Second suggestion: "Deadly Hallucinations" - Harass the opponent's mineral line with drops consisting of a Prism, DTs, and a sentry. The goal is to hallucinate a colossus for a fake colossus drop. Your opponent should see a colossus attacking probes and probes dying (but actually dying to DTs). Bonus points if you successfully force out a hard counter to colossi from your opponent, such as tricking a Terran to build vikings instead of scanning.
Pick a low level build from ‘Is it INBA or do I suck?’ Or ‘rank roulette’ and use it for this series. You can even write a few down and draw them from a hat at random before each game.
Back in the Wings of Liberty and early HOTS days, I used to experiment with gasless and low-gas builds. Conceptually, this just meant controlling your gas income and having precise plans for every gas spent, to maximize your economy and upgrades for your mineral units. Back then, with less overall units in the game, the balance was shifted more toward macro/econ and tech was less emphasized. It was considered normal and even "meta" to primarily rely on low-tech units with upgrades. It was at this time, back in 2011-2012, that I discovered the joy of Zealot based multi-prong aggression, with two warp prisms, tight upgrades and charge timings. I didn't force myself to use only zealots - a stalker or two to snipe overlords, with immortals and templar/archons to dump gas for a late game transition. The two-base all-ins and timing attacks possible utilizing this style are outright n a s t y, when you free up the gas-probes to mine minerals, like a zerg-speed build where you pull drones off gas after zergling speed. You can do the same thing with Warpgate/+1. I found that the greatest strength of this style is to establish "Localized advantage" with a small number of units in multiple locations at once. 4 zealots is a very casual drop for a protoss player, and requires a disproportionate response to prevent economic damage. Each loaded warp prism can also warp in off all of your warpgates, giving you a healthy number of zealots you can fling into mineral lines. You can time your attacks so you hit a base on the outskirts with JUST enough zealots to make a player panic and pull their whole army while you are warping in and distributing zealots everywhere else. Do this all over the place at the same time, most players up to Master league just fall apart. It makes me really happy to see this playstyle being used by a GM in the LOTV era, where tech and gas seem to rule all. Thank you Harstem, you have gained a subscriber out of this old zerg fanatic.
I would like to request a classic of yours: Pretending to be AFK - BGMWSS, especially if you are on a map with a gold base for your proxy base. The previous times you did it were a lot of fun, and I think being able to start it on a gold will help offset the loss of early eco that makes this one so challenging. You mentioned that you almost had the opportunity to do it in CMA recently, and you seemed excited to try it out. You definitely got my hopes up! :D
From the void: You can only attack via Warp Prisms, either drops or warp in's, or both. No walking on the map, and no air. Bonus points for doing massive 20 unit warp in's.
Casters only: Can only build units that use abilities that cost energy. If that is too hard, expand that to units that have abilities with cooldowns. I realise with protoss that is pretty much every unit, but lets say you have to unlock blink to build stalkers. I also just realised that protoss wouldn't have any AA except high templar and canons (I will certainly allow static) with the former option. Try to include as many energy based casters as possible though!
If you allow cooldowns, only archons, laser giraffes and carriers are banned. He can open with adepts and voidrays/oracle/phoenix, or immortals. Many of the standard openings remain unchanged. On the other hand, if you don't allow it, only oracles and sentries are available for the opening. That will be very challenging imho. The thing is, I always think of bgmwss series as doing some stupid strategy that gives you some edge, not just a handicap. I really enjoyed this last one, because going only zealot lets you save gas, get upgrades sooner, expand sooner, and confuse your opponent. I don't see an edge in oracle + sentry. You will die to 8 marines. Let's think and find some edge for it. On the other hand, Harstem did a mass oracle the other week. That was essentially "only energy units".
@@mehdimarashi1736 yeah, you're right, and I did foresee problems with this idea. We could go with activated abilities only to include stalker and adept (but not include zealots, immortals or carriers) for example. This would limit the unit pool and tech choices and force a lot of micro. A fair amount of decent unit options are available there though so it won't be that much different from a slightly strange macro game. It would be quite gas heavy and difficult to manage, but most builds that come out of it would be viable.
I loved to do that in low level 4v4. 3 Nexi first, then 3 forges and tech needed to chronoboost the upgrades to 3-3-3 and while they all still camp and do nothing, a ton of gateways and more tons of zealots, shredding everything in their path. Was hell of a lot of fun.
BGMWSS: You can only build one type of unit from each production facility each game. An exception to the rule for observers and warp prisms; they don’t take up a robo pick. Something like a tempest, blink DT, immortal contain. Or a blink stalker, decent oracle count, disruptor comp for instance
Reminds me of the Wings of Liberty 2-Gate expand build with 3-Zealot pressure. Was never popular but totally died with the LotV economy updates, but I'm happy to see something similar even for simple 3rd base delay.
