This is my favorite, of all time. I watched it out of order the first time, and still loved it. I saw the eternity movie first, then the main movie, then the show.
Violet Evergarden is my favorite show. It's amazing. Top tier writing, top tier environment, top tier music, top tier voice acting (in the dub as well) and top tier animation. It's honestly the only movie/series that had a female lead that I loved so much.
Frieren would be such an amazing female predominant show thats a very different genre from what they usually watch. Great characters, great story, great themes.

Thinking about it, while I really enjoyed your watch of Cyberpunk, Violet would have been such a great follow up to you finishing Vinland. It’s almost a spiritual successor when it comes to its themes and such. This is going to be such a beautiful journey watching you to experience this.
I've made this connection a few months ago too. If you think about it Thorfinn and Violet have a lot in common, just replace dead dad and looking for the meaning of true strenght with dead major and looking for the meaning of love, and you'll see those two characters are extremely similar.
One of the best storytelling ever! I love how KyoAni work with the soundtrack and the animation and the voice actors, really the whole production. But specially, the author of this story! So brilliant and just amazing. Violet Evergarden left a very mark on my life, like for real.
If you want all female cast, I recommend watching „madoka magica“. Its 12 episodes long. So a quick watch, the characters are extremely interesting and complicated.

I've said the same thing in another reaction channel. The Violet Evergarden fandom is notorious for not shutting up about that one episode at every new reaction to it. Let's all just enjoy and let them enjoy one episode at a time, building hype for a given episode will only diminish their experience when the time comes. This apply to any show, not just this one. But Violet Evergarden is specially bad on this regard.
You guys then should definitely if you guys aren't already ahead, watch in chronological order. But it's fine iguess to watch them after if someone doesn't say otherwise. It's not needed every single anime but is neat to do so. So in chronological order it's -Episode 1-4 -Violet Evergarden OVA -Episode 5-13 -Violet Evergarden Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll Then the Movie that came out 2020.

Speaking of female-dominant anime, you can consider Bocchi the Rock, which is an amazing music anime. It is quite different from what you’ve watched, including this show. Although currently there is only season 1, the plot is straightforward so you don’t need to remember a lot of stuff to watch the upcoming season 2.

I think it's a great idea to prioritize anime with main female characters. I'd recommend the studio Ghibli movies for that, it's probably the anime studio that knows the best when the subject is female protagonists.

It's genuinely a treasure trove of complex messy well-written female characters who are given the time and development they deserve. They are individually great already but my favorite thing is how lovingly and complicatedly these women's relationships with each other is written (this applies to the entire cast but I'm highlighting the female relationships in particular since those tend to be underwritten or not given enough time on-screen in a lot of other shows). And not even just between the "heroic" women but their relationships with the female villains is also incredibly dynamic and so interesting! There are two seasons so far and a third is already in production. I really really think you guys would love this show! It has been on my mind for a while now honestly so I'm happy that I finally remembered to recommend it! ^_^ As for anime with female leads, these are some of my favorites that I think you guys would enjoy: 1) "A Place Further Than The Universe" --> four of the most lovable dumbass girls in existence work together to join an expedition to Antarctica. It's funny, heartwarming, laid-back, and so so kind. You WILL adopt these girls and treasure them for life! 2) "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" --> Fantasy world where we follow an Elf who is starting to grapple with her immortality and how that defines her relationship with the passage of time as she's faced with the short fleeting lifespan of the humans she comes to know and connect with. Also laid-back, heartwarming, slow-paced, and generally cozy. 3) "Bocchi The Rock!" --> THE most socially anxious teenager ever learns how to play the guitar and vows to join a band so she can make friends and step out of her bubble. Genuinely laugh out loud funny! Lovable main cast of four and very laid-back. Honestly not sure if this is a show you should watch on the channel since it doesn't really have a lot that inspires deep-dive discussions that I love from you guys (it's very straightforward) BUT I think you should watch it even if just in your own time because it is genuinely great! 4) "Vivy-Fluorite Eye's Song" --> Uhh ... I don't know how to summarize this but like ... Sci-Fi mystery where main girl (who is not human) receives information that something horrible is going to happen in the future so she starts trying to change events in her present to prevent that future. My kind of weird show 🤣 5) "Psycho - Pass" --> Also Sci-Fi mystery in a world where a system that predicts criminal behavior through psychological profiling is in place and we follow our main girl who just joined the police force. It's flawed but still a really intriguing show that asks a lot of interesting questions. 6) "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury" --> Sci-Fi, Mecha (giant robots piloted by humans) political, space setting, also heavily focused on complicated and messy female relationships, ending was rushed and clunky but still overall a really good show. 7) "Revolutionary Girl Utena" --> Weird *weird* W E I R D show that is impossible to summarize. Fairytale deconstruction, mind-bending, unexpectedly funny at times, but mostly dark and uncomfortable. I'm actually not really confident that you guys would even enjoy it but I think you will find it fascinating and very engaging. It invites discussion and dissection like no other media I've ever come across. But it's also genuinely not an easy watch so ... 😅

