Just found out about the witcher series after checking out witcher 3...my mind is blown on how the hell i missed out all this time...better late than never i suppose lol
Thats ironic, because for me, when i just finished witcher 1 and started witcher 2 I left lack of that atmosphere feeling witcher 1 had. Graphics looked to sharp, but i still got accustomed to it later xD
Witcher 2 compared to the rest of games is different. It's more like Game of Thrones Geopolitical Warfare between the kingdoms of the Continent. That's what makes it interesting for a story replay after all these years, for me and even more for you.
Yeah no game does politics better than TW2..there were so many interesting factions, so much intrigue etc. I love TW3 too but it was a shame the politics were dumbed down
I'm playing The Witcher trilogy for the first time. After about a week, I already finished the first game (WHICH I LOVED), and now I'm about to start the 2nd one! SO EXCITED!
I love the realism and beautiful graphics of Witcher 3, but the artistry and style of Witcher 2 was something special and magical. The graphic novel flashback scenes, the cut-scene animations and narration graphics, characters design, and walking around Flotsam in the woods even today is mesmerizing!! such amazing atmosphere! and what a badass trailer with metal tunes!!
@sandroGT77 Oh it can take it. The 9800gt is just an optimized (actually more just tweaked) version of an 8800 gt and that card is generally used as the base spec which is about between minimum and recommended settings.
@PaBLo99215 In the Love & Blood Trailer they use two pieces of The Witcher 2 soundtrack: It starts with: 23. The End Is Never The Same Then about 1:00 another: 15. For A Higher Cause
@Szaby1234 Its a song specifically made for the game. The one used in the trailer is made up of a bunch of different songs. But its mostly "The end is never the same".
Fenristripplex i know that each path has its own scenes but some of them here look like they are/should be in the prologue, and i know i didnt skip any cutscenes. so maybe it was either cut from the game or i didnt talk to enough people
Lward96 yes there is that, although i remember spending as much time as i had in order to do anything and verything that i could possibly do. but anyway, the game was amazing, so the few cutscenes in this video dont bother me at all
@sandroGT77 Did you try setting your card's threaded optimization? The games multi core detector sucks and the engine uses up a lot of CPU if you ask it to. That should pump out a few more frames and consistency if you have a quad or something comparable. Even then your right 9800gt stretching it when I tested it. With a 9800gt and a Pentium D with my old computer I drew about 23fps on 1024x768 on minimum-ish.
@mily357 I don't know. Oblivion's main issues were menus, graphics, animations, a cohesive story, and an awkward chat system, and uninteresting lore. we already know that the graphics, chat system, menus, animations, and more have been drastically improved for skyrim so it is up there.
i was making progress in the first game so i could start this one then i somehow got 1 hit KO'd in a fist fight...since when was that possible?! now i gotta wait longer to play tw2...
This cover/logo was sweet, hard to forget, though it took me a second to remember the name. Baldur's Gate, Diablo (the original good ones), Neverwinter Nights, I love those games. So you've been around the D and D block too. OK, peace then.
read the wiki or better yet, play the game. The books are a good source of info on the world too. (yes, it has an entire line of fantasy novels and short stories)
@CJ2GAME i agree bro, i assembled my computer, it was actually not that expensive and all my games run on full settings, and when you count the number of times you do economies with pc games rather than console games! plus some have free expansions on PC and of course the modding cummunity. I have an Xbox 360 and i do enjoy, games like gears of wars 3 or Halo but PC is honestly one of the best ways to go
@BloomRR .... Have you played the Witcher 2? Hold your hand throughout? I guarantee if you played it you did/would have some trouble getting to grips with everything considering the tutorial is very limited, which to some is a bad thing although I had no problem. Also, Demon's Souls? I love that game, in fact it was my GOTY 2009. But, the game isn't that hard, sorry. And Skyrim has not been shown enough but so far what I've seen isn't convincing.
@goidfiog I've read on gamespot that if you download the game from CDprojekt's own GOG.com you can bypass the Aussie censorship and play the US or European versions, you may want to check that out
Truly the best game I ever played this is not just a video game, It has soul in it... Just finished the game, I can't wait for The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt but before that, I'm going to read all the novels Geralt of Rivia...greatest swordsman in North......your Legend never Ends...
@Vaprous And modding is one of most important reason, why I play on PC. For me (mouse+kboard lover) SkyUI/QDInventory is "must have" for Skyrim and there is dozens of mods to improve your gameplay (fix many glitches, add contents). Too bad for TW2(one of the best game in years IMO), is not to many mods for this game, but this is different kind of RPG, absolutly not worse, but different kind.
I definitely look forward to trying this series out, but as far as decision driven games go, I think you'd be impressed with Mass Effect 1-3. Sure it is more mainstream, but decisions from the very first mission of the first game effect scenarios in the 2nd and 3rd. Crazy stuff.
The way I see it, The Witcher is like the Elder Scrolls, but looks better, is more mature (in pretty much every sense) and has a much better story. I already own Skyrim, so that's why I got the Witcher 2.
