Her becoming the headmaster as a reward for defeating the bad guy despite having 0 academic achievements is something that sounds straight out of a Skyrim questline

I mean, I guess as a counter point, maybe that position was literally all the College of Winterhold could give you. Like imagine they barely had money or spare resources, so they gave you the Headmaster/Archmage title as a way to give you access to what they had; basically a nice room and some experts to consult. You’re definitely not manning any regular duties or teaching anyone, and you’re only paid when you do more quest stuff, so it kinda lines up.
Damn imagine being a, presumably, certified instructor of arcane arts and having perhaps decades of teaching and training under your belt only to be told some teenager is now your boss because she managed to stop your evil old boss.
Love how some of the characters just straight up float an inch above the ground in some scenes. This rip off is another example of something that feels as if a still frame could pass as like, an early WIP render of a much better film.... But as soon as the characters move and speak, oh man, it's just awful. lmao
Reminds me of Food Fight honestly, and could be a similar issue where they made basically a demo cut and ran out of time/money before the final cut so they just ran with what they had.
Just want to point out that the Snape not being the bad guy twist was already done in the first Harry Potter book. They weren't even really subverting expectations with that.
Fun fact, in a authors note of gintama manga the author talked about how he almost didn’t write Gintama and almost did a lazy Harry Potter knockoff after a period drama manga he was writing failed. He wrote Gintama after a fight with his editor about cramming random shit into a period piece setting.
It's kinda funny, I love watching people review those types of movies in videos like this, but I can't STAND watching the actual ripoffs themselves, I just find them so unbelievably boring.

Yeah I agree with y'all, redemption characters are nice and all but I wanna see some power hungry characters like back the. Jack horner being one of those who likes to be evil cuz why not is refreshing to see. The whole thing with Disney and a family member or someone being a villain got old way to quick. I want to pitch my idea for a series of books, it's my own original idea and definitely not a rip-off. Harriet Topper is raised by her father's mildly annoying cousins, the Duallies. One day, she is approached by a dwarf named Corundum Tired and told that she has magical powers. She is then taken to Swinezit's Academy of Sorcery and Parlor Tricks, run by Bertcab Fallthreshold. There, she meets two friends, Roland Ferrety and Hermithree Farmhouse, and her rival, Saurus Foildad. Harriet, together with Roland and Hermithree, go on many adventures in order to thwart the villian, Baron Elvis Moldytod. I'm thinking of calling the first book "Harriet Topper and the Warlock's Rock."
This movie feels like a school project that you had too big plans for that you thought you could co but couldn't and then panic when you realize you forgot to put the actually important stuff in it (AKA the horribly animated story sequence) and then scramble to put it in the project last minute.
I’m gonna be real, the characters doing a rain dance so they can see where the invisible steps are is pretty smart. It might’ve been lifted from somewhere else (wouldn’t be surprised) but I’ll call it where I see it

