I agree, the song was off. I think the problem is the production. The production ruined the song. For example, her vocals aren’t crisp….they sound muffled especially in the beginning. Moreover, I don’t like how she doesn’t do any vocal runs or hits notes. Her voice sounds flat the whole time and lacks dynamic. The beat is fire, but the song never picks up or has a beat drop. The snippet made me think the song would be way more exciting then how it was. The bridge was weak and should have been longer, after the bridge she should have hit a high note. Lastly, you’re right about the lyrics….they aren’t catchy enough for people to sing along. Overall, the song sounded like an unfinished demo. Which is a shame because the beat and concept could have been such a great song. I also wish she released it properly.

To me, the chorus should've been the bridge, with some kind of anticipation sound, like claps or something like that. The verse 2 should've been the chorus, to me it is more exciting and would work better for the song. They could add more instruments and make the track longer. I think that way it would be more interesting. And I agree with you, motivation and 1:59 are better, because these songs have better structure. I'm not hating, I love Normani and I've been waiting for the album since 2018 😅 I'm just giving my 2 cents
