Revsiting this video to make sure people know you should go down 1/2 to even 1 full size down from what you normally wear. Im usually an 8US and i would probably go down to a 7.5 US after seeing all the community feedback 🙏
For anyone interested in getting these, you 100% need to go down a full size, otherwise the leather will overstretch like crazy. Even if the boot fits true to size to start, the leather is almost too forgiving and will overstretch. I wear 8.5 in everything (vapors, speedflows, tiempo legends, etc) and for these 7.5 was best. Recommend these for wide footers but narrow footed folks will find these good too.
oh wow that's a great tip, thanks for sharing!! I normally wear a size 8 US and these fit great in a size 8 US. I can't imagine going down even half a size. So were the first few weeks of wear rough going down a full size?
@@soccerkicksofficial they were tight but give it a week or two, they leather will stretch. It’s like no other boots out there. It can stretch a full size easily. The turfs I would recommend down a half size only cuse of the rubber toe. But this boot, yeah man easily a full size will work great haha
I had both Copa Mundial & Kaiser 5 ... I wish they made a boot with a Copa toe box on a Kaiser body. Full K leather makes Copa upper slide around over the sole plate. The cowhide Kaiser provides excellent stability....and it's an amazing boot in its own right. If I had to buy again, I'd go for the Kaiser.
I also wear a size 8 US in every other Adidas shoe (and every other shoe)m but with these the size 8 was way too big, and I had to return and reorder a size 7 US. Also, a trick I learned from another Copa Mundial fan was once I got my size 7 US, I put them on and then put them in a warm bath for 15-20 minutes, then stuffed the upper with newspaper and let them dry. The result was as close as one can get to custom-fitted boots. Best boots I ever had. Good video, though, and will be hitting the subscribe button. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks Tony! Yes, great to hear you found the perfect fit - I didn't realize Copa sizing was all over the place for everyone. The water trick is a great one if you wanna speed up break in time. I'm old school so I simply wear them for a few weeks in practices before games 😅
Bro, I'm 55 years old. At this age, we don't have trainings lol. We're lucky to still be able to run and play soccer at a high level. So I didn't have the luxury of time to allow for natural break-in. Looking forward to your next video.
My coach/trammate is 71 and can still kick ass. Many others over 60. I'm continually amazed at these guys. They keep me on my toes. Needless to say, Copa Mundials is the most popular boot with our demographic, but being in California, which had outlawed k-leather boots for some reason, forces us to be creative about acquiring them.
@Tony Golan that's a really cool group! Yeah the whole anti k-leather movement is frustrating I imagine if it affects you getting cleats you really like 🤔
Honestly if you find something you really like and you're happy with the price point then I say keep it going! Nothing wrong with getting the same boot over and over again 👊
@@LandonLewis2244 yes, they're a great buy especially for that price point. These have withstood the test of time with minor changes over the years because they truly are well made. What do you usually wear if you don't mind me asking?
Regarding size, you are completely mistaken. They run one full size bigger than the size you normally wear. So, if you are a US size 8, you should get a US size 7.
good point! I was told by several people that they go half size down to a full size down and that seems fair. I can't imagine going a full size down but I'm sure squeezing into a 7.5US would be nice after they stretch a bit.
I found them to be a little narrow but the material allows for wide feet to be okay. Yes, it would have pill over on the sides if your feet are moderately wide.
I need help with how to care for the Copa Mundials after different types of weather. For instance, we play in the rain a lot and the leather over a short time will dry and peel away from sole and becomes hardened. What products should I use to clean and condition leather? Also, after rainy matches, how to dry and prevent the mold and mildew too please and thank you!
this is a really good question and I'm sure a lot of people struggle with it! I had a similar issue myself with my Umbro Speciali. Things I do with leather cleats when they get wet: 1) never store them in a dark place, that's how mildew will happen. Leave them outside in the sun to dry out. 2) place newspaper or paper towels inside them so that more of the moisture is sucked in. 3) leather cream isn't necessary for boots nowadays but it does help a little and keeps them looking next to new Hopefully this helps out! I should probably make a video on this 😅
Morelia Neo IV are much better in my opinion. HOWEVER, they are very different. The Neos offer a more snug fit since they're more of a speed boot and the Mundials give you comfort more than anything. Both have round studs and are k-leather, although the Mundial soleplate is a little less aggressive and has thicker leather. You jn between getting either?
