This is a great video! When I purchased my 75 g the 60 breeder was just becoming popular. I love my 75 g but I am short and the step stool is a must have. Nice job on this comparison. I am sure it will be helpful for those trying to choose😊
I love the 60 breeder for fish that tend to stay in the lower half of the tank so I don’t have to see an empty top half or try to find fish to fill that upper half like in a 75.
If I'm getting a 4t tank it's going to be another 120. But between the two, a 75. But.... I think a 60 would be easier to aquascape quickly. Plants will fill up the back much more quickly and look "grown in" and mature faster. ❤ Great video.
Great video. But if I had a choice and the money I would always Choose a 75 gallon over a 60 gallon Breeder extra 15 gallons and height. I can tell you does make a difference. But the 60 gallon breeder I think is a great tank too.
We made tank stand using your plans, 60 brd on top and 40 brd on bottom. Looks good in terms of tank sizes. Full grown angels are not that happy in a 60brd though, so do consider stocking options. It is a really nice size as a FULLY stocked nano tank: tetras, Cory, loaches, couple pleco, and gourami
I love my 60 breeder simply for the set up that I wanted, which was a shallow riverbed built around my hillstream loaches and some small schooling fish up top. My goal was a tank that I could enjoy just as much looking down on as looking from the sides, so it was perfect. Plus, maintenance is definitely easier without all that height. But if I were going for a standard community tank with lots of stocking options, I'd go for the 75 😊
No brainer for me. The bigger the tank the better as long as you have space and can handle the wt. Perhaps for breeding the 60 is best because those tanks are generally not aquascaped and can be stacked easier. Good video with many valid points. Thanks for sharing.
I like the 60 breeder for one of the things you mentioned, weight. I live in a manufactured home, hence no concrete slab. That 150 pound weight differential is a major factor. I can have Pleco's on the bottom and Rainbowfish in the middle without problems. Just works better for me.
Thought I would like the 60br because I have several 40 brs. When I finally got one ( weren't 50% off for a while) , I discovered that I liked the 75 dimensions more. 60br now is used to grow my nano orchids and seedlings, for which it is ideal. Maybe for a shellie or cory tank
Basically the 60 gallon is 56 cents cheaper per gallon based on the pricing you gave. And my pet supply aquarium stand fits a 55 (which i have) or a 75 gallon, which means a 60 would fit the stand perfectly.😊
I was limited for height so I have a 60 over my 75. The rack works great because they have the same footprint. The contrast of these two on the same shelf is cool too. A 60 breeder looks more like a shallow river scape.
I always love your vids very informative and I enjoy the way you get to the point and don’t faff around but could you give us the measurements and volume in cm and litre please my brain doesn’t convert these quickly and I end up missing information whilst trying to do math thanks
Just a heads-up. Check your local custom tank builder for 60 breeders if you have a hard time finding one. I was able to get a custom rimless 60 breeder with glass lids and eurobrace for less money than the big brand 60 breeder.
@melk.9425 , many benefits to a deeper substrate , especially if you do a dirted substrate with 1 inch of organic soil and 2+ inches of sand. Google deep aquarium substrate but the taller tank will give more room for the deep substrate and the water column which fish like Angels will appreciate.
My issue with these short tanks, like the 60 breeder and the 50 lowboy, is my height. I'm no longer a young man, and I don't want to be bent over to see what I have in there. That's also why I don't do teirs anymore. Or one of the reasons, at least, but those aren't relative to this discussion.
I have a 65 gallon and I did love it at the start but I'm learning that 3ft wide and 2 ft tall is not the most ideal for my fish as left to right just isn't long enough but they do really like the height. Also gives it a small pond impression as it's so deep and tall
I have plans to build two of the 60 breeder tank, without realizing that they are tanks that are widely produced. I would prefer 75 instead of the 60, but I live in the Caribbean, and getting tanks of those sizes shipped is very expensive. Also, the glass to build the 75 is not readily available on island, so I have to choose the 60 breeder.
I prefer the 60 for a few of the same reasons you prefer the 75. I like the visual aspect of a shorter tank. I don't use much hardscape and my crypts fill in a 60 much better than a 75.
Good video. I'm a 75 devotee, though. A healthy man, or a two fit women can easily lift and place it, and I just like a bigger viewing window! Respect to anyone with a 60 breeder, though!
Eventually, I will be moving my three adorable blood parrots to a larger tank. They reside in a 40 gallon breeder tank as they grow. I’m on the fence about a 75 gallon vs 60. I’m planning on adding a couple angelfish with the BPs when I get them moved. What would you advise to comfortably house all of them, 75 or 60? Thanks!
Top brace on my 55 just broke. I'm going to pick up a 60 gallon. They are on sale 50% off! I always wished my 55 was shorter so maintenance was easier.
I looked at the 75 gallon and actually bought a 90 gallon tank as I wanted my height for my Angelfish and plants. In the future depending on the height I will decide on a 60 or 75 for the lower rack of the tubular stand. I will weigh which is easier to clean vs have extra gallons. For the dimensions 90 all the way.
@ralfpilz5960 I have a 90 gallon land hermit crab tank in my room with a 65 gallon 3ft long 2ft tall and a 20g long fish tanks. If I upgrade the 65 ever I think i like the 90 for the same reasons angelfish so tall lol.
My debate is between 75 and 90 (and actually a local fish store has a 110 with the same footprint, but that would be a pain to reach in to). The biggest thing I’m curious about is stands. Most of the nicer looking ones, such as the Nate and Jeremiah stands at Petsmart say that they’re for “up to 75 gallons”. I’m wondering if that’s an actual weight limit or just because Petsmart doesn’t sell 90’s, and it’s less confusing for people to match numbers.
Hey man, big fan of the channel for a long time now but I need help. I have 5 mbuna cichlids in my fish tank and they have been doing really well however today i went up to the tank and they were very skittish and ran away from me. They usually never do this to me considering i interact with them every couple of hours throughout the day. When they run away they go to 1 corner of a tank all together and they are grouped up. I dont know if i should be scared or not or if this is normal for these fish, please help? I will also mention i went from feeding them 2-3 times a day to feeding them only once and they are still younger, id say 1 and a half to 2 and a half maybe 3 inches
That can be normal. Mine do that too. Added some Buenos Aires Tetras and it made it better because they are always out and the mbuna follow their lead.
@primetimeaquatics hi there another great detailed video! I have a question. I currently have a 65 gallon tall 3ft 18in 2ft tall. It houses 1 male giant betta, 1m1f bnpleco, 5 orange opalin gourami,4black mollies,1m ebacara, and 2 angelfish 1 vailtail. Would a 75 gallon be better for the long term as they keep growing? is a 75 gallon suitable for a 2nd story bedroom location kinda slightly concerned about weight diy heavy built stand? Thank you in advance! There is videos on my channel of what the tank looks like now if that helps.
@PrimeTimeAquatics thank you for your input. Hopefully I have a some time before I gotta upgrade and I feel in reality I would have to go for a 90g as I have a 90 g land hermit crab tank amd love the size but I'm not putting a 90 g filled on my second story bedroom floor I think I'd be asking for my tank to crash land in my family room below me. Thank you Jason stay safe and warm!!!