I fully supported the first game for its original take on the fantasy environment, praised the book Last Wish for fleshing out a world with its own lore and bleak outlook of the fantasy realm. Now I'm going to bow before Witcher 2 as it makes RPG of the Year.
It maybe havn't outsold Skyrim, but still it was one of the most sold games in 2011 which was a huge achivment. Selling over 1 million copies in a short period of time, only on the PC.
@CastleOnFire I've watched a playthrough of a guy doing The Witcher 2, and he didnt play the first one either (i havent played or seen the first), and i was just as lost as he was in the beginning. SOME of the plot is gone over and described, so you wouldnt be completely lost, but there would be a lot of stuff you wouldnt understand. I suggest playing the first one, you can find it on Steam for like 14$ and its the Enhanced Edition Director's Cut too. But, after all, its you're choice.
@UnwillingOrigins That should still exist on Steam long after release in the digital edition. I just bought my copy on Steam, I did it now cause I got it at pre-order price and the game is out in 3-4 days. I am kind of hoping for pre-load soon, so I can have it all downloaded and ready for the unlock time.
@WillyWallace100 Exactly. You got that spot on. Skyrim although good in its own respects. Does not have an indulging story line whatsoever which is something that an RPG should essentially be based on (role play) part of the rpg.
@mily357 Why compare the two? Just play both and enjoy both Skyrim and the Witcher 2. We have been blessed with the fact that they are released so far between each other so we get plenty of time to play both games. These two games and Arkham City and maybe LA Noire will be on my to-buy list.
My pc will handle it ^^ i72600k, SLI GTX 580, 16 GB RAM, I bought it for this game only! Witcher 1 was a masterpiece, and its not a shame to buy new pc for the next chapter! It will be awesome!
It's interesting to see how Red has improved their trailers over the years. The later ones are spectacular, great music, flawless editing. This one is good, but weaker and doesn't pack a punch. I'm so proud to see a developer grow, not only when it comes to games, but in aspects around games as well.
@mily357 Those who look to the past are sure to miss the future. Just because you 'think' Oblivion was bad, first off doesnt mean it was, secondly at the time is was a very good game: decent story, plenty of game time and some replayability. However, Skyrim will be on a whole new level and is a different game. The Witcher 2 is described as a 'mature' game which means it will be more developed and complex. Where as the elder scrolls series is more casual and simple, it is still a lot of fun.
Does anybody know if I'll still be able to get the premium content (guide, manual, soundtrack, the making of, map, etc). Even after release date, as I cannot pre order the game
You see, witcher has somehing that other games can only dream about. It's storyline is so real, so uncenzored, so emotional and just... like a good Sapkowski book... it is feelable game, gamers just get into the skin of the witcher. The atmosphere is just the key of witchers succes.
Can't wait for this game to come out on xbox my pc could not run it. This game by the sounds if it will be my second favorite game behind mass effect 2/3
@bart8211 In addition if your saying the games are crappy just because they are on the pc and aren't visually gorgeous as console games, I give you that, but pc games have the advantage of unlimited content from modding communities, substance over style, so really the pick is between how great the game looks when you play it once, or how long you play it ......
i played it on release (xbox), BEST GAME EVER no i seriously mean it, or at least best game this gen. i played it twice with almost all achievements feel like putting the disc in and play it again. from story to combat to characters to environment to voice acting. i cant wait for more games from cdprojekt so looking forward to cyberpunk and especially witcher 3
Lets sum this game up... -Best graphics of any game, ever (maybe with the exception of crysis) -Best gameplay/combat of any game ever -Best story of any game ever -best characters of any game ever -Most decision driven game ever (your decisions REALLY effect hoe the game plays out) -Three massive hub zones -All DLC FREE -100+ hours of content In all fairness, this is the greatest game ever made.
Without a doubt, one of the (if not the single) greatest game I've ever played. This is fantasy a fantasy RPG that doesn't sacrifice quality for quantity. A incredible story that has plot twists which cut like a knife. Combat that is in depth and gets better over time, as if the player is learning a martial art. And dialogue sequences that rival Bethesda's best work. CD Project Red has created a truly epic masterpiece.
@Essefen Sorry, but your wrong there, The Witcher 2 uses the latest technology from the PC hardware, which outscores every console to date, don't be fooled by one trailer, because if you know that much, the FPS drops when you record something in-game, that means, they had to lower the graphics a bit to run the trailer smoothly. This games has even a huge open world, with top notch background graphics ( like mountains, etc. ), sorry, but there's no console game that can do that...
You are spot on. Lesser developers such as Bethesda cannot compete with the standards of quality that Treyarch and Infinity Ward have. Certain lesser gamers fail to realize which game tops the pre-order charts every year -- that game is Call of Duty.
Just found out about the witcher series after checking out witcher 3...my mind is blown on how the hell i missed out all this time...better late than never i suppose lol
Deathx Kinslayer Letho in TW2 is one of the best villain ever.
+we@'n why can't i kill her?
same. I just got the Witcher 3, thinking it was the first one... Lol I'm new to the gaming world
It was the same for me mate 😁😁😁😁

