While the Copa Sense is technically Adidas' answer to Nike's Tiempo line, even they know that the two lines aren't really comparable. Which explains their latest release, priced at the same $230 as the Legend 9 Elite, the Adidas Copa Icon!

This is the direction I hoped they’d go in because I really liked the Copa 18.1. Shame they didn’t execute the idea very well.

Weird. When these dropped on the Adidas US site they were $180 and online retailers have these for the $230 that you mentioned.
i played Vapors for the last 10 years , today i played the first time in these and they are insane !! the touch is perfect and the comfort is amazing. the soleplate gives you a very nice boost for fast turns etc. nothing wrong with these boots

Perfect boots for hard work player, run, tackle, win the ball, pass, run, shoot.
I think im going to absolutely love these. Finally a chunky boot with extra padding. Im being waiting years for a boot like these. Hate all the paper thin boots nowadays. Looks like adidas have gone all out to make a purely comfort boot. Will probably be used mostly by referees and management staff. These look way better than the nike premier and the teimpo i hate the tongue on the teimpo and love that you said the icon has memory foam in the tongue I'm actually excited about these boots

I couldn’t find the Tiempo Elite in stock. I’ve used Copa Mundials for the last 6 year’s amazing. But wanted something that was a little more modern. Ended up going with Diadora Brazil Elites LT 12. Great boots for the price and calf leather.
Any plans to do a review on the ‘classic pack’ copa icon? Its cow leather, would like to know your input on it.

The Tiempo 9s are one of my favorite boots I’ve ever owned, I believe you made a correct decision with the tiempos

I had adidas x from 2019, then one from 2021(2019 were way better btw) and I wanted to try thicker comfier boots? So would you recommend latest tiempo legend 9 for mostly turf surface?
Get turf boots for turf or ag for ag. Do not get fg boots

Why wouldn’t you just take the original COPA and put a better soleplate and remove some of its volume
Tried these on in store and cannot like them as much as I wanted too. Looks great but the chunkiness is just a no. Leather isn’t as good as the OG too.

Correction: this boot is NOT with K-leather. This boot uses cow leather.
I'm kind of perplexed as to why they gave these the Copa name at all. They took a fairly simple leather upper and paired with an existing soleplate/stud pattern from another model in their lineup. Sure sounds like an Adipure to me!
Yea bringing back the Adipure line would hype me uppppp. But from a logistical standpoint Copa has a bigger crowd to the name.

These are bulkier than any adiPure or recent Copa Mundial modern remakes. It’s a weird boot in general.

These shouldn't be competing with the tiempo. They should be trying to compete with the premiers
these boots are excellent however they do not seem reliable long term wise and quality seems a bite off has well other then hat they are perfect for me.
Would you say these have a more aggressive traction than Tiempo 10 fgs on fg? Been looking for something like this; thick leather with aggressive soleplate and a decent lockdown, kinda like a modern copa mundial which i used a lot in the past but feels too clunky and slippery today.
Icon FG also retails for 190€ here but currently is discounted to 125€. Could it replace the Tiempo 10 elites i wonder.
More aggressive in terms of traction, not quite, but also not far off. I wouldn’t say that lockdown is necessarily a strong aspect of these boots either. Maybe take a look at the New Balance 442 V2 Pro

The overall design is excellent and adidas should just keep this new boot for sale all the time instead of making new designs like the tiempo. If Adidas just shaved a tiny bit of the bulkiness they would be the perfect boot style and fit wise.

Looks like a mizune morelia “that you love so much” 💶💶💶, but with a way better sole plate.
Also at the beginning you said that unlike anything out there…… nike premier? Half of the price. Non japn made morelia 140ish, the gold leather new balance on your back shelf mmmm 180ish… my point is that there are plenty better options out there (just like it).
The copa.2 are actually better than all for 120 minus discounts on previous color ways.
And they should really focus on making more of those leather F50 limited released those are by far the best cleats i ever had.
These are nowhere near the MIJ or even regular Morelia. Looks can be deceiving. No doubt they compare in a lot of ways to the Premier, but given the very specific $230 price tag, I think it’s very fair to compare them to the Legends at the same price.

Plus all the boots you mentioned in your second paragraph are more modernized leather boots, these are more old school style, only boot that compare are Premier and the Copa Mundial but considering the price of these it isn’t fair to compare these to the other ones

The copa icon is NOT made from k-leather, it’s made from a thick cow leather and it is very disappointing. I got my pair in yesterday and will sending them back

Here’s my take for this. As someone from California and sites stating a it’s cow leather. It’s safe to assume Adidas is going for the California market where we can’t purchase K-leather shoes because of the ban. Granted some takedown models have cow leather as well, but not a “high end” model.
Australian here, the ban on kangaroo leather is so fucking stupid lol - we eat the animals, it’s literally a waste not to use the hides - kangaroos are not even remotely threatened, and hunting quotas are regulated, just bizarre
They are more environmentally friendly than cows and a more durable material as well…the alternative to k leather is what petrochemical plastic which is toxic and doesn’t break down? And factory farm hides…lol

I can’t even think of a demographic this trash boot is targeted towards. OG Adidas leather fan like me would never buy this over a pair of Copas, and would 100% buy Tiempo (including take downs) over this. It’s pretty clear Adidas thinks making legitimate leather boots don’t have enough margin for them to maintain these days. Imagine them putting as much effort into a serious and consistent leather line as they do Pred remakes. It would be an instant success, if you ask me.