Fun fact, in my current dnd campaign i made a tabaxi named timantha. It was going to be an inside joke since last time i was 1304, or boy, and the dm mentioned how hard it was to remember if my character was a guy or girl. But now it's devolved into another joke which is every time i introduce myself i'll say "my name is timantha but some call me....tim". My intent is next time i introduce my character, she makes an explosion happen. Toss a little oil, a little produce flame, and tada, reference.
The butterfly part isn’t factually correct. She turns into a monarch butterfly, and they are poisonous to consume, and birds already know this! So the idea that the bird tries to eat her is just incorrect.
This movie does have potential. The character designs look like a mobile game, but it's fine. I've seen worse. Just at least make them change clothes. For the plot... What if the robot that brings Aura to Apple Valley breaks down and someone finds her and takes her in? She raises Aura to be a strong young lady who's taller than everyone around her. Aura even has to duck when going inside her home. Yet she's a great inventor and makes contraptions to help the villagers. While walking through the woods, she finds the robot broken down and brings it back to repair it. She gets it repaired and it becomes her friend. Just a day later, she receives a letter that's basically an acceptance letter to the school. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity so she takes it, but the robot is against it. She meets Don (fake Ron) and he's a jerk at first. She arrives at the school and Don is her roommate of course for plot. She attends classes and does regular magic stuff. Professor Crepe is a jerk and Headmaster Frank isn't. Also Frank turns out to be her uncle and puts her on the best track to embrace her magic powers. Yet the robot keeps telling her Frank is bad news but she doesn't listen. Anyway Aura and Don get closer and start to notice strange things about the school. They find the cage dude and the whole plot is put together like a puzzle that gradually figured out so when the backstory is told it's like an "ooooooh!" Moment. Anyway the guy that got the key hides it in Aura to keep it safe but Frank catches wind of it and kills Aura's parents and stuff to get to it. But the robot takes Aura far away. Aura's the other key and that's why Frank wanted her so bad. Frank kills the robot and turns everyone including her to stone and Crepe frees her. It turns out he's actually her uncle and was mean so he could scare her away to keep her safe. The evil battle ensues and Aura uses a mix of magic and her inventing abilities and defeats him with the help of Don and Crepe. Crepe becomes headmaster instead and actually does a good job and Aura helps improve the school with her inventions
Speaking of $12 Million, Winx Club: The Mystery of the Abyss looks much cheaper than Academy of Magic, but it has better animation when it comes to how the characters move, but that’s not saying much.
Magical Adventure (the 2nd one) is still the worst out of all the Winx Club movies imo despite the fact that Mystery of the Abyss tried so hard to be hip with the youth with the Justin Bieber name dropping and the rap that Tritanius and the Trix do at the ending dance party scene.

The poster saying the movie is “from the creator of Cars” is absolutely wild. The man is credited as an “additional storyboard artist”. Not to discredit storyboard artists, but claiming you created the movie is so intentionally deceptive.
Actually, as far as I'm aware, the guy who was behind Cars for this movie is only responsible for "Additional Storyboarding" in cars. That explains a lot
After realizing how overrated her franchise is and that Elsa was more loved by the "fans" for non-PG reasons, Anna took acid to escape reality and ended up having a very weird fever dream.
The Voice Director for this movie was Cindy Robinson. She’s the English VA for Labrys from Persona 4, Makoto Nanaya from Blazblue, the current voice of Amy Rose, as well as other voices.
6:58 Reminds me of how the concerts in PSO2NGS have the first song: Song of War: Against Fate, which is a big band jazz song played with only a drum set, a guitar (the guitarist switches to a trumpet for an instrumental bit near the end of the song but not only was it notably absent for the rest of the song alongside the rest of the wind section, the guitar sound picks back up without him once the vocals come back) and a double bass. Also relevantly, you can hear a piano in addition to all the other missing instruments. Also all the instruments are played by 90% robot cyborgs (base PSO2 lore says all the CASTs used to be humans).
1:14 No that's knock off Lucius after being transformed into a doll, thrown away, trash compacted, turned back into a human and then being Arvada Kedavrad and then being brought back to life and signed up for a knockoff hogwarts💀
*21:03* The part when SpongeBob Minion robot thingy got kil by the evil dragon honestly made my cry. Truly one of the most emotional fight scenes ever created. 11/10 movie, how dare you talk crap on it, Sabre Sparky!
The flying disk thing may be due to laziness, but I kinda like the idea. Brooms are overrated. I guess even a blind dog finds a bone every now and then. The wizard school thing isn't exactly JKs original concept either. She uses it well, and may have even come up with it on her own, but Ursula LeGuin beat her to it. I don't think Ursula was the first either, not sure on that.
So, one of the earliest depiction of a "magic school" seems to be the Scholomance from the Romanian folklore. The articles by Wilhelm Schmidt (1865?) and Emily Gerard ("Transylvanian Superstitions" 1885) collected some of tales. Then there were the Robert Sheckley's short story "The Accountant" (1954) and Eleanor Estes' The Witch Family (1960) .
The animation was in the same level as Moonscoop/Splash Entertainment, but they just ripped off both Harry Potter and Disney, had the director behind Cars work on this, and Laura Stahl, Ben Diskin, and even Michael Johnson are in here! We also had Ben Diskin, as well as Kate Higgins, Debi Derryberry, Christopher Corey Smith, Josh Tomar of OneyPlays(in Journey to Bear Kingdom, which he regretted participating in), Chris Niosi, and others casted in the infamous Alpha and Omega sequels, which is where I became an avid Dumbsville viewer.
I think the old man that was locked in the cage would just drop trow, poop on the floor, and use magic to teleport it somewhere far away. If they're going to rip off the Wizarding World, they might as well claim this but of trivia, too.
I love that right as this video talks about the terribly done voice acting, showing a scene where the characters woodenly introduce themselves, it cuts to that Disney+ Willow commercial where the character awkwardly introduces herself just as poorly.
I just about lost my marbles hearing that Ben Diskin, the voice actor for my comfort character, Lemres, in Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 and 2, was involved in this. I still think about how one of my friends met him at Anthrocon a few years back, still jealous to this day.
Honestly, might be less controversial than Harry Potter. 14:20 I know that is a common complaint with media, but *to be fair,* Frank looks like he would have been the grandfather's old friend.