The level of animation drawing has improved considerably in recent years, and I believe that Kyoto Animation(Kyoani) was the forerunner of such a trend.

Not enough Violet Evergarden reactions out there, very pleasantly surprised seeing this! It’s quick, but Gilbert is right beside Hodgins in the stands, looking just as appalled having watched her slaughter those people. Gilbert having died and Gilbert telling Hodgins what to do with Violet are not mutually exclusive. Each time I watch this I appreciate Hodgins more and more. Certainly feels like he cares about her just as much as Gilbert did. Kinda wish Violet recognized that, but Gilbert was first.

For a main female lead I recommend Puella Magi Madoka Magica. All the main characters are female and its about magical girls doing cute things. Totally family friendly.

If Attack on Titan is my favorite anime, Violet Evergarden is probably tied with Death Note for 2nd place. Granted, the reasons for my love of this show are VERY different from the others. This is an emotional journey, a tale of discovering humanity. In short, it is beautiful. I can't wait to see how y'all will react to this wonderful series, because if the past is any indication, you will shed tears as surely as we all have...
The original light novel goes more in depth into Violet's origin. There's an episode where it slightly touches on it and about where she was found. The studio, KyoAni, decided to direct the story that strays away from her origin and make her a bit more human and relatable. It's quite an affective direction, as so many fans are moved by this anime and loves it so much.
This first episode hits like a truck! For animes with female leads, I would recommend: - Yuru Camp / Laid-back Camp (25 epi, skip the live-action or watch it later); - Bocchi the Rock (12 epi); - A Place further than the Universe (13 epi, complete); - Nana (47 epi, incomplete even in the manga, but is my personal favorite) or the two Live-Action Movies (not as great imo, but definitely shorter and a starter); - Chihayafuru (74 epi, incomplete); - Ascendance of a Bookworm (36 epi); - Keep Your Hand Off Eizouken! (12 epi); - The Apothecary Diaries (16 epi, ongoing); - Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (20 epi, ongoing); And these are a few that the cast include well written female characters: - Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life (26 epi); - Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (41 epi, ongoing).

Netflix original series label on anime usually just means they bought the rights to stream it, they did not make Violet Evergarden. Hey Lola and Milena, if you really want more great shows with great female protagonists I really recommend giving Seirei no Moribito a try. I brought this anime up here before but I'll pitch it again because it's such a good show that no one knows about. I honestly think you'll love this show, but I doubt it would ever win a poll since no one seems to know about it. But it has a strong woman (not girl, full on adult) as the lead with a very compeling and unique story. Can't recommend it enough. Also you guys did watch at least 1 anime (ish) show with a female protagonist before: The Legend of Korra! Wednesday is a live action option as well, one of the rare live actions I watched and it was a fun one.

Really hope you watch Fruits Basket one day It's a romance, drama anime with great characters 🌻 It's different to most the animes you watched so far also Haikyuu is a good fun show , no stress only wholesomeness and excitement BUT if you want something dark yet extremely beautiful with amazing characters 86 is amazing ⭐

I think the reason most the recommended shows dont have female protagonists is just due to most the more action/drama oriented anime are shounen or seinen that are aimed at the male demographic. So most the time they have male leads. While shoujo and josei series, which are almost always female leads, probably don't make for the most exciting reactions. But just listening some female led anime I know: Madoka Magica(12 episodes and 2 movies) Kill la Kill(25 episodes though its a bit saucy) Lycoris Recoil(13 episodes) Fruits Basket(but its 63 episodes) Spice and Wolf sort of but its getting a remake next year Snow White With the Red Hair(two seasons but manga still going) Place Further than the Universe(13 episodes) Belle(movie) The Girl Who Leapt Through Time(movie) Ghost in the Shell franchise(movie plus tv shows) Wave Listen to Me(12 episodes) Ascendance of a Bookworm(36 episodes) Plus like any number of romance or slice of life shows but those wouldn't be the best for reactions.

