- Edit: Just realized that the house that I thought was the parsonage is actually the houseboat from the late game Aifread side quest. Embarrassing buuuut it explains all that treasure.

Tales of series is so underrated
Underrated? No. Underappreciated? Yea. Tales is one of the the big three long-running jrpg franchises. Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy being the others.
This game meant so much to me as a kid. I didn't have friends or anyone I looked up to. But when I saw Lloyd's character, he wasn't the smartest, but he had HEART and I based my whole personality and morals off of him
That's both sad and awesome to hear! It is interesting how much games can affect your personality. Myself I found Regal really cool after multiple playthroughs (at first I thought that he was a sort of joke character or something haha) and in a way looked up to him. I wanted to be tall, muscular, (intelligent) business man who was protective of those close to him, well it all mostly came true but just a business degree no own business heh. But still kinda funny how much that steered me in life too.

@TheGreatGonzales912 Lol, I think that is the beauty of video games and especially JRPGs that we can find some sort of relation to the characters and as we get older our perspective of them grows. So far adulthood has not been kind but it has it's good moments. Playing Tales of Symphinia has been one of the highlights of my life for sure. I kinda miss those days lol.

My favourite cooking Easter eggs is that both Kratos and Lloyd both hate tomatoes 🥰 especially since there's a comic about Kratos disliking them. I know there's a lot of small hints about who Kratos really is but that's one of my favourite ones.
The first jrpg I ever played as a kid and it changed my perspective of what video games could be with its awesome story, world and characters. I've been playing almost nothing but jrpgs + Souls and Monster Hunter games ever since haha.

2:10 I have a suspicion that this may have been an alternate way to get the tower of mana key. In the TOS Anime, Raine has a connection with a figurehead of the church of Martel. It’s possible Raines treasures were either gifted to her by this man if she had not been able to visit these places as well. There also was a theory that during the Unicorn scene, where Raine says she can’t see it because, “She’s an adult” it’s loosely implied that she no longer is a virgin, and since the priest that helps her in her life and in the anime seems to be the only potential character, this could be a section that was removed, for optimal ratings.
I've played this game way too much, never thought I would see/learn something new when clicking this.

No idea why TH-cam decided to suggest this video, today. But I'm glad to have this new perspective on one of my most beloved games from my childhood. I remember all of these places (except the destroyed version of Dirk's house, of course) and it's very cool to see some of the details you'd never even guess were there. Great job! :3

Oh wow, I never knew about the map of Lloyd's destroyed house. I'm really gad that they DIDN'T go with that though honestly. Dirk is one of the few positive presences for Lloyd that remains unchanged throughout the game so it would've been too sad I think if Lloyd also lost him on top of everything else.
(Also I feel I should point out, You misspelt Colette's name on your spreadsheet! It only has one L!)

The cooking stuff is just a great example of the little details and love put into this game. I love that Raine is a terrible cook and just adds lemon lol :)

Awesome video! You deserve more subs. Love the tales series. The destroyed Dirk house is creepy, so thankful they didn’t kill him off, that would have been awful. The hidden stuff is just awesome.
The cooking stuff is neat. I feel as if Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia were the best with that.

i always noticed the differences in ingredients used for cooking but i didn't think they changed when they maxed stars or that if you used ingredients that they don't like that it lowers affection. it's so neat how their personalities are expressed in their food, too. i love it!

I feel like most people miss out on the cooking aspect of the game just because food is so expensive, and you are trained to save as much money as possible for like 3/4ths of the game
Loved this video!! Did you also know that cooking actually raises affection in super small increments? Or that on the title screen on disc 2 of the GameCube version there is a hidden Lloyd model behind the tree?
Thank you!! I have seen videos of Lloyd behind the tree, it's awesome, maybe I'll show it in my next video. I believe cooking raises affection by 1 point while overworld skits are average 60 points. So yes, very small increments but if you cook a lot it makes a difference

Also, the food you cook can affect your affection points towards the characters if you cook something they hate or love. Each of them have a favorite ingredient !!! Thank you for the video tho ❤

I feel like I know what house that was in Luin that has an accessible map but is "off the charts" to visit. I think that that may have been intended to be the "leftover" home for Lloyd's mom who was originally living in Luin before she met the Meltokio resident Kratos and had to flee from that region.
At 1:42, is that not just the inside of Aifread's boat in Luin? Part of his sidequest, you have to buy the boat from him. You are able to enter it afterward from the dock, and that's just what the inside looks like. Hence, all the "treasure".

Also there is a Skit in Tos1 or 2 where Raine talks about inventing a new dish, rice stuffed Lemons.
That Skit makes alot more sense now.
THIS IS SO FREAKIN' INTERESTING!! Of course lots of this I could never know without the camera you got (a bathroom in exire...where does the waste go. Someone's gettin' some nasty rain. I hope it's Ozette) but the thing with the cooking I never looked too deeply at and now I really want to. What a lovely insight into the characters.
I first got Symphonai twelve years ago and have played it in its entirety at least twenty times, and I never knew any of this. Thank so much.
I'll give you this, I was not privy to any of these. You did actually impress me. But here's a bonus one. Did you know that the side wall next to the door of the Chief's house in Igagury village rotates? It's a secret alternate entrance to the building. Doesn't change anything, but is cool.

Great work, this reminds me of boundary break but it's so nice to see for Tales of Symphonia. Such a charming game, it never got the love Abyss, Vesperia or the Xillia duology got.

This channel is so calming and enjoyable. I've been thinking about this game a lot since I played it long, long ago and am happy to see relatively recent content. The music videos are really nice for focusing too.
Rewatching the remastered trailer coming out march 2023 brought me here. Finally the algorithm got it right, I always raised up the worst cook first… turned out to be a lemon (pun intended) 😆

one thing I love with the cooking system is that Regal takes a page of Sheena's recipe book for curry. As most know, picking Sheena to make curry in the Earth Temple results is everyone telling her that pineapple doesn't belong in curry--except Regal. You already know what becomes an additional ingredient for Regal's curry later on XD
I'm so amazed by this! Me and my cousin are actually searching throughout the game for easter eggs also, and trying to bend the game in ways not possible! We are planning on doing an entire series on it and posting it after. I'd love to share some of our discoveries and progress with you.
I'd love to see what you've found, and look forward to the series. If you go looking there is a debug version floating around that gives access to all sorts of interesting rooms and features

This was an amazing overview of the secrets in this game that most wouldn't have known, even those who played the game over several hours.
I myself played over 170 hours, and discovered maybe half of what a more experience player has learned, namely, because I was very young when I played this game. Before TF2, it was the game I put the greatest tangible timeframe into. So I understand many of these details, I'm glad I could learn all these mysteries.

Okay I know I'm late but I'm playing ToS (again for the millionth time), and I wonder if the house with the treasure in it is supposed to be Aifread's home. We know he's originally from Luin, and it'd make sense that he may have some treasure stashed away there..... Could also be way off base hahah it's been a while since I've played and I haven't gotten to that sidequest yet.

As a final fantasy fan who has beat every numerical FF almost (still struggling through 11 which is a boring af game imo with irritating stealth quests but cool summons) I decided to start a new JRPG series. I started at the original, beat phantasia, beat destiny, and then purchased TOS on steam. After beating it, I started playing it a 2nd time, and might play it a 3rd if I see reason to. I put aside tales of zesteria and vesperia cause I got so into this game (also bought those on steam). Its really a heavy game with a ton of content I was not expecting a jrpg to rival the content in bethesda games. It makes me wish I'd owned this on GC 15 years ago.
