The turnpike that was replaced by skyrocket was always the last ride my dad took me on. It was always dark out. I remember it so well. Been going to kennywood for 42 years. My first roller coaster ever was the jackrabbit, and my son, who is now 18, had his first roller coaster ride on the jackrabbit too. Great video! Thank you for making it even though I still live a 15 minute drive from Kennywood. It will always be one of the most nostalgic and deer places to my heart.
I’ve actually seen a ton of these and never knew it! 😂 The most interning one, in my opinion, was the Old Mill dragons. I always wondered what happened to those. Great video!!
I loved going to Kennywood Park growing up! One of my favorite rides was the Log Jammer. I'm sad to see that is gone :(. The video was great! I will definitely watch more!
Great video, I look forward to the next! I still remember the Whip tragedy. I was devastated as a kid because that was one of my favorite rides at Kennywood and to think something like that horrible wind could cause tragedy still haunts me. I will always remember the old school look of that structure.
I’ve been going to Kennywood for 9 years and I didn’t even know about half of these! Next time I go to the park, I’m going to be on the lookout for these remnants! Great Content man 👍
Those are some really neat remnants there I never noticed. Kennywood is so charming and nostalgic, I like that they pay tribute to their former rides and attractions. I'll definitely have to look for the boat of log Jammer.
David this is awesome ! Thankyou so much for putting this together ! I worked there 1977-1978 as a ride manager on the Le Cachot. Loads of great memories !
Eeek! The year I was going to finally be tall enough for it they took it out! My older siblings never let me live it down that I never rode the laser loop and they did! Road trip is in order!!! 😊
Similar thing happened to me with White Lightning at Carowinds (a weight drop model) back in the 80's, I was just tall enough, but my uncle had told me bad stories about it and it was very intimidating for me.
Two others that come to my mind at the moment are the circus wagons and clown face in a refreshment stand in Lost Kennywood. The clown face was used on KP's sound truck from the 50s and 60s. The wagons were once part of a game and I pulled one during the Fall Fantasy parades. It carried the car battery that lit the parade banner.
Excellent work on this video. Interesting content. I’ll be looking for all those things next time I’m at the park, but especially for that hidden log jammer boat!
I genuinely don't get the love for Log Jammer, to me it was always just the kiddy version of the Pittsburgh Plunge. Nobody I know personally even rode that ride, everyone just ignored it.
Oh wow, you reminded me about that dropping spider from the Old Mill rid. That thing scared me to death as a kid and I never went on that ride again lol But it's somewhat cool to see it's still a part of the park.
Cool video and learned a few things I didn't know such as the dragon heads, clock and a log jammer log by Steel Curtain. Will need to check those out this year. I get a pass every year.
I haven’t been to Kennywood in years….. The turnpike was one of my favorites as a kid. Maybe it’s one of the reasons I love to drive so much today. It makes me sad that it’s gone.
My dad was born and raised in Braddock.....and my mom in Swissvale. My older brother and I were born in Pittsburgh, while my 2 younger brothers were born in Chicago. All of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc stayed in Pittsburgh, as my family constantly moved all over the place. But we were back, sometimes twice a year, to visit. Of course we hit Kennywood almost every visit. The last time I was at Kennywood was 1988. I'd just gotten married, and was on orders for Germany. So, I took my new bride there. We went on the Laser Loop.....and that was when I learned she was TERRIFIED of roller coasters! She didn't say a word until we were on it, ready to launch. When it DID launch, she dug her nails into my thigh like a f'ing Velociraptor!! She was screaming in terror......I was screaming in pain, as she opened up 4 sizable cuts on me. I actually had blood starting to run down my leg. 😐😐😐
One more from Old Mill is the "JAIL" sign. It's hard to find but it's easiest to see from Exit 4. It's just hanging on the ride building that scene 3 sits in i believe... well the channel building.
I feel like they need to rebuild a pavilion over the whip since I've heard many of ride operators say it's agonizing to operate during the summer due to the blacktop it's uses

Nice job, Dave! (This is Mar-Jean here). I see Big Dave and Little Dave at 0:44!

That happened the day I graduated from High School!

Fun Fact: the Laser Loop is back in the USA and is currently planned to be used at Niagara Fun Park/ formally Fantasy Island at Grand Island, NY.

@@markvolpe2305grown-ups can be so cruel when it comes to amusement rides 😂

Love all this history !!! Thanks awesome channel 🙂🎶🙏🏻

Great job. Cool stuff
Incredibly well done video!
Really good video. I love that they kept some of the old parts and reused them, or paid tribute in a new way.
I love the Steel Curtain, but I wish they could've found a way to keep the log jammer there 😭

Tnis brought back great memories! The Whip, Jack Rabbit, Spider, and The Odyssey ride were my favorites !
Nice job on this video! I knew about most of these except for the Laser Loop footers. Very cool.
Good video! Now I will be looking for these next time I go! Thanks for doing what you do.
being a Ravens fan in Pittsburgh who loved the LogJammer, I’ve never gotten over what they’ve done!

Love it would like to see more
I’ll have to look for the mini golf things next time I’m there
So it was 1996 when the Phantom exit was re-routed? That's cool about the Phantom sport shop, it's weird how ethose buildings are all walled off now
It's sad that they ruined the old Whip pavilion for that plain ass looking restaurant.
Can you do more in the future

PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER VIDEO
This bummed me out, great video but looking at old rides that dont exist anymore kills me..
One more from Old Mill is the "JAIL" sign. It's hard to find but it's easiest to see from Exit 4. It's just hanging on the ride building that scene 3 sits in i believe... well the channel building.
That spider scared the poop out me as a kid.
Me too!!!
Kennywood has a log jammer boat that casually moved around. It was at the gate for a few years but is now by the arcade across from the plunge
Also on the train you can see the original train from when Kennywood opened
It's been a long time since I've been to Kennywood... I would probably barely recognize the place now...
Love that old mill was btough back. And the Whip makes me laugh to this day.
I live 10 minutes away from Kennywood
Can you do one at idwild park
I feel like they need to rebuild a pavilion over the whip since I've heard many of ride operators say it's agonizing to operate during the summer due to the blacktop it's uses
Some of them kennywood removed from the park 😭
The old steel phantom footer #StoneAge 🤣 7:10
Really vool
Good video, but perhaps if the narrator could match tenses between verbs and nouns it would be more enjoyable.
few people do not know that the ground under kenny wood is full of old coal mine tunnels long abandoned.