Hidden Probe: Send 2 probes to scout, clicking a mineral patch to stack them. After the enemy sees the probe scout, try to split the 2nd probe off in fog, and use it to do some proxy cheese. Baby, Take the Wheel: You play the first 4 minutes of the game, and then your gf has to take over and finish the game.
Freeze Tag: you have to rally all your non-worker units across the map from wherever their production building is (or move-command your warp-ins across the map from where you warp them), and then they have to stay on hold-position until an unfrozen unit tags them in. At that point, the tagged-in unit has to get move-commanded back to one your nexuses before you're allowed to add it to a control-group and attack with it.
They don't have to go completely across the map - maybe just like halfway - so they end up having to move-command through the middle of the map. Once they're tagged-in, they can take any path you want - but you have to move-command them all the way back to any nexus before they can join the fight.
This actually a working strat even in GMl. U can send worker and queen. Quickly build and cancel hatch and put first tumor in that place. Then just spread creep agressively.
@@ЖопаТвоя-ш9м I have never been a Zerg player just I never understood why the Overlords don't support the Queen walk if they could blurp some creep on the way to speed them up. I actually experimented witha very similar build against zerg as a serious attempt to beat other people at my level (low NA gm). The problem i found is that you are helpless against early roach ravager. You need cyber core units fast to hold it, whether that's voids or stalker battery. Even getting a forge doesn't help hold because ravagers can bile down cannons too easily. This build only works if your opponent isn't scouting very heavily. Most higher rated players might actually get rekt.
Low gas spent on units could be fun, something like Only have 1 gas allowed per base, and you aren't allowed to produce gas units out of several buildings at once without getting (relevant) upgrades for them first
Suggestion: Always treat your other base like your first base. Basically, always make sure enemy can't penetrate your base. Wall it, canon it, shield it. Always defend it like it's your last base. No need to offense. With this strategy, there's a time when your base is too large and they can't even attack you anymore, or they resources is too low, and all of your base has great defense, then attack them. When you defend you have to send at least 14 supply for an attack, preferably having them on the map already and never at home defending
Maybe like no defending? you have to encounter your enemy before they reach your base. Another thought : Proxy any major upgrade building like core Templar Dtemplar fleet beacon forge etc. the point being u cant have any major buildings in your base.
The honest talker challenge: in the start of the game pause the game, tell the enemy your build/plan and play it. This can be even paired up with smth.
I want to see games where you use archons exclusively for any and all aggression. Similar to this video you could use whatever units and buildings you feel are needed for defense.
Do a 1-1-1 Over and over again in 1 game. That means youre only allowed to build Gateway, Robotics, stargate in that order, repeating until you end the game :)
Idea 1. you build as much of your production as possible on the map for a macro game. Idea 2. You have to build at least 1 Robo for every 2 gateways. Then we can have a truly ludicrous and amount of robo units.
Go pure glass cannon. Sentries. Dts. High Templar. Tempests. Oracles. Basically anything that has low health, and high dps or spellcasting in any combination with any strategy.
commitment to a fake build order by using mass hallucinations. then the actual composition is mass sentry plus 1 of any other unit that you think pairs well with it for the matchup.
Captain. sOs vs Bunny, GSL 2020, season 1. Please replicate this. This is the best cheese and will be a very funny challenge for sure. Nexus in the main base of your opponent??? Only to make and hide a probe and warp a few DTs.. I wish I could erase this match out from my mind and go through it a few more times, so it is worth a shot for Harstem to give it a try 😘 Everything is allowed to convince a cheese the opponent, as long as the main goal (making a nexus in the main base in order to conceal a probe to make a hidden warping pylon) is achieved. This will rely a lot on opponent's reaction Good luck!! Magic
I'd love to see you play zerg and make a macro hatch at every base you make. (so at the start of the game you'd need a macro hatch before you could expand. (and a macro hatch for the nat)
Been watching for awhile now, I think you should do a live stream episode and answer questions, and we could suggest build orders in the super chat. Would be interesting to get to know you better too.
The way you sent 2 prisms on different locations and managed to warp zealots and keep the prisms alive, just wow man. Btw, why do chargelots walk that fast when they're not charging into any unit? It happened as soon as the upgrade of the Twilight Council finished.
Harstem is there a vod anywhere of you telling the story of how you got your captain hat? I think it was from a homestory cup several years back and it was hilarious.
Suggestion: mass high Templar storm like just kill everything with storm then archon followup maybe so stalker at the beginning of you need time to get storm
I think if your going to do a zelot only it should be a 1 or 2 base all in since its a low tech unit and you really can't wait for them to tech to a hard counter like mutas. If your going to do a 2 base all in you need a lot more gates at the 5 minute mark.
