I can’t find the comment anymore, but someone pointed out something really profound during Santa’s explanation as to why Candy didn’t get the job. It’s not because she’s missing a stereotypical masculine trait but a stereotypical FEMININE trait: being good with children. You know that was by complete accident given how this entire show is written.
I also think it was just being good with kids and liking kids in general that was her problem. Bc what I saw for what Rogan Santa observed was some kids came into this room they were in (I forget the reason they rushed in, it's been a few years since I've watched it😅) and Candy got a little annoyed by them and tried to shoo them off or something. And this other guy who was in the running for Santa just embraced them and hung out and stuff with them. And it was this aspect that Rogan Santa said caused him to side in favor of the Frat Bro guy, just being a better people person & kid person. I think he brought up that she was the more technical and competent Santa candidate that had years of technical experience and could do the job. But just wasn't great to work with. However I think what ends up happening is they end up co-Santa-ing. FratBro is the face, and she handles all the logistics and technical behind the scenes stuff. 🤔 at least that's what I remember.
I remember this scene, as it was one of the very few genuinely _good_ scenes in this train wreck of a “comedy.” It could have been a turning point in the show too for the super unlikable Candy to actually have some introspection and character development, as that conversation between her and Santa actually was very decent and showed that he wasn’t just not allowing her to be his successor to be a dick, but because he had observed that she lacked the fundamental trait in being the next Santa, which was liking kids. He knew she had the experience and expertise in the going-ons in the factory and PR, but when the holiday revolves around bringing happiness to the little ones, it definitely would disqualify her as being the face of Claus, and made a pragmatic decision based on his observations while still not discounting her capabilities. But of course, they had to made him some drug dealer to undo all that crap to put Candy in the right. That was aggravating AF.
