    G'day everyone! It has been a long time between drinks so thanks for sticking around! Huuuuge thanks to Rod for coming to the rescue in getting the XW back on the road! The fix has worked beautifully but I now have an ICE ignition system on my shopping list. Hope you enjoy! Cheers - Marc

      G'day Glenn! Yeah was nice to have a video where there was no stuff ups (aside from the initial kaboom). Rod is a ripper - that shed is amazing! Just needs a couple of project cars to fill it up! Cheers mate and hope you are well!

    If you have a high volume or high pressure oil pump installed... replace it with a standard one. I had roll pin shearing and excessive gear wear issue on my Cleveland in the past. It happened three times within about 3k miles. I removed the high volume pump and installed a standard one. It has not happened since and that was about 17-18 years ago now.

      G'day Mike! Nah she is a standard oil pump - I have the build sheet from the original owner and its just a normal one (it's a pretty mild build overall). Good to know about the issues with the high volume ones - seems like you have a pretty rough time with yours all those years ago! But 18 years trouble free sounds fantastic! Cheers mate, thanks for watching and for the info!!

    we went thru 3 of those dizzies in the span of a year. The electronics inside failed in all of them. Upgraded to a FAST unit...no issues since.

      @MeatballGarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      G'day Job1bf - Fairdinkum? 3 of them stuff up in 12 months? That is pretty poor and some bad luck too! I have had 10 years out of mine until it did this so am feeling slightly better about life now! Was the FAST unit just the controller or include a Dizzy as well? Cheers mate!

      G'day mate! Cheers! Yeah I hear ya with going back to what is simple, especially if it just works and sounds like you got your mate out of trouble@ I still reckon i'll end up with something a bit more beefy down the track though. Cheers mate!

    Tuning my Cleveland at the moment. Have changed to manifold vacuum which pulls another 18 degrees at idle so with 12 initial it's at 30 degrees idling. Seem ok and gives a complete burn as have always had sooty plugs till now. The theory goes that the vacuum advance reduces on acceleration with no vacuum load leaving you with just mechanical.

    • @MeatballGarage
      @MeatballGarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      G'day Roger! Ahh the old ported vs manifold vac source for the dizzy debate! I reckon this is engine dependant. Mine already idles at about 900rpm with ported (i.e. no vac advance) going through the dizzy. Any more timing and she will be screaming at idle! You are right in that as soon as you put your foot down your vac will decrease and hence your timing will as well - I have read that sometimes that might produce a stumble off idle but if you are all good and it works then happy days!
      How did your car behave before you made that change? Cheers mate!

      G'day Ken! To be fair this one has lasted 10 years so it's not all bad - in hindsight I should have just bought the whiz bang ICE or 6AL set up - the Aussie $$ was much better then too so would have been way cheaper. Ah well you live and learn. Hope you enjoyed the video mate! Cheers!

      @MeatballGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      G'day Bill - did you watch to the end? She is pointing at the rad now instead of fouling against the radiator hose. Either way - we got it going again which was the most important thing. Cheers mate!

    Rods a great bloke. contact Summit for a refund, they generally pretty good. Plus you would have lost oil pressure a split second.

      @MeatballGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      G'day mate! Absolutely - Rod got me out of a sticky situation indeed! As far as a refund from Summit - the dizzy is over 10 years old so might be pushing it - still i'll have a look at their website and see what they say. Thanks for the tip! Cheers mate and hope you enjoyed the vid!