Harriet, together with Roland and Hermithree, go on many adventures in order to thwart the villian, Baron Elvis Moldytod. I'm thinking of calling the first book "Harriet Topper and the Warlock's Rock."

This movie feels like a school project that you had too big plans for that you thought you could co but couldn't and then panic when you realize you forgot to put the actually important stuff in it (AKA the horribly animated story sequence) and then scramble to put it in the project last minute.
The 2D animation makes me think they didn't have the budget (despite on of 12 mill) to 3D animate everything.

Fun fact, in my current dnd campaign i made a tabaxi named timantha. It was going to be an inside joke since last time i was 1304, or boy, and the dm mentioned how hard it was to remember if my character was a guy or girl.
But now it's devolved into another joke which is every time i introduce myself i'll say "my name is timantha but some call me....tim". My intent is next time i introduce my character, she makes an explosion happen. Toss a little oil, a little produce flame, and tada, reference.

The butterfly part isn’t factually correct. She turns into a monarch butterfly, and they are poisonous to consume, and birds already know this! So the idea that the bird tries to eat her is just incorrect.
This movie does have potential. The character designs look like a mobile game, but it's fine. I've seen worse. Just at least make them change clothes. For the plot... What if the robot that brings Aura to Apple Valley breaks down and someone finds her and takes her in? She raises Aura to be a strong young lady who's taller than everyone around her. Aura even has to duck when going inside her home. Yet she's a great inventor and makes contraptions to help the villagers. While walking through the woods, she finds the robot broken down and brings it back to repair it. She gets it repaired and it becomes her friend. Just a day later, she receives a letter that's basically an acceptance letter to the school. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity so she takes it, but the robot is against it. She meets Don (fake Ron) and he's a jerk at first. She arrives at the school and Don is her roommate of course for plot. She attends classes and does regular magic stuff. Professor Crepe is a jerk and Headmaster Frank isn't. Also Frank turns out to be her uncle and puts her on the best track to embrace her magic powers. Yet the robot keeps telling her Frank is bad news but she doesn't listen. Anyway Aura and Don get closer and start to notice strange things about the school. They find the cage dude and the whole plot is put together like a puzzle that gradually figured out so when the backstory is told it's like an "ooooooh!" Moment. Anyway the guy that got the key hides it in Aura to keep it safe but Frank catches wind of it and kills Aura's parents and stuff to get to it. But the robot takes Aura far away. Aura's the other key and that's why Frank wanted her so bad. Frank kills the robot and turns everyone including her to stone and Crepe frees her. It turns out he's actually her uncle and was mean so he could scare her away to keep her safe. The evil battle ensues and Aura uses a mix of magic and her inventing abilities and defeats him with the help of Don and Crepe. Crepe becomes headmaster instead and actually does a good job and Aura helps improve the school with her inventions

The wizard school thing isn't exactly JKs original concept either. She uses it well, and may have even come up with it on her own, but Ursula LeGuin beat her to it. I don't think Ursula was the first either, not sure on that.
