I am 74 years old and have been working and playing with speakers all my life. I would never have believed someone could simply build components like you just did. Bravo.
Started nice, I was like "he is making a speaker to proof the way they work"... then he proceeds to make a tweeter and a full speaker box with bass port and all. OMG awesome work!
Right, at first I though he was just going to add that bought tweeter, then he proceeds to make a tweeter.. I'm like "This ****** ****** is going to make a tweeter too???
My 45+ years of working in audio, I have repaired speakers that people thought were beyond it. I HAD to watch the whole video out of respect for your creative skills - absolutely full marks Sorin, and then came the tweeter!
I couldn't think of any way to explain how a speaker works to my son... I think you just did. Buddy... What I just watched you do is absolutely incredible. So simple and the easiest way to understand how a speaker functions. Kudos
Yeah. I made a diy speaker box from an aluminum soda can and some pillow stuffing, and sealed it with hot glue to the point of no air leaks. This is an acoustic suspension design, and the pillow stuffing makes those sound better. Used a typical small 10 watt full range speaker driver. (Not a woofer, nor a tweeter, but can do both.), which I had mounted on the end you usually drink from, which was removed with a can opener. I was surprised when it actually sounded good, not unlike this. Literally took me an hour and a spare speaker driver to make.
Excellent. I commercially make speakers by the thousands for over 50 years now and yet found your video and techniques incredibly accurate and practical.

My guy you just made an entire speaker and told us every single parts or it and also showed us how to make it... I'm amazed. Cant thank you enough. Have a great day EVERYday my guy.
Speakers are rated in reactance resistance. So 5.6 ohms is generally 8 ohms on a speaker. Also if you put a metal ring or sleeve around the outside of the coil that would greatly increase the sensitivity as this would pull the magnetic field across the coil. Good job.
This is SUPERB ENGINEERING! Congratulations on a FANTASTIC build. Not only do we now know HOW speakers work but also how they are built from scratch! AMAZING! Thank You for show us all your work! V
Sorin, you're a goddamn electroninja. What a wonderful project! I enjoy your no-nonsense approach, and your use of real, accessible everyday objects. I have learned a lot from you. Thank you.
Absolutely outstanding work. I've looked at various diagrams without properly understanding it. Now I completely get it.Thank you Sorin! Modern manufacturing techniques mean even complex things can be manufactured extremely cheaply. Nothing here is hard to make in a modern factory, all the parts are so simple that Sorin was able to make a passable version out of literally nothing. I fully appreciate that speaker manufacturers use high grade materials to make really high performing drivers but, at its core, it's a very simple collection of parts. There must be plenty of profit to be made when selling a few of these drivers in a nicely built cabinet and charging £1k, 10k or even in excess of £100k in many cases. Anyway, Bravo Sir!
You are such an amazing man .you just describing each and every parts and even clearing doubts to everyone by just explaining things .happy to see u again .u just rocks ur projects with simplicity and clarity I loved ur project thanks a lot

Some tips for speaker making: 1. If stifer the speaker the more power it needs to get the same loudnes as a non stiff speaker 2. Higher the speaker impedance harder to drive it to the max volume 3. If your voice coil has smaler air gaph beneth the magnet, the biger will be the sensiviti (80dB
Cool!!! it is necessary to make measurements with a "Measuring microphone"... I always thought it was difficult... especially (to choose an annular ferrite magnet, upper flange, thickness, inner diameter of the upper flange)... And with a neodymium core magnet, everything is simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gonna lie, this speaker is AWESOME! I mean for a speaker made out of scrap materials, sounds freaking amazing! It has good highs, mids, and quite good bass! Keep up the good work!

VERY WELL EXPLAINED. You have done an excellent and more thorough job of explaining not only how a speaker functions but also how to make the components of the speaker which even look good compared to any other video I have seen on the subject. Thank you so much for making this video so even a total novice such as myself can easily understand how to make a speaker from scratch and have it actually work and even have an acceptable sound quality after making a few with slight changes to see what affects each change makes on sound quality so we can better understand how to eventually make speakers that perform and sound how we want them to. I’m not saying that your video will have anyone building speakers that will be concert hall quality after building just a few but your video gives us an understanding of it for us to use as a starting point in learning how to do it and over time , I am sure it can lead to building some that are better than some factory made ones. Who knows, maybe one of us who has gotten their start at building speakers from your video will someday expand their knowledge and skills to a level that allows them to create a new design that could revolutionize speakers in the future. (You never know. Stranger things have happened). It just takes the right teacher to spark the interest of the right person for things like that to happen.
