KyoAni didn't make just a series, it turned into a piece of art. Ever since I've seen a first single picture, I was hooked. I didn't know anything about it, just a single picture and I knew: "I have to see that!" The whole world feels ... alive. Realistic. A sad beauty to admire.
the saddest thing about this series for me is knowing that 30+ of the people who worked on it, absolute tops in their industry were all killed by that arsonist. :(
@@Ayush-kc2vx in the offchance that you havent researched it yet, the studio behind the series got attacked by a crazy person claimed they have stolen or copied some of his art. He went in one of their buildings and set on fire, resulting in killing many of the artists. what is sad is that the studio was/is one of the better ones in japan, actually giving proper contracts and working conditions to their employess and having the "human first-quality next-money last" philosophy. Compared to other studios like Mappa for example that overwork the artists not giving them proper contracts with health benefits etc. When that happened. people for all over the world donated around $3 million dollars to the Kyoto Animations company, the owner said, we have enough money , everyhting you donate will go to the families of the victims. and since japan had taxes for donations, the congress or whatever is called, held a meeting where they unanimously voted no taxes will be paid for the money. that was a first time ever happening in japan's hostory (i think). such a sad story..
One small thing that's fascinated me ever since I heard of it, similar to Konosuba, the Violet Evergarden team thought it would feel weird if only the main cast had detailed character designs, like in most anime. Because of this, they went out of their way to make every character feel like they actually fit in the world they live in, no matter how insignificant their role in the story is. There's this common meme with most anime, where you can tell who the main character is right away, just by their character design alone. This doesn't apply to Violet Evergarden
Prepare yourself emotionally because the show you just started watching is simply a True Masterpiece. Violet Evergarden is made up of: 13 episodes 1 OVA (must be seen between episode 4 and 5) 1 movie of 2019 (Violet Evergarden: Eternity and auto memory doll) 1 movie of 2020 (Violet Evergarden The Movie) that closes the story.
Coincidentally this series actually premiered as movies, sort of - every batch of 3 episodes were previewed in theaters in Japan before they aired on TV. I bought a limited collector's edition Blu-ray set which includes the theatrical cuts as extras, although they're not really different from the actual episodes, they just have the OPs & EDs removed between episodes so it flows without interruptions. KyoAni can do that since they finished the entire series before it started airing, which is fairly uncommon.
I see a Violet Evergarden video, and I click. Simple as. Haven't finished but wanted to say thanks for giving this show a watch. It's hands-down my favorite series of any medium or genre, ever. The first 3-4 episodes sometimes make people stumble over the pacing but always by the end come away with one of the most sincere and emotionally intense stories about the many kinds of love we can experience, pain that can come with it, and how all of the above is beautiful. I genuinely hope you stick with it and enjoy it enough to watch the movies, too.
Kyoto Animations is the reason why this show is done so well, and looks like the most amazing movie. They're a golden studio. Get ready for an adventure, that is different than what you are used to.
Can't really go wrong with any show from Kyoto. Ya got Full Metal Panic!, Clannad, K-On!, "Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions", Tamako Market, Sound! Euphonium, and interestingly enough Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid too.
You're going to have to stock up on the tissue boxes my friend for this series, as almost every episode will have you teary eyed, with the exception of a few that'll have you bawling ❤
Oh WOW, finally it's time for you to react to this anime! Personally, if I have to describe this anime, it's like the embodiment of "Beautiful". S-tier art and animation, every frame can be a wallpaper. The last anime I've watched that probably came close to this was Takt op. Destiny, but I still think Violet Evergarden is a level above.
Violet Evergarden, both the character and the anime/manga, can be described in just a single word: PERFECT Violet Evergarden, "MY" beautiful battle doll of death and destruction, grins :D

@@Ayush-kc2vx Since I watch a lot of both subbed and dubbed I can tell you that if you watch nothing but subbed, then the dubs will sound completely wrong because English sounds different than Japanese and there isn't anything that a dub can do about that. It's fine to not like dubs and sure there are plenty of dubs that aren't very good (D4DJ), but it's nowhere near 90%. Dubs won't improve if people don't accurately critique the bad ones (or bad parts) and instead just say basically "all dubs are bad."

There is another problem dubs that i noticed whenever an anime gets a dub they mostly remove all references to the Japanese culture and other thing is voice actors for dub mostly won't able to give characters same level of personality and emotions as the original. So I guess 90% is the best way to put it. There are good dubs out there but they are rare. Well i always suggest everyone for first time experience whether it's an anime, TV shows or movie watch it in orginal language.

It's not my top 1, but if there was one anime I could force everyone on the planet to watch, it's Violet Evergarden. Nothing compares to the quality and emotion in every single aspect. The characters are relatable and likable, the animation is immaculate, the story is heartfelt and well written, the voices hold so much weight and emotion, and the music is PERFECT. There is nothing about this anime to not like in my opinion.
Violet Evergarden is one of the top 5 greatest anime of my life, along with Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. The OVA and movies are also great. Please enjoy this most vivid and beautiful story.

One of the few anime I actually like the dub more. This show was amazing I can’t wait to see his reaction to the second half of this show with it’s nonstop depression EPs.
For the record, the English dub is fantastic as well… but in JP Violet’s voice is Yui Ishikawa, and it’s like the role was written for her (not that Erika Harlacher didn’t do an incredible job as well).
A tragic incident occurred while an animation production company was working on "Violet Evergarden. The perpetrators opened fire and both the creators and valuable materials were lost. This is inexcusable.

this series feels premium from beginning to the end. the studio was Kyoto Animation before that tragic arson incident so the quality is top notch 👍