I’m thinking about getting a 60 for my shellies for this reason. 👍🏼

Great comparison. I don't have a 60b but i do have a 75g. I love my 75. Thanks for sharing

I love the fact that a 60 breeder can be lifted by one person easily.
16 inch depth much easier to reach into tank for maintenance.
I had almost only tall tanks but recently (5 years ago) got a breeder tank. I love it!
But if I were going for a standard community tank with lots of stocking options, I'd go for the 75 😊
I'm short - my arms are short. That's why I like the 60B. I have both. 40Bs are great too.
My bedroom being ont the second floor of an old house, I was about to get a 55 galon, but now I NEED a 60 galon breeder!🤩😍🤩
No brainer for me. The bigger the tank the better as long as you have space and can handle the wt. Perhaps for breeding the 60 is best because those tanks are generally not aquascaped and can be stacked easier. Good video with many valid points. Thanks for sharing.
Wow I was considering this exact question recently lol big thanks 🙏

Great video Jason! Never had a 60 breeder before might have to look into it. Looks like the perfect size!
Thank you!
I like your tank comparison videos. Really informative! ❤
Thank you!
I wasn't aware they made a 60 gal breeder. I think it would be ideal for shell dwellers.
I was limited for height so I have a 60 over my 75. The rack works great because they have the same footprint. The contrast of these two on the same shelf is cool too. A 60 breeder looks more like a shallow river scape.

