that game, and now all of us will never know... :(

Can someone who play StarCraft explain the first game to me? How does the opponent come back after having his economy completely wiped 5 minutes in? Is it just because of the reaper's restricted usefulness?