Thinking about it, while I really enjoyed your watch of Cyberpunk, Violet would have been such a great follow up to you finishing Vinland. It’s almost a spiritual successor when it comes to its themes and such. This is going to be such a beautiful journey watching you to experience this.
I've made this connection a few months ago too. If you think about it Thorfinn and Violet have a lot in common, just replace dead dad and looking for the meaning of true strenght with dead major and looking for the meaning of love, and you'll see those two characters are extremely similar.

soundtrack and the animation and the voice actors, really the whole production. But specially, the author of this story! So brilliant and just amazing. Violet Evergarden left a very mark on my life, like for real.
If you want all female cast, I recommend watching „madoka magica“. Its 12 episodes long. So a quick watch, the characters are extremely interesting and complicated.

I've said the same thing in another reaction channel. The Violet Evergarden fandom is notorious for not shutting up about that one episode at every new reaction to it. Let's all just enjoy and let them enjoy one episode at a time, building hype for a given episode will only diminish their experience when the time comes.

You guys then should definitely if you guys aren't already ahead, watch in chronological order. But it's fine iguess to watch them after if someone doesn't say otherwise. It's not needed every single anime but is neat to do so.

Speaking of female-dominant anime, you can consider Bocchi the Rock, which is an amazing music anime. It is quite different from what you’ve watched, including this show. Although currently there is only season 1, the plot is straightforward so you don’t need to remember a lot of stuff to watch the upcoming season 2.

I think it's a great idea to prioritize anime with main female characters. I'd recommend the studio Ghibli movies for that, it's probably the anime studio that knows the best when the subject is female protagonists.

00:41 - 01:00 --> Oooohh have I got a recommendation for you! "The Wheel of Time" is a fantasy show (adapted from book series) with an ensemble main cast of women and men. It's genuinely a treasure trove of complex messy well-written female characters who are given the time and development they deserve. They are individually great already but my favorite thing is how lovingly and complicatedly these women's relationships with each other is written (this applies to the entire cast but I'm highlighting the female relationships in particular since those tend to be underwritten or not given enough time on-screen in a lot of other shows). And not even just between the "heroic" women but their relationships with the female villains is also incredibly dynamic and so interesting! There are two seasons so far and a third is already in production. I really really think you guys would love this show! It has been on my mind for a while now honestly so I'm happy that I finally remembered to recommend it! ^_^
As for anime with female leads, these are some of my favorites that I think you guys would enjoy:
1) "A Place Further Than The Universe" --> four of the most lovable dumbass girls in existence work together to join an expedition to Antarctica. It's funny, heartwarming, laid-back, and so so kind. You WILL adopt these girls and treasure them for life!
2) "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" --> Fantasy world where we follow an Elf who is starting to grapple with her immortality and how that defines her relationship with the passage of time as she's faced with the short fleeting lifespan of the humans she comes to know and connect with. Also laid-back, heartwarming, slow-paced, and generally cozy.
3) "Bocchi The Rock!" --> THE most socially anxious teenager ever learns how to play the guitar and vows to join a band so she can make friends and step out of her bubble. Genuinely laugh out loud funny! Lovable main cast of four and very laid-back. Honestly not sure if this is a show you should watch on the channel since it doesn't really have a lot that inspires deep-dive discussions that I love from you guys (it's very straightforward) BUT I think you should watch it even if just in your own time because it is genuinely great!
4) "Vivy-Fluorite Eye's Song" --> Uhh ... I don't know how to summarize this but like ... Sci-Fi mystery where main girl (who is not human) receives information that something horrible is going to happen in the future so she starts trying to change events in her present to prevent that future. My kind of weird show 🤣
5) "Psycho - Pass" --> Also Sci-Fi mystery in a world where a system that predicts criminal behavior through psychological profiling is in place and we follow our main girl who just joined the police force. It's flawed but still a really intriguing show that asks a lot of interesting questions.
6) "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury" --> Sci-Fi, Mecha (giant robots piloted by humans) political, space setting, also heavily focused on complicated and messy female relationships, ending was rushed and clunky but still overall a really good show.
7) "Revolutionary Girl Utena" --> Weird *weird* W E I R D show that is impossible to summarize. Fairytale deconstruction, mind-bending, unexpectedly funny at times, but mostly dark and uncomfortable. I'm actually not really confident that you guys would even enjoy it but I think you will find it fascinating and very engaging. It invites discussion and dissection like no other media I've ever come across. But it's also genuinely not an easy watch so ... 😅