Nice!
@PrimeTimeAquatics no center brace either. Got some yellow perch in there, you'd love it
60 gallon fits a bit better on the heavy duty garage racks. Thinking about getting one to put my red head tapajos breeding pairs.
60b is my go-to for racking. I stack them 3 high in my room.
The extra height on the 75 allows for a deeper substrate.
True!
What’s the benefit of having a deeper substrate?
@melk.9425 , many benefits to a deeper substrate , especially if you do a dirted substrate with 1 inch of organic soil and 2+ inches of sand.
Google deep aquarium substrate but the taller tank will give more room for the deep substrate and the water column which fish like Angels will appreciate.
@@melk.9425 plants that have root systems need lots of substrate for optimal root and plant growth

Do they make a tank with same footprint as a 40b but the height of the 75? I know they make a 65 but its too tall.
Ya, the 65 is as close as it gets.
I have a 65 gallon and I did love it at the start but I'm learning that 3ft wide and 2 ft tall is not the most ideal for my fish as left to right just isn't long enough but they do really like the height. Also gives it a small pond impression as it's so deep and tall

Is two gallons too small for few white cloud mountain minnows?
Ya, it’s best to keep them in groups of at least six and they can be somewhat active too. Usually at least a 10 gallon is recommended.
Good video. I'm a 75 devotee, though. A healthy man, or a two fit women can easily lift and place it, and I just like a bigger viewing window! Respect to anyone with a 60 breeder, though!
38 Long by Tideline is the best aquarium ever! 48 inches long. 14 inches wide and 14 inches tall.
That’s cool!
love your set up in the barb tank how many you have in yours I have 55 gallon barb tank!
Right now I have around 10 clown barbs and 10 Odessa?
@PrimeTimeAquatics I have mixture of snake gold cherry and tiger
I have the 40g breeder and the 75g. I would love to have a 60g breeder in my fishroom.
no wet sleeves, that channel name makes me smile but it's true. With that said 75 please

I’d definitely go 75 gallon in your case! Have fun!
Top brace on my 55 just broke. I'm going to pick up a 60 gallon. They are on sale 50% off! I always wished my 55 was shorter so maintenance was easier.
Awesome you get to replace it with a 60 breeder!
60 breeder great for sump

I’m not sure I would push that stand much past a 75 gallon.

60 Breeder all day. Great Mbuna size.
@primetimeaquatics hi there another great detailed video! I have a question. I currently have a 65 gallon tall 3ft 18in 2ft tall. Great question - I’m not sure I would put a 75 gallon on my second floor? I agree though - at some point you will need a larger tank.

Is the 60B actually 60gals? Or is it like the 40B that actually holds closer to 47gals?
Great question - it’s actually very close to 60 gallons.
Would you ever recommend a used tank?
Sure - I don't buy them a lot, but it's best to buy a tank you know is holding water when you buy it (it's full).
Hello, 55 or 60 gallon is better? I can't get 75 because of the weight.
I’d go 60 breeder. I like the extra width compared to the 55.
It seems that the bottom glass of the 60 gallons is not template
I wish the 60 breeder was another 2 inches taller (I guess that would make it closer to maybe being 65 gallons or so)
75
It’s a hard decision. A much more favorable comparison to the 60 breeder is the 40 breeder.
I’m short. I’ll take the 60.
If you are doing deep substrate plus a plenum I think the 75 is going to be better because you lose about 5" of height.
I just need a 60g over a 75g!
Now we’re talkin!
Don’t even need to watch it (I will). I already know 60 by far