Hey Harstem. i would like to see u early raven rushing! it is my favourite strategy. 111expand marine tanks ravens attack with 5 vikings turret harrass! gl hf 🙂

Would love to see mass disruptor/disruptor drop again!
I feel like in that last game.... Florencio would have already had a corner base :)
Idea 1. you build as much of your production as possible on the map for a macro game.
Idea 2. You have to build at least 1 Robo for every 2 gateways. Then we can have a truly ludicrous and amount of robo units.
Bro you are so fast and capable ..i think u can even beat them with only probes too
You're a content MACHINE!
Here is a suggestion. Playing zerg and while you allowed to do anything defense-wise, you can kill your opponent’s structures only with corruptors.
Go pure glass cannon. Sentries. Dts. High Templar. Tempests. Oracles. Basically anything that has low health, and high dps or spellcasting in any combination with any strategy.
Did you know that tempest have the DPS of a single stimmed marine
Honestly building Protoss units is like buying food at an airport 😂🤣
Protoss Bio. Only zealots, adepts, and templar of both kinds. Prism and observer support allowed.
interesting idea could you mess with the opponent's "a"-move ai by make say 6 hallucinated carriers and get more value from your army that way
commitment to a fake build order by using mass hallucinations. then the actual composition is mass sentry plus 1 of any other unit that you think pairs well with it for the matchup.
also, idea for thumbnail and title "Who is Keyser Sentry?" with a picture of Keyser Söze having a sentry photoshopped onto his head
Captain.
sOs vs Bunny, GSL 2020, season 1.
Please replicate this. This is the best cheese and will be a very funny challenge for sure. Nexus in the main base of your opponent??? Only to make and hide a probe and warp a few DTs.. I wish I could erase this match out from my mind and go through it a few more times, so it is worth a shot for Harstem to give it a try 😘
Everything is allowed to convince a cheese the opponent, as long as the main goal (making a nexus in the main base in order to conceal a probe to make a hidden warping pylon) is achieved. This will rely a lot on opponent's reaction
Good luck!!
Love seeing mass zealot, or anything really.
8:28 zealots making an arrow shape for free thumbnail
"opinion backed by science"
-harshtem
Would you consider doing "reruns"? I really liked the Prism Cannon Rush challenge
Suggestion:
No hotkeys, only mouse action :3
Diet version:
You have to use the classic hockey setup o.O
Suggestion: Build a shitload of Overlords to conceal your units underneath so that your enemy can't target them.
Mass Archon for BGMWSS!
Suggestion: Large units only. Only able to build units that cost more than 2 supply (excluding probes).
I had a great time. I hope you had a great time.
I feel like mass zealot is something the protoss would do anyway.
ŻwawyIndy means SnappyIndy : ) And i think same that it is IndySC2.
Suggestion: mass high Templar storm like just kill everything with storm then archon followup maybe so stalker at the beginning of you need time to get storm
You were playing Zerg as Protoss ... the zealots were lings and you fast expanded xD
I think you got very lucky not facing a terran with that build
Loved Your game against MaxPax.
Ok, the next one should be proxy carrier rush
Can you try mass warp gate spreading pylons like creep
He once did something like that. It was a "you can't go anywhere you don't have a pilon", and he lost all of the games.
OP Oracles only
I think if your going to do a zelot only it should be a 1 or 2 base all in since its a low tech unit and you really can't wait for them to tech to a hard counter like mutas. If your going to do a 2 base all in you need a lot more gates at the 5 minute mark.
Mass phoniex disruptor!!
3 hour video of non stop cannon rushes in diamond or master
Pour one out for the homies: Take a shot every time a biological unit is killed. Hard-mode - play zerg.
nvm just imagining a big fight where harstem loses 50 supply of lings... don't want him to die.
For the first game, you think that after sending that overlord in your base for almost 10 minutes unmolested he would have sent another one.
Widow mines, marines, and medivacs.
BGMWSS you are the protoss ladder hero, once your starport is done you can only build void rays
Well that is pretty much standard Bo at the moment :P
BGMWSS: Mass Adept, Mass Sentry
Beating Voidrays with chargelots! That's the deal )
Finally a build i think I can use.
Hey Harstem. i would like to see u early raven rushing! it is my favourite strategy. 111expand marine tanks ravens attack with 5 vikings turret harrass! gl hf 🙂
BGMWSS: single unit... infesters :)
This is pretty much my normal playstyle, except I eventually also make archons.
Suggestion :
i forget what the video was. but you tried to get a certain amount of kills with one unit without losing it. anyways i remember u saying you wanted to try it with a probe
I wonder have well pure Immortals would do. But that would be very slow and need tons of gas. Maybe start it at the 10 minute mark? or with Phoenix support?
Suggestion: you can only build pylons when you are supplied block
Handicap ideas: play with no hot keys
In loving memory of Elliot the zealiot
Zealots are amazing.
Hahah laughed laughly so badass
