I appreciate these how to videos. While I never want to be locked up in prison, I find the videos entertaining and informative. The spirit in prison while at times seeming lonely and isolated has an interesting dynamic. It makes me both appreciate my freedom and also to recognize the hard work COs and jail staff take to make the time spent bearable and life altering. You are an excellent example of that.
I'm 31 and I remember when back in my early teens I'd still walk around with a Walkman with actual cassettes! Anyone still remember those?? Back then CD players were the new thing. I think the last cassette I bought before switching to CDs was the Marshall Mathers LP (hard to believe he's been around so long - or that time flies by so fast!), and by the time I got myself a CD player people began to switch to iPods. I've always been behind the times haha.

Medium state prisons in Ma don't allow you to buy CDs/players (considered a weapon). We had to strip headphone wire (from the walkman radios) a peanut butter jar top, headphone/tv Jack and length of wire (obv not striped) and finally and kinda hard to obtain a magnet (preferably 2). "Glue"" a magnet to the underside of the peanut butter jar then tape the striped wire (coil wire so that all is used except for the 2 ends). Tape/secure coil over magnet (will hover) and the ends are close but not touching. Finally, wire the headphones jack to ends of the coil (one wire to one side (colors do not matters) and repeat the process for the other wire and coil end. Simply plug it into the tv (prison style 12inch LCD speakers removed) and BANG you have a working SPEAKER!!! If you happen apon a second magnet it makes a nice feature if secured to other side of speaker (for convenience and MORE importantly hide it from the screws/Jake's/C.Os etc! :) Love you vids bud, this was a long ass msg on my behalf, just more "fun" prison made item's.

That and even B4 the disc-man, was the Walkman; Cassette Tapes were the best, but the CD player was pretty cool...

Pretty awesome prison invention right there. Hey it works pretty good and you can definitely notice a difference in loudness. Also when I was like 12 or 13 I had a GPX cd player with the anti skip and bass boost, thing worked great. I loved it. Now I'm 37 and I love having all my music on my phone. Some kids may not know about the cd walkman but back in the day if had one you was the shit.

yep, we made these and some newer radios came with the earbud style headphones that we used just some rolled up paper pulled out like a cone and taped or held together with toothpaste. contraband. imagine being in the hole for listening to the game with your celly..

im still using vinyls til this day, but tape and disc are pretty damn dead for me.
In TDCJ they’re made from headphone magnets and wires, paper, and cardboard. My homeboy made one that was 12” and he cranked up one night so loud that the guards could hear it from the picket. He was in his house with the door shut.
I didn’t have the commissary for the parts to make my own, so I never got to learn how to make it. I was hoping this would teach that type.
they only have ear buds at the prison im at and they use tapatio bottles to amplify the sound works similar

JOE, remember VHS and TAPE players?
Back in the BlockBuster days I would take VHS, pull out the tape from inside the VHS. Clip the FILM strip into 10 pieces from multiple movies. After cutting up the film strip I would then scotch tape the film back into place with film strips from different movies (USUALLY some weird0 porn), and/or rearrange the film, making the entire movie out of sequence with additional footage from different movies. Footage nobody wanted to see,

Hey joe why couldnt you just put the headphones over the tp role while still fully assybled? That way if a gaurd came in search of your contraband it would be faster to diassymble and get rid of
I still have a cd player and a pretty decent colection of cds. I still use them ocasionaly but i use spotify most of the time

i used...speaker from old radio...cord from old earphones...dry milk tin...attatch cord to speakers...melt plastic onto contacts to set...attatch speaker -tweeter facing up-into tin..plug cord into radio.walkman/cd...boom...prison bassbin

Hey Joe, not sure what camera you use or if it is capable of more than 1080p, but if you record and work in a higher resolution (say 4k) then you can zoom in a lot more in post without losing visual clarity while still exporting in 1080p.
See I don't know if I ever saw one quite like that. We always used a couple other methods w cups and rolled paper or whatever. I still use one method to boost my phone volume when I'm in the shower 😂

Not bad! But if you want more sound cut holes in a small soda can, (same size as tube) if it's not big enough to reach both ends snuggly? Well use a kitchen roll tube & cut accordingly. I know doing this makes it that more louder! PEACE OUT!!!
