While we've already driven the new Acura ZDX Type S, we haven't yet spent any wheel time with the slightly less powerful and less expensive A-Spec. Is it good enough for the money, or should you just skip it and go for the Type S version instead? Tommy finds out in this quick drive review!

Gen 1 NSX was RWD Acura.
I was just coming here to say that!
Hey Tommy. The original Acura NSX was rear wheel drive.
I drove this at a special event at the Miami F1 track a week ago. They let us drive the Honda prologue along with the Acura zdx. Got both highway driving and a special course they had set up along with the permission to explore it to the first corner. This was both my first experience with an electric car as a driver and something this heavy. Did not feel any worry about tipping with the battery pack down below so I took the slalom section like a madman.
I like how they didnt even change the GM door chime
Like the look. Waiting on the charging curve and full review.
It's the best looking hearse on the Ultium platform.
To expensive for a shared product
Corporate greed has no limits.
@@JebusHypocristosXif you’re not maximizing profits, you’re not doing capitalism right!
@@jamesbeaman6337 That's right, I am not.
I like this a lot, one of the very few EVs that actually has a useable interior, with buttons and switches. That being said I don't see why this is 15k more than the Honda Prologue.
Pricing of these EV’s is what’s going to be a big problem. Why would somebody pay more for this instead of a whole bunch of other cars that are cheaper? It’s a great car but it’s expensive.
Or 20k more expensive than a blazer
Prologue = Blazer (Front Strut)
ZDX = Lyric (Front SLA)
I see too much GM in here... Which it had more Acuraness... Looking forward to Hondas independent platform as these feels slightly compromised
I just can't agree that this is the best looking of the GM and Honda EV's. I think the three different colors (silver, gray and red) is too much going on. The dash is a mess and those screens are terrible. I'm not 100% for the looks of the GM models, but they are better than this and I"m sure for way less.
I hold off on judging until I get up a little bit .Better video than a quick drive I don't think I could give it a fair judgment then until that I mean
That front end is a "homerun"???
Uhhhh, I would have to disagree. I'm not a fan of the nose on this thing...
Looks amazing, but its more expensive than the model Y, will it sell? Hum...
This will end up leasing for $699 ish no money down for 24 months to move them
I wouldn't pay $300 a month for this let alone $699 😅
I was in a dealership yesterday. In the 5's
Well with a longer term
I leased it for zero down 550 a month 24 months
Does it have lane centring and Adaptive CC? If so, that's all that's needed for road tripping.
that's pretty much standard on most vehicles nowadays
@@Urgento22Not GM vehicles. Lane centering is only on Super Cruise vehicles.
Yes, the A-Spec has both LKAS and Adaptive CC.
So much for your car guy credentials not knowing the original NSX was rear wheel drive. I mean it was only in production for about 15 years
Did he say 70k. No no, no way! Because I must protest!
Some say, he is still waiting to turn left, to this day
is this plug-in hybrid or fully electric?
Fully electric
The Chevy blazer, Cadillac lyriq, Honda prologue, and the Acura zdx are looking really close relatives😅
Why does Acura use GM components in their ZDX? That's interesting since they are both competitors.
Because Honda has no EV platform targeting this vehicle class.
Only premium GM EV with Android Auto.
The Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq had Apple Carplay and Android Auto support. Not sure if 2024MY still does or not.
A GM powered Honda????
Badge engineering is nothing new. Toyota and GM had several shared models. Ford and Mazda shared a truck. VW rebadged the Grand Caravan.
the Saturn Vue had a Honda VTEC V6 engine. The engine outlasted the company.
I think the Honda Prologue looks better.
At least it has Apple Carplay available unlike GM
Craplay is who cares. Its overpriced junk. Corporate greed is out of control.
They didn’t even disguise the interior chime. Sounds just like my Chevy truck.
This car is extremely GM… it has the buttons behind the steering wheel to adjust the volume like GM‘s and everything else looks like a GM. When Honda and Acura announced, they were going to partner with GM for the drivetrain and the Ultium platform I didn’t think that was a bad thing… But I did not expect the interior of the car look so much like a GM car
$99K CAD ! Lease $1705 per month for 48 months. 😆😂🤣 Front end Meh…
It sure why you would get this over a Tesla y
Acura NSX and Acura SLX.
