Target Returns Pallet $14,700 From Direct Liquidation

  • Today I unboxed a pallet full of returns from Target.
    Pallet Cost - $1,100.00 + Shipping
    Pallet "retail" Value - $14,700.00
    Sell value estimated $3000.00
    Target has a pretty flexible return policy, which means you can return items after you purchase them even if they were used.
    Direct Liquidation is a website where they receive those returns in large boxed "AKA Pallets" and then auction them out to the public.
    Then they arrive at your location with your choice of the shipping provider. Once you receive it you can sell them item individually or however, you wish to turn a profit.
    Some organizations purchase pallets to lower costs for bulk items that they need. But mostly it seems that people buy these return pallets to flip a profit.
    I hope you enjoyed my video, comment below what do you think, and subscribe for more videos.
    Thanks for 100k subs!

      Yes, this happened to me with Quicklotz.com and its Electronics MYSTERY Box. They show videos and photos with everything inside looking almost retail and they sent me a box full of semi-trash, 25% not working or broke, and all the packaging boxes totally destroyed. I know that the liquidation market is like that, but at least open and show me the real box! Don't choose your best returns of the year to show them in a single box/pallet as if it were common.

    Profit will not even be close to double after you factor in gas just to get to the post office and back home. You will be back and forth A LOT! Gas in California is over $4/gallon and some places are even over $5/gallon!!! For it to be worth it, I'd say the final sale value would have to be 3.5x or more (after fees). Because that's a lot of time/work invested, and it all comes down to how much you value your own time. Less than double profit is horrible for all that work/time.

    So when items get discontinued they get marked down , if they don't sell then they go to salvage which means it's at a zero dollar amount . Sometimes the items are old or the packaging changes so they mark them down to get rid of them. Others are just returns that the box are opened.

  • @CrosswaIk
    @CrosswaIk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    So $3000 estimate, -10% for eBay fees, -$1400 for the cost of the pallet shipped, that's $1300 before shipping which is probably around $3 average for what you have there. Looks like you're getting $1000 profit if everything sells on target and you expect that no buyers give you a hard time on eBay... Then there's the 10 hours of work taking pictures, listing, packaging, printing labels and bookkeeping. There's gotta be a better way 😂

      It might be 10% for eBay and PayPal for the more expensive items.
      For the cheaper items, the base eBay and PayPal fees will slam you. Plus if you're comparing to auctions that offer free shipping, that means you are paying shipping. That's going to quite a bit for stuff like dvd players.
      Also, rewatching the video, did he look up the price of a new sealed box of ink from Amazon w/ free shipping? Yea, good luck with that.
      I'm guessing a few hundred dollars of profit for a week of work. Not worth it at all unless you get a sponsor to send it to you for free like in this video.

    What's great about this channel is that he actually goes out and finds out how much profit he gets doing these things.
    That makes today's video very disappointing in that he just hand waves the value of these items, w/o actually selling them and finding how much they are worth and minus all all fees and costs of course.

    • @glenndingo7023
      @glenndingo7023 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He is quite experience by now. I think his estimate would be relatively accurate.

    • @texchu8331
      @texchu8331 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@glenndingo7023 The estimates are widely inaccurate because he calculated the profit of many items based on the sale price of the item new-in-box when many of them are opened or damage. This results in a much lower price.
      He also didn't subtract eBay, payment processor fees, or shipping costs, which can easily eat up 20-30% of the profits. Of course, it's still profitable because this a box the sponsor chose for him, but he's still overestimating quite a bit.

Goodwills here are FULL of Target returned goods, some new, some broken with the salvage stickers on them. Absolutely. If you want to fill out each listing with accurate item specific fields, short description, and shipping options it can take quite some time. This is compounded by the fact that he has so many different items in various shapes and sizes - need packing materials, boxes, bubble wrap etc. Which shipping service to use? Heavy items Fedex/UPS, small light items USPS. But USPS almost always cheaper if buyer is within 2 states of you. How about labeling the item. Are you going to cut and tape each label? Or is investing in a thermal printer a good idea? Source: I sell a lot of stuff on eBay

    Weirdly it’s only 20$ at target but there are about 15 on Amazon 3rd party sellers all asking at least 40$.
    Maybe if my daughter grows up to be a famous rock star her toy guitar might gain value, not sure why all the amazon sellers think it’s worth twice what they paid.

    Yeah this was a garbage pallet. I quite literally grew up around wholesale returns by truckloads and buying individual pallets in general usually isn't worth the money, but especially electronics imo. A lot of things were marked as "Salvage" which doesn't automatically mean its trash, there are instances where it's just mislabeled, but its considered as parts basically. Also his "home run pile" kinda sucks. Xbox One is slowly on its way out, Switch Joy cons are known for drift, and the rest is a gamble if its labeled salvage. Electronics is one of those high risk high reward because more people actively bid on them, usually a lower profit margin, and the items are only in high demand for a certain period of time. Even if you score good items you need to check if they all work (which isn't always possible). So you either sell it cheaper than you'd like "as is" or you sell it as "working" then find out later if it actually does when an angry customer comes back or leaves a bad review. Last time I checked the Amazon pallets were much better if you're looking to give this a try, but I haven't looked recently.
