    Thank you! I studied the oboe at university and was never taught how to adjust the thing. My teacher would always silently adjust it and then hand it back to me like secret magic was being done and I didn't have the "screwdriver license". It's been in its box for many years and made squeaking noises when I tried to play. After following your video it is working again!

    This is a great video. I just started playing oboe after playing clarinet for 15+ years and I was able to make several small adjustments to my brand new oboe and plays even better now. Thank you very much.

    This is soo helpful, it fixed my oboe before my concert, and now I don't have to send it to repair shop for it to take a week to repair

    Thanks so much for sharing this info. I am 58, finally have time to spend more time on the oboe. It is a challenging instrument and sometimes frustrating. Understanding the instrument helps.

    Some keys felt cheesy, so I went to adjust them, and next thing I knew the only the middle C worked! Thankfully I found this video

    thank you so much! I was having so many problems with my keys below c, but adjusting the resonance key helped. I was starting to think it was a 'me' problem, and that I was just bad and that my embouchure was wrong. But the resonance key was almost all the way loose

    Thank you so much! At first I thought the two reeds I’d been using had worn out. Tried a new one and could play, with difficulty, notes below G but figured something was wrong. Saw your postings and you saved the day. After the first few adjustments, voila, the low register reappeared even better than before. Moreover, the high G which had been a bit difficult before was now much easier to play.

    Great video, thanks! Wondering if you’d recommend trial and error with those low F tuning adjustment screws for a forked f that’s coming out very fuzzy? Or would you look at the resonance key first?

    Hi Danny. Everything is in tune on my l’oree Royal oboe except the middle E is a little sharp. Do you know how to adjust this? Low E is fine. I tried the same reed on my old l’oree oboe and the middle E is fine.

    Thank you for this! I have a question, my g is very flat while everything else is pretty in tune. Any suggestions?

    • @OboeFiles
      @OboeFiles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! It could require an adjustment to the undercutting around the F # or f tone hole of your instrument. You may be able to solve this at the reed desk though- can you try other players reeds/ instruments to find out?

    Nice videos, thanks for sharing! May i ask a question, the right hand Eb key of my oboe is too light (or I just need very little force to press it, than C, C#), how should I adjust this? Is it the needle that should be adjusted?

    • @OboeFiles
      @OboeFiles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm sounds like a rang of motion issue, this might require some disassembly or cleaning in the rod to check, best take it to a repair tech who specializes in oboe… you can check out my website link in the description for some shops that might be near you, best of luck!

    • @JosephYu1918
      @JosephYu1918 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OboeFiles Thanks for your advice! It is a freshly serviced oboe, so i think the only problem is the needle spring which control the Eb key move. Perhaps, I can push this needle to be more resilient?

      I’d be happy to help trouble shoot over zoom but I am sure you have a repair tech close by who could sort it out in a snap, check out my website for repair people near you: www.oboefiles.com/oboe-repair-people-across-america/

    If my middle C is too sharp, what screw should I adjust to lower the pitch? I just bought a new L’oree royal and the middle C is 40 cent sharp. Thanks in advance.

    • @OboeFiles
      @OboeFiles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s new you should have the technician who sold it you work on that as it is still under warranty… this is pretty unusual unless the b natural key isn’t closing all the way ….

    • @TrueCallaway
      @TrueCallaway ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OboeFiles Ok. Thanks. Bought it from Carlos. I was able to bring the pitch down by adjusting the bridge key. I use this video all the time to make basic adjustments. I think if you made a video for advanced adjustments, it would be a hit. Thanks for your reply. I have one year warranty so I will eventually send it back for voicing.

      @@OboeFiles Hi Danny. So I found out that L’oree added a new screw to the right side of the top joint. It adjusts only the opening of the C vent, which adjusts the pitch of C without any side effects. My old l’oree didn’t have that screw so I didn’t know about it.

    I just a bought a used oboe. I cannot get a good tone. I think it's got a leak somewhere. When I hit the first three keys b-add-a-add g, the g sounds like a b? It goes up instead of down. Any idea what would cause this?

      This is a wonderful resource. Truly appreciate what you are doing for the oboe community. I am coming back after a good 30 years of neglect. I just picked up a mid 90's Mariguax and because of this video I just picked up some adjustments I need to make. I thought something was wrong with the instrument but see that it was an adjustment. This is definitely a video you need to watch a few times before you really understand what to do.
