At 0:44, a list of carriers operating the CV-880 is displayed. Sadly, only two of those airlines listed are still operating, while the others were either bought-out by other airlines, or dissolved and sold off. Great film though!!, thanks for posting this!
Aside from fuel consumption and 5 abreast seating arrangement that many airlines did not want, it appears that the 880 was a superior design over the 707 and DC-8.
A nice film. Mr. Howard Hughes certainly did his part to hamstring this program. The 880/990 program nearly financially wrecked Convair.

You are correct, I thought that SAS was in the process of merging with two other regionals while I was in the process of retiring from Boeing...

Excessive fuel consumption alone meant it was not a superior design.
Such a pity that this aircraft didn't succeed commercially, selling half the units required (65) for break-even.