The SLX was a rebadged Isuzu, so an Acura in badge only.
give me a 1 reason to buy 😅
Kind of ironic one of the most reliable automotive manufacturers is going with one of the least reliable EV manufacturers for their entry into the EV market…. Not the best idea in my opinion. LOL.
I think you need to come out of the 80's and into the current times. GM products constantly do as well or better than the Honda products any more. Also, would like to see your proof of "least reliable EV manufacturers".
@@danielberning1240 If you think GM is as reliable as Honda you are living in Fantasy Land. it’s fairly common knowledge GM has had a lot of issues with their EVs, obviously you are on TH-cam, Do some research.
@@itgoesfast2722GMs issues are largely software related. If Honda/Acura uses their own software for their Ultium based vehicles they may actually be better. Only time will tell.
@@itgoesfast2722 Sorry, I think you are the one still living in the 80's fantasy land. I sold Honda's next to Buick and Cadillac's for 12 1/2 years starting in 1988 till 1995 and again from 2007 to 2011 at the same dealership. When I first started at that dealership, I really liked the Honda brand. And then I saw first hand. I drove them back to back. After a few years there, I purchased a brand new car and chose the Buick for a reason.
I'd tell you to take a look at the JD Power reports from the current going back 30 years and you will see where Honda (and Toyota) have gone down where in that same time GM overall has gone up. And Buick has consistently ranked as high or higher than Honda. But for some reason, I have the feeling you will just come up with some excuse. It's time to wake up and stop linving in the past.
@@danielberning1240 Good catch, that was totally 80's "Fantasy Land" good old Rodney Dangerfield ...LOL you can keep typing but I have owned both GM and Honda, and a lot of other cars over the years. The last GM I owned (bought new in2018), based on issues and horrible customer service has sealed my opinion of GM. I also agree with you Toyota and Honda are not what they used to be, everything is about how cheap can we build it and forget about anything being overbuilt these days. (That sounded old) LOL But its true. And to give you credit, my daughter has a 2021 Honda accord 2.0 Turbo no CVT its a transmission with a torque converter and real gears which failed at 38,000 miles... They did replace it under warranty but still that is ridiculous. Have a good day...
Meh😂
I believe I could put up a strong argument that it’s not even good.
What’s the start button for??? Yes, I own a Tesla.
The start button is a button that starts the engine. Oh wait there is no engine. The start button is there because legacy auto makers don’t know how to make a car without a start button.
@@Jerryklocke the start button is there to start the vehicle. Not everyone is happy to let a machine (with very little awareness of it's surroundings) start itself.
@@yissibiiyte That is one of the many things I love about my Model Y. No key, I just grab my phone, press the brake, put it in gear and go.
To start the car. It really isn't any more complicated than that. Sometimes you just open the car to grab something inside. No reason for the car to power up every time the drivers door is opened.
Another electric vehicle nobody wants, especially since this is mostly general motors
Please, no more electric trash is over.Stop with this crap
why are you on a electric channel then?
@@JD-yx7begood question.
This guy is acting like someone is force feeding him these cars 😂😂😂
Another hideous electric vehicle
Another hideous comment.
How is this hideous? It’s a nice looking car!
@@MikeRadioNYgarbage electric car. Gas is our future.
It looks like a normal car from the 2010s. Having a chip on your shoulder over electric vehicles makes you a partisan clown. I drive a twin turbo Bronco without interest in electrics, but I’m not going to adopt that anti EV whine. Grow up and do the same.
@@TheCarCrazyGuy gas is totally not our future. We will all be driving electric. I’ll check in with you in the next 15 to 20 years on this comment. Why fight it?
flob
In China you buy that for $40,000. Enough with the corporate greed already.
That's a lot of money, no super cruise no surround view cameras. GM EV performance isn't that great either. I think people will expect more from a premium brand. Lastly, that's Cadillac Lyric money and the Lyric has pretty good reviews plus the bells and whistles.
Lyriq has SuperCruise and this doesn’t, but this has CarPlay/Android Auto and Lyriq doesn’t. Lyriq is softer, this is sharper. I see no problem with it being priced directly against the Lyriq, they’re just two different flavors of premium.
@@EricMitton I think some Lyrics actually have AA/AC. First model year maybe? I could be wrong.
@@EricMitton Who cares about Craplay/Androidcrap. I don't want self driving anything. Just a plain cheap ev and this junk ain't it.
