ELP are "veterans of Prog Rock" and their songs cover an incredible range. From fun songs to beautiful ballads (like this song), songs with a classical touch, epic works to "experimental chaos". Greg Lake's ballads certainly appealed to a wider audience, but if you want to discover the full diversity of ELP, it's best to listen to the whole album.

Emerson came back from the pub and Lake and palmer had cinished the recording so he listened to it and added his keyboardss to the end.
He was a pioneerof synths. Alot of his stuff is very elaborate. He liked to tip oover and wreak his Hamond organ.

This bands range of diversity in musical approach is wide. Classic’s like this; then densely packed rocking synthesized Karn Evil 9 off their Brain Salad Surgery album. You have just scratched the surface of the best prog band ever formed.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer/Lucky Man. This song was their biggest hit in the USA.

When people think of ELP the song Lucky Man comes to mind, but this treasure is just as good if not better.

Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas (Original Version - 4K Restored). You may want to add this classic to your Christmas songs reaction list.

I believe you have to take the song as it is. At the time this was called Progressive Rock. The second part of the song you call “techno” is really just the synthesizer, which was being used more and more in pop and rock songs at that time. ELP consisted of three excellent musicians. One on guitar, one on percussion, and one on keyboards. Equal time for equal talents in the song, perhaps.

Try the Barbarian from debut album to get a taste of their range.