HashBrown Kickman G?
Your reply man was a history man already finished it xD
As someone who just finished witcher 1 for the first time this looks amazing.
I'm replaying the trilogy from the first game. Currently playing TW2 and the graphics already blew me away. Can't wait to play the 3rd.
I can only imagine
Thats ironic, because for me, when i just finished witcher 1 and started witcher 2 I left lack of that atmosphere feeling witcher 1 had. Graphics looked to sharp, but i still got accustomed to it later xD

I'm playing The Witcher trilogy for the first time. After about a week, I already finished the first game (WHICH I LOVED), and now I'm about to start the 2nd one! SO EXCITED!
Have fun, TW2 has the best story of the series

The graphic novel flashback scenes, the cut-scene animations and narration graphics, characters design, and walking around Flotsam in the woods even today is mesmerizing!! such amazing atmosphere! and what a badass trailer with metal tunes!!

Story for Witcher 2.
One of the best games Ever Created
Just
Chills! Is witcher 2 worth playing after witcher 3 anyone?
thats exactly what im looking for, the lore. thanks a lot mate
You should even play The Witcher 1 if you need more witcher games. Story is equally good, but just bear with the weird combat and voice acting.
@sandroGT77 Oh it can take it. The 9800gt is just an optimized (actually more just tweaked) version of an 8800 gt and that card is generally used as the base spec which is about between minimum and recommended settings.

true ;), i dont understand why people hate at all, I mean, what are they going to do about it?

I can't stop it at the spot where there's all that words at the end!!!
after seeing this after finishing the game i feel like i missed a couple of cutscenes that i feel should have been on the path i was doing.
