    I remember Dad teaching me how to do that..we used an old jam can. But instead of the new lid, he had me make a cone style speaker. The magnets, unlike the ones used in vid, were the old fashioned doughnut style. Well I am speaking of the 60's. Savou e all those magnets you get in packaging, put them together to make a smaller speaker. Only very small magnets, but enough of them together should be suffient. Great way to educate yourd kids or grandies in the art of electronics.

    Question: I want to use LM386 for amplification to make the video audible. The circuit needs the positive and negative wire of the speaker. In this case which one is the positive and which one is the negative?

      trickybilly You need to put it to near in or (If the Voice coil can fit into another magnet of a speaker) Connect a battery
      If the Voice coil goes up If means plus

    Thank you. I have made this but there is no sound. Is a headphone cable good too? It has 2x2 cords. 2cords around 1 wire and 2 cords around the other one. Ideas?

    • @OverEngineered
      @OverEngineered  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am pretty sure your problem is that your signal is not strong enough for a speaker like this. For a speaker like this to work, you will need an amplified signal. The signals that directly come out of a computer/phone are weak because they feed headphones which use a weak signal.

    • @Kayshots

      500 turns for 4 homs. I reccomend 300 turns. That gives 12 ohms. The more ohms, the more bass.

      A bit like charging an electric car via diesel generator or directly from a power scourced from a coal driven power station...😂I did enjoy your sarcastic comment though. But maybe, like most of us...Trickabilly likes to experiment...no harm in that. The electronic age came from experiments...especially also, did the humble crystal radio sets. Trial and error...a lot of the latter, but respective inventors succeeded. Aaaahhh...the romance of discovery in electronics...kids plugged into their devices wouldn't have a clue how radio started, unless parents, or especially old fart grandparents like meself, to be sure, imparted their knowledge to the youngies. I have been bit by bit teaching my grandies how to make a crystal set...showed them my one, and they couldn't believe it wasn't powered by a battery.

    Would you be so kind to tell me what do I need to buy in order to amplify the signal enough so I can hear the music? I do not have an "amplifier". I can buy one but that seems like a broad term. What do you recommend? I want my speaker to "speak" :)

      trickybilly Just watch Keystone Science's AM trasmitter video. There is a simple circiut for amplifying any audio signal. Just keep in mind that you need a battery. If you liked it please try to subscribe to my channel. I am uploading regular videos in my Channel from next month.

      +Daniel Lloyd The speaker is really just an experiment and not meant to be a speaker that you would use all the time. The lid probably does poorly at high frequency vibrations.

    • @fishthegreat2525

      It’s easily possible. It’s using vibrations to creates certain sound waves that form music. The magnet pushes the copper coil wire when electricity goes through it and caused it to vibrate.
      Sorry if it’s difficult to understand what I’m saying I’m pretty tired and I mess up w/ grammar when I’m tired.
