- Lets talk centella in skincare and whether you can have too much centella asiatica and whether overusing cica could be causing you skin irritation.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video I want to talk about centella asiatica whether you can have too much cica in your skincare routine.
Centella, also known as cica is one of the most popular korean skincare ingredients and calms and soothes the skin. However with cica now being in so many of our skincare products could we be over using it and risking increase skin sensitivity and irritation.

I started using cica after you initially started recommending it. I don't go overboard with it. So far, so good.

Whenever I have had poison ivy or other severe irritation I use a centella cream a couple times a day and have never had problems.

Centella is also known as gotu kola. My parents grew them in the backyard and used it to treat inflammation or rashes. It worked wonders.

Apart from my oil cleanser i really don't have a focused Centella Asiatica product however i have several that have Centella between their several ingredients.
I think Centella kinda became like HA, ots just everywhere now because the ingredient is so soothing and most people recrivenefits from it.
I don't overdo it, however, like you said, too much pf a good thing is never a good practice.
Like tou said Centella and Vit C are actually an amazing combo!😍
Whenever i have hives on face i use centela work really great. Looking more centela product 😊
cica creams come from cicatrization creams not from centella, you can have a cica cream without centella (for example avene)
Can you give le tge name of the ceeam from aven olz

I use the Skin 1004 Brightening ampoule in the morning and the poremizing one in the evening.

@@cxlia6477 yes definitely. I stopped using the pore minimising one as it started to irritate my skin and left a tack on my skin. I love the brightening ampoule!
@Onethousandtime I had to stop using the pore minimising one. After a while it started irritating my skin. I put it down to the salt present but I don’t know for sure.

I'm starting to wonder if centella doesn't agree with my skin. The last 2 products I've used with centella asiatica have been soothing for a brief moment, but over time I noticed increased redness and irritation (which resolved when I stopped the product). This is hardly conclusive proof of an allergy/sensitivity to the ingredient, but it certainly has me feeling wary.
I feel the same way! Been getting a lot more redness recently, which is sad because centella is in so many products nowadays
I've been wondering the same. I started using the Skin1004 ampoule of it and noticed my skin was smoother within DAYS of starting it but now I'm getting more redness than before. 😢 I love the effects but the irritation is to much.
I also have red bumps on my face after using it, not sure why!
Same I bought that for redness and noticed irritation and some itchiness.
It sucks when something doesn't work for you. The Madagascar Centella ampoule has been great for me, but the Cosrx dual essence snail mucin seemed to make my skin worse despite people raving about it 🤷🏾♀️
Skin 1004 also make a light oil cleanser that is beautiful and rinsed off completely. Works on my sunscreen but I don't wear makeup so I can't comment on that.
Centella & Snail mucin are not for me 😢 I have allergic reactions to both.. many breakout : small pimples , what a nightmare
I use the Skin 1004 brightening serum after my vitamin C... I also have it in spray form, so I do spritz before serums. I also love the Skin1004 toners, so when I don't want serums due to wearing makeup, I use the toner instead. I also always have some in my skin care fridge in case of emergencies.'

Sick and tired of Centella in every fucking product. I’m allergic to grass pollen, and Centella is actually s grass type, hence the name Tiger Grass!

I think this is why I had an allergic reaction to it like my second or third day of use of the 1004 ampoule. I used to get hives a lot as a child from grass and strawberries.
I recently bought the skin 1004 centella ampoule because of the great reviews and the first week of use was fine, my skin had no reaction (I apply at nighttime only) - I didn’t notice much changes, but I figured it’ll take 3-4 weeks of consistent use to see if it’s clearing my acne scars. However, now that it’s been 2 and half weeks of use, my face gets super itchy with even the tiniest bit on my skin. Nothing has changed in my routine - I still use the same products as when I first started using the ampoule. Anyone had any similar experiences?

1st 3 days was awesome. Kindly healed my damage skin barrier and i was glowing. But after a week plus of constant use, my whole face turns red, dry with itchy tiny bumps all over my face. Even has 3 huge painful cystic acne. I am devastated now as i bought so many things from centella. I wanted to apply the laroche posay b5 balm to atleast soothe my skin but im too scared as it contains cica too right? Help 😢😢

@@immapink4454dont worry use avene cicalfate instead which doest contain centella its really good for redness .i have oily skin didnt cause any breakouts .
Hi Rob. Your last video inspired me, so now I use centella asiatica pure serum under my vit c derivative. But I am not sure what I should use first🤔 do you think it is ok this way?
Sometimes I use centella alone.
Can i use this with tretinion or retinol serum ?