The level of animation drawing has improved considerably in recent years, and I believe that Kyoto Animation(Kyoani) was the forerunner of such a trend.
I've seen in Reddit if i remember well that soldiers have the same problem that Violet, a lot of them feel without an objective and feel forgotten.
Finally this show. You don't know how much i've been waiting for you to react to this.

It’s quick, but Gilbert is right beside Hodgins in the stands, looking just as appalled having watched her slaughter those people. Gilbert having died and Gilbert telling Hodgins what to do with Violet are not mutually exclusive. Each time I watch this I appreciate Hodgins more and more. Certainly feels like he cares about her just as much as Gilbert did. Kinda wish Violet recognized that, but Gilbert was first.
LM if you want an all-girl character anime I would highly recommend Bocchi the Rock. It’s such a good (short) show!

For a main female lead I recommend Puella Magi Madoka Magica. All the main characters are female and its about magical girls doing cute things. Totally family friendly.

If Attack on Titan is my favorite anime, Violet Evergarden is probably tied with Death Note for 2nd place. Granted, the reasons for my love of this show are VERY different from the others. This is an emotional journey, a tale of discovering humanity. In short, it is beautiful. I can't wait to see how y'all will react to this wonderful series, because if the past is any indication, you will shed tears as surely as we all have...
Omg yes, I was just reminding myself this show exists. It's a really beautiful anime.
The original light novel goes more in depth into Violet's origin. There's an episode where it slightly touches on it and about where she was found. The studio, KyoAni, decided to direct the story that strays away from her origin and make her a bit more human and relatable. It's quite an affective direction, as so many fans are moved by this anime and loves it so much.
Oh my god, I didn't know you were going to watch this. I'm hyped! You are gonna love this show. Prepare your tears 😢

Hey Lola and Milena, if you really want more great shows with great female protagonists I really recommend giving Seirei no Moribito a try. I brought this anime up here before but I'll pitch it again because it's such a good show that no one knows about. I honestly think you'll love this show, but I doubt it would ever win a poll since no one seems to know about it.
But it has a strong woman (not girl, full on adult) as the lead with a very compeling and unique story. Can't recommend it enough.
Also you guys did watch at least 1 anime (ish) show with a female protagonist before: The Legend of Korra!
Wednesday is a live action option as well, one of the rare live actions I watched and it was a fun one.

It's different to most the animes you watched so far also Haikyuu is a good fun show , no stress only wholesomeness and excitement BUT if you want something dark yet extremely beautiful with amazing characters 86 is amazing ⭐

Ooh you're in for really good shows this season if you want female main characters:
Sousou no Frieren: Easily the best show of fall 2023, Frieren is an amazing protagonist and it is fantasy but the fantasy aspect is actually something that matters for Frieren's character
Apothecary Diaries: Maomao is a very smart and adorable character in ancient chinese setting
Sorry for the terrible descriptions, I don't want to spoil anything go blind in these shows especially Frieren

I think the reason most the recommended shows dont have female protagonists is just due to most the more action/drama oriented anime are shounen or seinen that are aimed at the male demographic. So most the time they have male leads. While shoujo and josei series, which are almost always female leads, probably don't make for the most exciting reactions.
But just listening some female led anime I know:
Madoka Magica(12 episodes and 2 movies)
Kill la Kill(25 episodes though its a bit saucy)
Lycoris Recoil(13 episodes)
Fruits Basket(but its 63 episodes)
Spice and Wolf sort of but its getting a remake next year
Snow White With the Red Hair(two seasons but manga still going)
Place Further than the Universe(13 episodes)
Belle(movie)
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time(movie)
Ghost in the Shell franchise(movie plus tv shows)
Wave Listen to Me(12 episodes)
Ascendance of a Bookworm(36 episodes)
Plus like any number of romance or slice of life shows but those wouldn't be the best for reactions.