@@soccerkicksofficial yes I am a bit on the fence I’ve watched the rest of your mizuno reviews and I’m pretty much sold. The only thing I’m still wondering is how they feel when you strike the ball. Also which generation of the Morelia would you say is the best one between the 2 3 and 4.
@rubencamarena8130 I know Mizuno can be a little daunting since they're expensive but I've never heard of anyone having a bad experience. They are top notch and thats why the price is so hefty! If you're in the market for a pair, I would go with a Neo 3 as there's not a lot that has changed and you can get them closer to $200 as opposed to $300. I lean more towards the regular Neo as opposed to Beta since they're more comfortable too! This all make sense?
What size should I purchase if I want to add my own insole on top ? I currently wear 10.5 US and since you mentioned they need a update soleplate how is the grip? I like to sprint a lot(winger) Thanks!
I would stick to true to size but if your insole is very thick maybe a half a size up wouldn't hurt since they are a bit narrow. Just keep in mind the k-leather does stretch nice so I would lean on a tighter fit to start since it'll stretch nicely.
Leather wax always help protect leather so I would always recommend it! You don't have to do it but it's a great step to take care of your cleats and potentially extend their life a bit more 👍
I would stay at a size 10 then because these stretch quite a bit. I went true to size but a ton of my followers have let me know thankfully that you should go down half a size!
@@soccerkicksofficial Can I ask something again? I have the kaiser 5 liga and they are brand new. I will wear them today on a good astro field. Will it last more than the copas because of the cow leather instead of the k-leather upper?
@@labrosffplayer8217 probably won't be a big difference honestly! K-leather has always been king but durability wise I don't foresee there being a lot more life to them.
Mmh I would use AG cleats whenever possible. If you need to use FG cleats on an AG surface, then go with something that has conical short studs. These have conical studs but studs are a little long. Either way, better to use these over FG cleats with blades. Hope this helps!
I personally played a game on AG with these cleats and felt like I was somewhat “sliding” on the field I’m guessing because the flat part on the studs. I now use the puma future 1.4 fr/ag and feel great playing on ag fields.
@Ivan Lopez that's a good move. There are also AG specific plates (mostly sold in Europe) for Puma cleats versus the FG/AG plate they sell here in the US which is the best option in my opinion 🤔
As an ex-pro, don’t listen to the nonsense about going down a full size. I must’ve had 12 pairs of Copa’s over the years. Go down half a size at most. The K leather stretches brilliantly and will shape round your foot, so any stretching is limited to your foot size making “overstretching” next to impossible unless you’re wearing two pairs of socks or something.
An updated sold plate would absolutely ruin a classic boot. As they are, the big toe & pinky toe overhang the outsole....giving them first contact with the ball. Modern sole plates wrap up around whatever material the upper is made of. Otherwise the sole & upper would not be able to be attached at all. The modern boot is little more than a plastic chopping board when it comes to first contact with the ball.
this is actually a great point I didn't think about. You're right - the way the soleplate is constructed, it definitely helps with contact. But don't you think that is more on the upper construction and less so on the soleplate?
I'd say no - my feet run narrow and they fit me pretty snug. If you want something similar, I'd recommend the New Balance 442 v2. That boot has a regular variation, which I found to be pretty wide, and they also offer a wide variation 👍
It's not bad - but if you plan to wear boots mostly on turf I highly recommend an AG pair. If you really need to get an FG pair, go with rounded studs which these have!
